Cedric McMillan Gives Physique Update Ahead Of Arnold Classic
Cedric McMillan is looking shredded in preparation for the Arnold Classic.
Cedric McMillan is not a competitor that uses social media too often to share physique updates. Just nine weeks out of the 2022 Arnold Classic, McMillan decided to show his fans his recent progression heading into the new year.
On Sunday, McMillan took to Instagram to post a video going through some poses in the gym. He is looking shredded as he prepares to get back on stage during the second biggest bodybuilding show of the year. The Arnold Classic will return to Columbus, OH on March 3-6.
“Alot of us pros don’t post as we start prep and progress, I think its because we don’t wanna deal with being over-analyzed by some dudes sitting on the toilet scrolling instagram haha. My anxiety is so bad I get nervous about even sending progress to a coach, or even just recording and looking at myself! I’ve done whole preps without making pics or videos! So this is an attempt to overcome a challenge. So here critics, enjoy this meal haha and remember as we all get ready for the @arnoldsports we need u to let us know how good or bad u think we are?”
It is a positive sight to see Cedric McMillan back to looking massive after a recent string of health issues. In 2020, McMillan suffered a broken collarbone that kept him out of the Olympia. More recently, McMillan had a long road back after contracting COVID-19. He was hospitalized and lost nearly 30 pounds.
While in the hospital, McMillan lost weight from the virus but was determined to defeat it and get back to competition. He took the stage during the Legion Sports Pro in October. McMillan was not part of the first callout and did not return to stage for the final round. McMillan was then scheduled to appear during the Egypt’s KO Pro show but did not make it.
Now, Cedric McMillan looks like he is in competition shape and ready to make an impact at the Arnold Classic. He was present at the event last year but was heard on commentary rather than competing on stage.
This is a chance for McMillan to prove that he can still compete with the best in the world. One thing we know is that the raw grit ad determination is still there for one of the biggest names in the sport.

