Legendary Bodybuilder Eddie Giuliani Has Passed Away At 87

Legendary Bodybuilder Eddie Giuliani Has Passed Away At 87

Eddie Giuliani became known for his passion for training in the gym.
Legendary bodybuilder and physique competitor Eddie Giuliani has passed away at 87 years old. Giuliani enjoyed a career that spanned over four decades where he was able to compete in over 35 competitions. There has been no cause of death revealed at this time.
Joe Wheatley announced the news in a Facebook post:
Just received the devastating news Muscle Beach Hall of Famer, EDDIE GIULIANI, passed away yesterday at the age of 87. Eddie was IFBB 1975 World. Inducted into the Muscle Beach Hall of Fame by Oscar award winning actor AL PACINO in 2012, a ceremony none of us will ever forget.
Please keep both his daughters Maria Giuliani Farley, Andrea Giuliani Gonzales and their families in your prayers.
He was a very dear friend of mine. Spoke to him everyday, sometimes three times a day. I’m going to miss him dearly. One of the greats in our industry.

About Eddie Giuliani’s Legacy
Giuliani began competing in 1951. The Brooklyn native eventually made the move to California in order to focus on his bodybuilding career. As an AAU competitor, Giuliani won shows such as Mr. New York City and Mr. Atlantic Coast. He also saw great success on the other side of the country with victories in shows like the Mr. Pacific Coast and Mr. Western America.

At 5-foot-6, Giuliani was one of the top competitors in his height category. He made the move to IFBB in 1964 and earned his first victory the very next year at the 1965 Mr. Northeastern States.
In 1974, Giuliani hit his stride racking up victories at the Mr. America and Mr. Western America in his division. He was also named the overall winner during the Mr. Western America show. Giuliani would compete in his last show in 1982, finishing fifth during the Mr. Universe competition.
Eddie Giuliani quickly became known for his training style over the course of his career. He enjoyed a great passion for fitness and training. During his peak years in the sport, Giuliani was training six days a week for up to three hours a day. Giuliani often dedicated 15-20 sets to each body part and did not rest much between sets.
Giuliani’s workouts often changed when preparing for a show. He would reduce the number of sets he would do to around five per body part. The sets might have been down but the workouts were more intense. The weight would be high but Giuliani would really focus on concentration and focus during this preparation.

Female TikToker Shows Man Throwing Medicine Ball To Get Her To Move Off Machine

Female TikToker Shows Man Throwing Medicine Ball To Get Her To Move Off Machine

TikToker Lexi Moore shared that the man has been banned from the gym following the incident.
TikTok has taken over as one of the most popular social media platforms right now. This happened during the pandemic and has continued on as users make videos in order to entertain audiences. TikTok can also be used to educate or expose. Many have used the platform to share their gym stories, whether it is a lift or unpleasant experience. Lexi Moore, a TikToker, decided to share her story about a man who threw a medicine ball at her in the gym.
At her local gym in Phoenix, Moore was working out on her own before being approached by a man. It looks as though she is using the leg press machine in the first part of the video. Next, Moore shows a clip of the man being detained by police.

“When a man at the gym tries to bully you out of your workout space so he could be there and then proceeds to throw a weighted ball in your direction to force you to move …all before 5am.”
“Now I finally understand the girls who feel uncomfortable working out at the gym, especially when no one comes to help you and just watches ! Front desk attendant ended up intervening,” Moore continued in the caption.
This story sparked much conversation with viewers wanting to know more about the situation. Lexi Moore shared that the manager at the gym learned about the situation and the man was banned from the location. The police also got involved, which is seen in Moore’s video.
The TikToker is not sure if she will return to this gym, despite it being her local gym and being close to her home. The manager called Moore personally to let her know that the man would not be returning.
“She let me know that he is banned from that gym, not able to return again and that they are working on getting him banned from other gyms in the area. So, we’ll see what happens with that. She did reassure me that she wants me to come back.”

