Hunter Labrada Continues Training With Heavy Squats, Hits 17 Reps Of 495 Pounds

Hunter Labrada feels good in the gym and this means he will continue training with big weight.
Hunter Labrada is working his way back up to moving huge weight in the gym and this will continue as long as he feels good. After a recent leg day, it seems as though Labrada feels just fine after completing 17 reps of 495-pound barbell squats.
Labrada took to Instagram to show off a set during a training session. He took on the squats using a lifting belt, knee wraps, and lifting shoes while resistance bands were wrapped around the barbell rack and looped around the bar.

“Mentioned this the last time I posted a leg day, but 3 leg sessions ago I strained my quad on the 11th rep with 585 on this setup. The next session I did very light loading that didn’t hurt it at all. The session before todays I got back under the bar and did a very cautious/gunshy 10 reps with 495.–Today I was still a little gunshy, not going to lie, but there wasn’t any pain like last session, just a little awareness in the previously injured area. From here I will start to progress the load again as long as everything feels good to go next session!”

Hunter Labrada has built incredible size and is one of the mass monsters in Men’s Open. It is because of workouts like this one. Labrada mentioned that he is working his way back up in weight after straining his quad during a 585-pound squat session. This is why he has been taking it easy for a few days but seems to have full strength back.
Labrada finished fourth during the 2021 Olympia. He entered the competition earning qualification from his victory during the Chicago Pro. Now, he is fully focused on the Olympia in December. This is where he will try to build off a finish where he was defeated by just three competitors — Big Ramy, Brandon Curry, and Hadi Choopan.

While Labrada has not competed officially, he has appeared on stage as a guest poser showing off some gains acquired this offseason. Labrada has focused on his legs along with adding thickness and width to his back.
Hunter Labrada continues to be one of the best in Men’s Open this year and that will be on full display during the Olympia. With the package that Labrada is building, it could be a special show once again.

Hunter Labrada Shows Off Massive Back Gains Achieved In Nine Months

Hunter Labrada Shows Off Massive Back Gains Achieved In Nine Months

Hunter Labrada has put in some huge work since the 2021 Chicago Pro.
Hunter Labrada has been on a tear putting on size in many ways over the course of the season. He has his sights set on the 2022 Olympia competition and it showed in a recent physique update. Labrada shared side-by-side photos of his back gains and it is visible in his lower lats.
Labrada last competed in the 2021 Olympia back in September where he finished fourth. The picture on the left in his latest Instagram post shows his back during his victory at the 2021 Chicago Pro. This is the progression that has been made from July 2021 to March 2022.

“July 25th 2021 vs. March 23rd, 2022–1 day after Chicago vs this offseason–252lbs vs 282lbs–Still have close to 5 months to continue to grow before the ⭕️ prep starts, and still have PLENTY of bullets left in the gun to do so?”

Hunter Labrada has put on 31 pounds since the Chicago Pro. He shared that his bodyweight during the competition was 251 pounds compared to 282 pounds currently. This is great progression especially with five months left of bulking before he begins preparing for the Olympia in December.
Labrada has put some serious effort into building his back and this is a way that he can gain an advantage on the field. He made his pro debut in 2020 and has already made his way near the top of Men’s Open bodybuilding. He finished eighth at his first Olympia in 2020 and jumped up four spots in 2021. Labrada is one of the best, young stars in the sport and will look to contend with the likes of Brandon Curry, Hadi Choopan, and of course Big Ramy, who is the reigning two-time champion.

At this pace, Labrada will show up with more mass than he did in 2021. He has built muscle across his entire back and has made sure to hit his lower lats using different sets of workouts.
Hunter Labrada is the son of bodybuilding great Lee Labrada. The sport is in his blood and he has been around it his entire life. Because of this, he understands how it works and what the training regimens must look like. It seems as though Labrada is hitting all of them where he needs.

Supplementation
While Hunter uses his own supplements of choice, there are some staple products on a bodybuilder’s shelf. A protein powder is perfect for seeing gains and working to pump you with vital protein to aid in things like muscle growth, recovery, and even weight loss, since this works to keep you more full.
For those pre-workout needs, looking to something like a pre-workout will provide for serious energy and muscle pumps so you can take full advantage of every workout. Of course, a shredded aesthetic is the end goal and looking to fat burners will be game changers in that they will kickstart your metabolism, suppress your appetite, and allow for the more calorie burn to give you the best benefits possible.

Whether it’s adding pounds of muscle to their frame or working on their weaknesses, the off season is a time of opportunities for athletes to prep for the coming competitive season. The up and coming and talented Hunter Labrada appears to be pushing himself to the limit.
After coming in fourth place at the 2021 Olympia it’s clear that Hunter Labrada has the goods. He could easily break into the top three with a strong showing at the next Olympia. In order to achieve that however Labrada will have to focus on improving on his weaknesses while building upon his strengths.

Spent the last day of 2021 getting a head start on one of my 2022 resolutions:
Build a Mr. Olympia quality back
Bodyweight is 270-272 fasted right now, still another 4 weeks to go in my current health/recovery phase before we begin this offseason push. Very happy with my composition and how much tissue I’m holding on to.
Early dinner tonight with the homies, and then home for a night of games and going to bed early-ish so instead of being brutally hungover for the first session of 2022, I’m primed and ready??