Cedric McMillan Reveals New Details On His Near-Death Experience & Heart Issues
[embedded content]
Cedric McMillan opens up with new details on his heart issues, developing pneumonia, long COVID, and being put on life support.
Earlier in November, Cedric McMillan performed a guest posing and also provided an update on his rocky bodybuilding season. It turned out, he revealed, that he was dealing with breathing and heart issues likely caused by contracting COVID-19 in the previous year. With cases rising across the world at a rapid pace due to Omicron, Generation Iron decided to sit down with McMillan and talk in further detail about his experience with the virus and his near death experience in the hospital. In our latest GI Exclusive, Cedric McMillan goes into full detail about contracting COVID-19, developing pneumonia, and being put on life support.
For a short period of time in 2021, fans were confused as to what was happening with Cedric McMillan. After much delay he was set to compete at the Legion Sports Fest Pro 2021, only for him to disappear after the pre-judging and not show up at the finals. There was silence and mystery for a few weeks. Then suddenly McMillan reappeared during a guest posing and revealed a series of medical issues that threw off his bodybuilding season.
It turned out that Cedric McMillan had developed COVID-19 in 2020 right after the Arnold Classic. He recovered. He was fine. But many months later he started having trouble breathing. This breathing issue eventually took him to the hospital – where he found out he had pneumonia. Shortly after he found himself on life support in the hospital. “I was almost dead.” He stated during his guest posing speech.
Now with more time to recover and reflect on the entire experience, Generation Iron Brasil’s Aretha Luz at down with Cedric McMillan to get an in-depth account of the entire experience. McMillan opened up with complete honesty about the slow building of events that eventually left him intubated and on life support.
Cedric McMillan was noticing shortness of breath for quite some time. As early as May or July of 2021. But McMillan attributed this to his massive size. He was over 300 pounds and as any pro bodybuilder would attest – it puts some strain on cardio and breathing. But then the symptoms didn’t subside. For weeks and weeks his breathing became worse. Eventually he knew that he had to seek medical advice. Upon going to the doctors, it was discovered his heart rate was dangerously low. He was rushed to the hospital.
It was at this point that the doctors drew a connection between his current medical issues and COVID-19. They asked McMillan if he had COVID-19. Cedric McMillan confirmed that much earlier in 2020 he had gotten the virus. But was fine after recovering. The doctors informed him he now has pneumonia. And while it can’t be confirmed with 100% accuracy, it was likely that his lung were very slowly building up with fluid for months after having the virus.
After spending a few days in the hospital and still struggling to breath, Cedric McMillan grew impatient. He wanted to leave. He felt that he was not in immediate life or death danger. He jokes that he stood up and pulled off the wires from his body, “like a movie.” The doctors tried to stop him. Before he knew it. He was sedated and woke up three days later.
It turns out shortly after being sedated, his condition grew worse. He was put on a ventilator and life support. The hospital called his family as they were concerned that there was a likely chance that Cedric McMillan would die. Luckily, this was not the case
Cedric McMillan is now recovered. After leaving the hospital, he took some time to recoup, and after some false starts, he finally felt healthy enough to step back on stage. This was when he decided to guest pose at the Armed Forces Nationals 2021.
Cedric McMillan realized that he needed time to recover after such an ordeal. Now that he’s taken that time, he feels prepared to compete at the Arnold Classic 2022 in March and then shortly after compete in the Arnold Classic South America. McMillan’s plans were derailed in 2021. But the pro bodybuilder has always been a focused competitor hungry for victory. Perhaps 2022 will be a true comeback for the much hyped athlete.
You can watch Cedric McMillan go into full detail about his entire near-death experience in our latest GI Exclusive interview segment above.
Cedric McMillan at Recent Guest Posing, Talks Near Death Covid Experience
Cedric McMillan talks about his near death experience with Covid.
It appears that Phil Heath isn’t the only top bodybuilder to recently battle Covid. Cedric McMillan recently revealed that he himself battled the sickness. In fact McMillan stated that the virus nearly took his life this past July.
It’s been quite some time since Cedric McMillan has been on a competitive stage. Save for his showing at the first night of the Legion Sports Fest, McMillan has been missing in action. He made his long awaited return to the stage at a recent guest posing event. He looked strong and impressive per usual, but not quite to his optimal form. The reason for that was pretty alarming. It appears that the 2017 Arnold Classic champion was waging a secret battle with virus wreaking havoc across the globe.
At the guest posing event Cedric McMillan would go on to explain that he suffered a terrible bout with the virus. As a result the bodybuilder also revealed that he had lost 30 Lbs of body weight. This gels with the info McMillan revealed on his social media not long after his guest posing appearance.
Looking to continue his resurgence back to his full potential, Cedric McMillan did another guest posing. McMillan stepped on stage at the Expo Super Show in Brazil. His recent appearance showed the bodybuilder slowly returning to form, showcasing a pretty impressive physique in the process.
Here is some of what Cedric McMillan had to say of his battle with the sickness.
“Back in July, I was almost dead…My wife was with me but I was outta here, seriously. But I didn’t see no white light. I don’t know if I was that close but looking at me from the outside, I was that close.”
It really sounds like Cedric McMillan had a brush with death. It’s great news to not only hear but see that he’s made a full recovery and is back to doing what he loves.