Joey Swoll has been extremely active sharing videos from TikTokers speaking against toxic gym culture. This could be men harassing women, men being falsely accused of harassment, or anything from ego lifters showing up other gym goers. This story would certainly fall under the category of toxic gym culture.

‘Shake Every Hand, Kiss Every Baby’: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Advice To Will Smith On How To Become A Star

‘Shake Every Hand, Kiss Every Baby’: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Advice To Will Smith On How To Become A Star

Will Smith once approached Arnold Schwarzenegger asking for advice on his career.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is known is bodybuilding as being the best competitor to ever step on stage. To those outside of the sport, Schwarzenegger has many other avenues that he is known for. Schwarzenegger built a huge career on the big screen as well and this is where some could have been looking for advice, including Will Smith.
Schwarzenegger might have won seven Olympia titles over the course of his career but he is also known for his work in Hollywood. Known for The Terminator series, Schwarzenegger was one of the biggest action movie stars during his time. He served as an inspiration for many because of where he came from and what he was able to build for himself in America.

Will Smith spoke on advice that he was given from Schwarzenegger when they encountered each other during an opening of Planet Hollywood. Schwarzenegger’s advice was simple — grow your brand.
“You are not a movie star if your movies are only successful in America. You are not a movie star until every person in every country on earth knows who you are. You have to travel the globe, shake every hand, kiss every baby. Think of yourself as a politician running for the Biggest Movie Star in the World,” Arnold Schwarzenegger told will smith.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was able to tie in acting and politics. Schwarzenegger was also known for being elected the governor of California.

At the opening of this famous restaurant, Smith said he noticed Schwarzenegger having a conversation with Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis. Smith referred to them as the “Three Wise Men” when it comes to action movie stars. He felt like he needed to ask advice since he was looking to each that area.
At this year’s Oscars, Smith made headlines for different reasons. First, he won his first-ever Oscar for his performance in King Richard. Prior to winning the award, Smith shocked the world by slapping Chris Rock on stage after he made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
If there is a well-rounded individual who can give advice in many areas, Arnold Schwarzenegger is near the top of the list. He may have made headlines over the last year or so for his strong opinions but no one can take away what he has accomplished over the course of his lifetime.

Chris Bumstead Hits Leg Day With Men’s Physique Competitor Christian Guzman

Chris Bumstead Hits Leg Day With Men’s Physique Competitor Christian Guzman

Chris Bumstead joined Christian Guzman for a massive leg day workout.
Chris Bumstead continues his Olympia prep by hitting all body parts in hopes of bringing his fourth consecutive victory in December. Recently, Bumstead was joined by Men’s Physique competitor Christian Guzman for a leg day workout in Stuart, FL.
Guzman shared the workout to his YouTube page as part of a series called “Summer Shredding.” Before the workout, Guzman took a trip to pick up more supplements and enjoyed a meal of egg whites, onions, salsa toast, and coffee. From this point on, the duo traveled to Revive Gym in order to hit a lower body workout.

Chris Bumstead and Christian Guzman began the leg day with warm-up sets of three different variations. It began with single-leg and standard leg extensions. The duo then hit some hamstring curls to really get the blood flowing into the legs. Guzman quickly learned how Bumstead trains and said it was refreshing to see a different style.
“Out of everyone I have trained with, Chris is calm. It’s like a very, very composed, calm, this is what we’re doing, tempo. Like, I haven’t heard him make a noise. It’s awesome. It’s refreshing to see. It’s not what you think and this is from the f***ing number one Classic Physique competitor to ever be in this world,” Guzman said of Bumstead.
Once the warm-up was finished, Bumstead and Guzman continued onto hack squats. they were both wearing leg sleeves and Bumstead added a lifting belt during his sets. Both athletes were exerting great amounts of energy by the look of the video.
The exact amount of sets and reps was not revealed. Guzman added a final set on this machine with resistance bands. For his final set, Bumstead reached 630 pounds with seven plates on each side.
“I feel like I’m having a heart attack on this machine every time,” Bumstead said.
Chris Bumstead and Christian Guzman moved to the dumbbell rack to perform Bulgarian split squats next. Bumstead began his sets with 150-pound dumbbells and no straps. Not only is Bumstead one of the best competitors on stage, he is also one of the strongest. Guzman opted for 90-pound dumbbells and the duo performed at least three sets.
The workout ended with a superset of seated calf raises and more hamstring curls. It is clear that both competitors were able to get the most out of leg day by the looks of it. For Chris Bumstead, this is part of a bulking phase that is meant to put on size in order to win the Olympia once again.

Chris Cormier, Flex Wheeler, and Milos Sarcev Share Thoughts On PEDs In Bodybuilding

Chris Cormier, Flex Wheeler, and Milos Sarcev Share Thoughts On PEDs In Bodybuilding

Some of the best minds in bodybuilding decided to discuss the impact of PEDs in the sport.
The sport of bodybuilding has been hit hard by a string of deaths over the last year. This has caused some of the biggest names in the sport to speak out on different issues. Recently, the trio of Flex Wheeler, Milos Sarcev, and Chris Cormier got together for an interview to discuss PEDs in bodybuilding along with the deaths that have hit the sport hard.
The deaths of 2018 Olympia champion Shawn Rhoden and George Peterson hit the bodybuilding world hard at the end of 2021. In April, Cedric McMillan tragically passed away and this continued talk of how to better the sport overall.

In a recent interview with Muscle & Fitness, the three great bodybuilding minds were asked what they think is going on in bodybuilding and would could be done to make it better moving forward.

Flex Wheeler

Flex Wheeler is one of the top bodybuilders of all-time and continues to be an influential voice in the sport. During this conversation, he discussed how the use of different drugs has changed since his days on stage.
“Parabolan was our go-to drug. You can take it for extensive times, it didn’t have any heart damage and it didn’t have all these crazy side-effects like Tren. With Tren you can only run it for four weeks and then you have to get off. Flex said. I’m like ‘why?’ And they say because it’s toxic and I’m like ‘what!’. There were some things back in our day that you knew that you could only take this for 2-3 weeks and then you have to get off.”
Wheeler continued by stating that people are not as interested in the workout plan and diet of the athletes anymore. They are focused about hearing about their cycle.
“I think it’s obvious that it’s more of a drug world now. Because we traveled the world, and what was some of the first questions we get from all around the world: “What drugs do you take?” It’s not about back in our era when we were going to seminars, we want to know about their diets and training.”
Chris Cormier
Chris Cormier started off the conversation by discussing heart health of bodybuilders nowadays. He believes that there is too much stress on the heart due to the overall size of bodybuilders and the work that they have to put in.
“These guys are pushing a lot more, not how it is in the gym, but they’re putting a lot more stress on the heart. I feel like these bodybuilders are way bigger than what they were.

I just feel like pay close attention to that heart. You’re pumping it and putting a lot of stress on the heart. I feel like that’s going to be the biggest thing, is wise guys, you’ve been pumping for a lot of years.”
Since McMillan passed away, there has been an emphasis on heart health and Cormier believes this is the problem today.
Milos Sarcev
Last week, Charles Glass spoke on the dangers of drugs today because bodybuilders do not know what they are taking. There are counterfeit drugs out there being pawned off as something that they are not.
READ MORE: Milos Sarcev Lists The Most Shocking Pro Bodybuilding Transformations Ever
Milos Sarcev backed up this notion with his recent comments during this interview. This is becoming a growing problem in bodybuilding and it is dangerous for all involved.
“Back in the 90s, it was pharmaceutical grade. You get something that is from the pharmacy. You know what you’re taking. Now, it’s underground, god knows. Like Chris said, you have some names that you can’t even pronounce.
There are many issues that athletes believe need to be fixed when it comes to bodybuilding and PEDs are at the forefront. It will be interesting to see if these problems can be fixed and the overall health of the competitors can improve.