Cedric McMillan Speaks On Near-Death Experience Due To Heart Issues
Cedric McMillan opened up in an interview after an appearance as a guest poser.
There has been plenty of speculation recently about the health of Cedric McMillan. He did not compete at the Arnold Classic back in September and missed the finals during the Legion Sports Fest. While McMillan usually keeps information quiet, he recently spoke out on his health after an appearance as a guest poser.
McMillan took the stage during the 2021 NPC Armed Forces Nationals to show off a routine. Following the event, McMillan shared some information on his health, including how he almost passed away from complications with his heart.
“Back in July, I was almost dead. Like almost notify the next of kin. My wife was with me but I was out of here. But I didn’t see no white light so I don’t know if I was that close but looking at me from the outside, I was that close,” McMillan said.
“I was the hospital for about three weeks. I lost about 30 pounds. I was getting ready to go to the Arnold. I spent all of August trying to gain weight back — ignoring the doctor’s advice. then I spent about four weeks trying to get ready while I’m still sick. That lets you know how damn crazy we are.”
Cedric McMillan revealed that he was quickly trying to put back on the weight that he lost. This was in an attempt to get back in proper shape to compete in the Arnold Classic.
McMillan continued by discussing how COVID impacts bodybuilders. After contracting the virus back in March of 2020, McMillan began feeling the long-tern effects on his heart over a year later.
“The virus makes protein levels spike in your heart. It makes us bodybuilders and fitness people particularly sensitive. You would think because we exercise that we would be less sensitive but it’s something about the protein levels. Also, most athletes have an enlarged heart.”
McMillan did drop a subtle bomb by saying he plans to compete during the 2022 Arnold Classic. This is a show that McMillan won back in 2017 and has made a point to make every year.
“I’ll definitely be doing the Arnold Classic, for sure. I try to hit it every year.”
Like many have done recently, Cedric McMillan provided a call-to-action for bodybuilders. This time, he was discussing time and how important it is to give as much as possible to loved ones.
“What I do know is that at the end of the day, you guys don’t care about how many muscles we have or how many trophies we won. You just want that lost time back. All that I ask is to be patient with us.”
“When you get a chance, I guess I would say sacrifice yourself to the people that love you. We give so much of ourselves to the gym and prep and work. Give yourself to your family and the people who love you while you still have a chance.”
Cedric McMillan looks like he is back in elite shape and that will only improve as time goes on. It is always good to hear that McMillan’s health is improving and he is back to doing what he loves. Fans can now look forward to the next time he steps on stage.

But his return to the stage has quelled all fear and doubt of his current status. McMillan was back and looked pretty impressive to boot.

The 2017 Arnold Classic champion wasn’t able to qualify for the 2021 Olympia, nevertheless he still tried to make a run for the 2022 show. This comes hot off the heels of some less than stellar news for McMillan.
After suffering injury, Cedric McMillan was forced to pull out of the 2021 Arnold Classic. This wouldn’t be the first time that McMillan would be forced off an event in the last two years. Hand injuries forced McMillan out of the 2020 Olympia as well. The injuries for this recent withdrawal have yet to be revealed.

Cedric McMillan Withdraws From 2021 Arnold Classic
Cedric McMillan will miss the event while still recovering from injuries.
Cedric McMillan was forced to miss the 2020 Olympia because of different injuries and operations. He was expected to make his return during the 2021 Arnold Classic in September in Columbus, Ohio. McMillan recently announced that his plans for a return will have to be put on hold.
McMillan shared a post on Instagram detailing his most recent setback. He is still recovering from surgery to repair a broken hand. McMillan received this operation back in February and has been unable to train. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait to see McMillan back on stage.
“Just wanted to let everybody know I won’t be able to compete at the Arnold this year as I’m still recovering and the docs were like “uhh nope Mr McMillan”, this is the first year I’ve missed since my first one in 2013. I can’t wait to get back on that stage. But guess what, I will be there as part of the broadcast team!,” Cedric McMillan wrote.
“Hopefully me and Arnold can call the show together, that would be an honor for me. I hope to help bring a different feel and experience to all of you that will be watching the show online. Pray for me that I don’t say to many curse words haha”
The Arnold Classic has an impressive lineup for the event and McMillan was set to be one of the biggest names. This also impacts McMillan’s status for the 2021 Olympia. It is now likely that he will have to miss his second-straight competition unless he receives a special invitation and can accept it.
Cedric McMillan last competed during the 2020 Arnold Classic, where he placed sixth. His last victory came during the 2019 Romans Muscle Fest Pro Men’s Bodybuilding. McMillan has competed in each Arnold Classic since 2013 with his best finish coming in 2018 when he placed third.
McMillan did not provide any specific details on his latest setback but it is likely that he will not be back on stage for awhile. Fans are hoping that he can get healthy and back to competing soon enough.