Nicolaas du Preez Reaches Competition Best With 926-Pound Squat In Training

Nicolaas du Preez Reaches Competition Best With 926-Pound Squat In Training

Nicolaas du Preez reached a familiar number in a training session.
Nicolaas du Preez seems to be taking his training to the next level and could be ready to return to competition. Despite not competing in a sanctioned competition since March 2021, du Preez has been able to maintain his huge numbers and showed it off with a 420kg (926lb) squat in training.
This was not a raw lift by du Preez considering that he used knee wraps, a lifting belt, and wrist straps. During competition, du Preez intends to compete raw with wraps. This 926-pound lift matched that of his competition-best to this point. The bar was a bit shaky but du Preez made this lift look easy, meaning there might be plenty more in the tank.

“420 ?▪️Wasted a lot of energy, at several instances, that’s all I can say. Still moved well so eh ??‍♀️▪️Last squat before #EliteRaw. Time to rest up. 12 days out”

Nicolaas du Preez has been training for the 2022 RPC Elite Raw powerlifting competition. This will take place on May 14 in South Africa. du Preez is looking shredded as he continues to prepare for competition. He has been able to maintain a bodyweight of 275 pounds as he inches closer and closer to the event.
Competing in the 125kg weight class, du Preez has a chance to do something that only two other men has done. Zahir Khudayarov and Eric Lilliebridge are the only competitors from this division to total over 1,050kg (2,315lb). When looking at some of his recent lifts, du Preez has a chance to reach this mark.

In recent training sessions, Nicolaas du Preez has put up some big numbers. Aside from this squat, du Preez has reached a 255kg (562.5lb) bench press and 405kg (893lb) deadlift. In his career, du Preez has competed in six competitions and is undefeated to this point.
Nicolaas du Preez Competition Best Lifts

Squat: 420 kg (925.9 lbs) – 2021 WPC-SA Power Wars
Bench Press: 245 kg (540.1 lbs) – 2021 WPC-SA Power Wars
Deadlift: 385 kg (848.7 lbs) – 2019 WPC-SA Power Wars
Total: 1030 kg (2270.7 lbs) – 2019 WPC-SA Power Wars

Nicolaas du Preez will plan to compete in his next competition raw in the 125kg division. This could be a special night if he is able to reach some new heights in the division and for his personal career.

Phil Heath Looks Huge In Workout Video, Says Chance Of Return ‘Staying At 5%’

Phil Heath Looks Huge In Workout Video, Says Chance Of Return ‘Staying At 5%’

Phil Heath continues to train in retirement and does not see a return coming.
Fans have been hoping to see Phil Heath return to the stage for quite some time now. After seeing workout videos of Heath recently, there is no question why fans believe that he can still dominate on stage. According to the legendary bodybuilder, a chance of a return is still slim.
Heath ranks second all-time with seven Olympia victories. He won the competition each year from 2011-2017 and is behind just Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney, who are tied with eight victories. In 2018, the late, great Shawn Rhoden defeated Heath. He returned to the 2020 Olympia, finishing third, and has not competed since.

Despite being retired, Heath has been able to maintain an elite physique and recently showed it off during a workout. In a recent interview, Heath revealed some secrets to his success.

“My mind was thinking like a boxer, this guy has got a great jab man and my jab may not have to be as good as his but I have to be able to move accordingly just to do the counter. If I can neutralize his strength, how is he going to deal with mine?” Phil Heath explained.
Phil Heath continued to explain how he was able to build a mentality and physique that made him a seven-time champion. It all began when he won his first title in 2011. Heath saw his competitors in a different light after finally reaching the pinnacle of the sport.
“I had arrived. That’s how I felt. It was all worth it. This is your new start. Because now you’re Mr. Olympia, you’re not these guys. You’ve already beat them. That’s in your rearview and fans may look at that like that’s cocky, no man, I did the work. I know the secret to my own success.”

Over the course of his early career, Heath used performances where he did not show his best to better him for the future. This includes a fifth-place finish at the Arnold Classic, which he referenced personally. Heath aimed to finish top-three and ended up in fifth place.
[embedded content]
This is when he decided to set new goals and just build the best version of himself. Heath was able to make the necessary changes and become a champion.
“It comes from hard work, discipline, and all that but when I recognized that I could do this better. Again, I talk about video games. The best thing is not just to get, you know I’m like old school arcade games. You go to an arcade, and you’re like I got my name in the game but you’re 10th dude. Don’t you want to be a number one, and that’s how I looked at it. I have an opportunity if I choose to play that game again and just challenge myself. How big can I go. It can be in anything. Literally anything.”
Despite remaining in top shape, Phil Heath does not see a return to the stage coming. Close to two years after Heath was last on stage, fans are holding out hope that one day he will attempt to win that coveted eighth Olympia title.

Jay Cutler Reveals Four Best Exercises To Build A Monstrous Chest

Jay Cutler Reveals Four Best Exercises To Build A Monstrous Chest

Jay Cutler put together a chest and bicep workout where he shared some of the top workouts.
Jay Cutler is one of the all-time greats in bodybuilding and has continued to maintain an impressive physique in retirement. Recently, Cutler put together a chest and bicep workout where he shared some of the top exercises to build monstrous size.
Cutler is a four-time Olympia champion. His first victory came in 2006 when he was able to end an eight-year reign by Ronnie Coleman. Since calling it a career on stage, Curler has continued to build a following because of his knowledge and passion for fitness and bodybuilding.

On Sunday, Jay Cutler released his most recent workout video sharing some of the top chest exercises that help build size and width.

Jay Cutler Chest & Bicep Workout

Standing Calf Raise Machine – 2 warmup sets of 10-12 reps, 4 working sets
Seated Calf Raises – 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps
Incline Hammer Press Machine – 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps
Flat Dumbbell Press – 3 sets of 10-12 reps
Cable Chest Press – 3 sets of 10
Flat Dumbbell Flyes – 3 sets of 10
Bicep Curl Machine – 1-2 warmup sets, 3 working sets of 10-12
Bicep Curls w/ EZ Bar – 4 sets of 10
Seated Bicep Cable Curls – 3 sets of 12
Hammer Curls – 3 sets of 10

Chest

Jay Cutler hit chest with some of his favorite exercises here. That was highlighted by dumbbell press on a flat bench. This was the second exercise of the day but Cutler believes it is No. 1 on his list on chest day.
“Favorite exercise, if you asked me what the best exercise to grow your chest, it is the seated, lying flat dumbbell press. Dumbbells preferably just because I always had one side that was stronger than the other. You guys ask that question a lot. Isolateral movements.”
Cutler began the chest portion of his workout with the incline hammer press machine before moving to dumbbell presses. Following three sets in both exercises, Cutler decided to take on the cables. This is a movement that he admits to not doing each week but decided to perform it in this particular workout.
The final chest exercise of the day was dumbbell flyes. Cutler laid on a flat bench and grabbed two dumbbells that were lighter in weight than those he used for presses. He explained that this exercise is great to build a certain area of the chest.
“You guys looking to build your under, outer pecs, great exercise for that. You notice an arch in my chest, even when I bench, with a lot of those movements I try to keep the chest out.”

Biceps
Jay Cutler added biceps to chest day in retirement because he admits to not liking arm day. He also trains triceps on shoulder day.
“I wanted to take arm training out of my routine because I hate it so much. I’ll be honest, I hate bi’s and tri’s. So instead of having a bi’s and tries day, which I did for most of my career, I moved them to chest and shoulder days.”
This was the next portion of his workout performing different variations of curls including seated cable curls and hammer curls. Cutler also performed an EZ bar curl with a wide grip. He used a thicker bar in order to focus on his grip and make the lift more difficult.
“I do not like to curl with a thin bar. This is a wider grip. It kills your ego a bit because you have to be lighter with the weight.”
Calves
Jay Cutler makes sure to include calves into his regular training. This was the first movement that he did in order to warmup and get the blood flowing. Cutler performed sets on the seated calf machine and standing calf machine. Some say that they target different areas of the muscle but Cutler is not so sure.
“They always say that with calf training, the standing calf works the inner calf and the seated works the outer because you’re seated in a bent-knee position. I don’t know if I believe that very much.”

Chris Bumstead Shares Sleeve-Ripping Arm Workout To Build Size

Chris Bumstead Shares Sleeve-Ripping Arm Workout To Build Size

Chris Bumstead shared his favorite arm-day workout to crush his biceps and triceps.
Chris Bumstead is the reigning three-time Classic Physique Olympia champion but he is never satisfied with his physique. This offseason, Bumstead has battled different obstacles but is looking better than ever during training sessions. In a recent YouTube video, Bumstead shared a massive arm workout that he has been using to build size.
Bumstead has a chance to make it four Olympia victories in a row in December in Las Vegas. Early in the year, Bumstead contracted COVID-19 and was forced to take some time off but has since returned to training and is in the midst of bulking.

Chris Bumstead has continued to put on weight and build the size needed to win yet another title. This includes his arms, which has been a focus recently but is not always over the course of the year.
“I definitely have the arm days in right now. I don’t always throughout the year but I just want them to grow more. And they’ve finally been growing since last year,” Bumstead said.

Chris Bumstead Arm Workout

Rope Push-Downs and Overhead Tricep Extensions – Superset, 2 sets
Preacher Curls – 3-4 working sets
Incline Dumbbell Skull Crushers – 3 sets
Seated Dumbbell Curls and Hammer Curls on Cable Machine – Superset, 3 sets
Crossbody Cable Triceps Extension – 2 heavy sets followed by drop set

READ MORE: Chris Bumstead Details 5,000-Calorie Bulking Diet
Supersets
Chris Bumstead throws two supersets into the mix when performing this workout. It begins with the first duo of the day to pump the triceps. When performing rope push-downs and overhead tricep extensions together, Bumstead highlights the feeling of contracting the muscle followed by a stretch.
“I’ve been starting with this basically for the last four months. Basic tricep extensions with the rope and superset with over the head. It gives a tight squeeze at the bottom and when you go over the head, it gives you a tight stretch, or big stretch…You get a pump from the normal tricep extensions and then you go overhead and you stretch them, giving you this crazy burn and it feels super good.”
The next superset comes later in the workout for biceps. Bumstead hits one for each side of the arm focusing on technique.
Preacher Curls
After warming up the triceps, Bumstead begins to alternate exercises between bicep and triceps. The first of the day for biceps came on Bumstead’s favorite machine.
“This right here, this beautiful blue machine, is the GOAT bicep machine for myself personally. It’s what I figured out is the best way to contract my bicep on a heavy load, push your intensity, while keeping the load on my bicep. It’s much easier on a preacher curl, your bicep is stuck in a stiff position.”
Bumstead explains that this machine is one where he continues to get stronger. He loads up the bar with one 25-pound weight on each side before adding a second later in the workout. Since this is one of his favorite machines, Bumstead does it for 3-4 working sets pumping out as many reps as possible.

Incline Dumbbell Skull Crushers
Chris Bumstead likes to isolate triceps here and it helps to take some pressure off the shoulders. Doing this workout like this will allow the lifter to target the triceps and with the right technique, it will allow the triceps to be worked equally.
“I like doing these because it allows you to focus on each arm individually.”
Crossbody Cable Tricep Extension
Bumstead finishes the workout with this exercise because it is easier to pump out a big number of reps at the end of training. This is where the tricep can be worked across the body instead of parallel like earlier in the session.
“It’s a little easier to pound some reps out at the end of your workout…Bringing across your body sideways instead of parallel with the body like I was doing earlier with the bicep.”