Massive Gains

Now headed into 2022 Hunter Labrada is throwing down the gauntlet and bringing his all. He hasn’t even entered into his official off season yet Labrada is looking like he’s added a ton of muscle to his frame.

Day 1 of 349 was won today.
Why 349 and not 365? Because that’s how many days there are until the 2022 @mrolympiallc. Planning on spending the rest of the year celebrating after that??
Happy new year everyone! Wishing all of y’all blessings and success in 2022????
And yes, I am in Birkenstock’s…. It was arm day???

Hunter Labrada has what it takes to go to the next level. If his current physique is any indication Labrada has clear intentions of conquering the bodybuilding world.

Combining Classic and Modern Eras, Hunter Labrada Could Be a Future Mr. Olympia

Could Hunter Labrada one day reign as Mr. Olympia.
With a classic style mixed with a modern physique, Hunter Labrada has all the tools necessary to make him a top contender for the Olympia crown. His impressive performance could just be a prelude to what’s to come for the young bodybuilder.
No one can remain on top forever. Everyone has their time in the sun and must do with it what they can. Once your time is up, it can be nearly impossible to reclaim your glory, particularly where sporting ventures are concerned. Ask Ronnie Coleman and Phil Heath, two long reigning Mr. Olympia champions. It’s hard to become champion, even harder to defend the title, and basically impossible when their reign has come to an end.
New Blood

But with the ending of a reign comes new blood. Fresh faces are coming to the forefront of bodybuilding. A new era is beginning. While Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay reigns as the current Mr. Olympia, he won’t hold the title for all time. There are other young, hungry contenders who are up to the task of taking on the best of the best to earn the right to be crowned Mr. Olympia. One of the top contenders to potentially hold that coveted title is none other than the up and coming Hunter Labrada.
The son of the legendary Lee Labrada, Hunter Labrada has all the tools necessary to become a future Mr. Olympia champion. Hunter came in fourth place at the 2021 Olympia, even outpointing top bodybuilder and fellow fresh faced contender Nick Walker. Hunter clearly has some attributes that will make him an ideal Mr. Olympia.

At 29 years of age, Hunter Labrada is in that sweet spot in terms of bodybuilding. Many bodybuilders come into their own in their 30s meaning that Hunter has yet to hit his prime. That means that we haven’t even seen his full potential as of yet. From what we can see, Hunter has a well balanced physique, symmetrical and well muscled. If he can mange to dial in his conditioning even more and fine tune his posing routine, he could easily find himself in the top three at next year’s show.
A Modern Classic
What we saw was Hunter Labrada being able to marry the classic and modern eras of bodybuilding. He has a classic influence from his father while maintaining a well muscled and massive frame we’ve come to know as the standard of modern bodybuilding. His routine at the 2021 Olympia showed just how deadly the combo can be when well executed together.

With Lee Labrada helping him every step of the way, it’s very possible that we could see Hunter make further strides in his posing ability. He has the kind of balanced physique that has seen champions like Brandon Curry, Shawn Rhoden, and Phil Heath outduel the competition. While he still may have some years before he can actually ascend to the thrown, Hunter Labrada has all the ingredients necessary to usher in a new era of bodybuilding.

Lee Labrada Believes Son, Hunter, Is Destined To Win Olympia

Lee Labrada Believes Son, Hunter, Is Destined To Win Olympia

Lee Labrada has some high hopes and belief in his son, Hunter, moving forward.
Lee Labrada knows a thing or two about the sport of bodybuilding. When he predicts great things for his son, Hunter, it might go beyond the normal father-son belief.
On Muscle & Fitness’ “The Menace Podcast” hosted by Dennis James, Lee said that he believes Hunter is destined to be a champion at the Olympia. With how his career has begun, Hunter has a good chance to earn the highest honor.
“I do see a Mr. Olympia win in his future,” Lee Labrada said.
“I would love for him to win the Mr. Olympia. I’ve told him before ‘Hunter, you’re going to finish what I started. You’re going to be Mr. Olympia one day.’”

Lee Labrada has 13 victories in professional bodybuilding competitions. This includes being named Mr. Universe in 1985. He has a successful history at the Olympia where he finished in the top four for seven-straight years — including two second-place finishes. He has spoken highly of his son and it seems to be paying off.
Hunter Labrada won the 2020 Tampa Pro and earned qualification to the Olympia, where he finished eighth. He earned his second major victory at the 2021 Chicago Pro and is prepared to compete at the biggest event of the year for the second-straight year. Labrada has a chance to finish even higher this time around.

There is a bright future in the sport of bodybuilding for Labrada but it did not almost come to be as his father wanted him to focus on football.
“He told me ‘Dad, I don’t want to play football anymore,” Lee Labrada said. “It’s just not in my heart.’ I tried to keep him in football. I wanted him to have the college football experience,” he admitted. “He said, ‘My heart’s not in it. If my heart’s not in it, I’m not going to give it 100 percent, and if I don’t give it 100 percent, I stand a risk of getting hurt. This isn’t a sport you play that you hold back. If I get hurt, I’m not going to be able to pursue my dream of being a professional bodybuilder.’ I go, ‘ok.’”
With his size, it is not surprising that Hunter Labrada was a football player. He seems to have made the right choice when looking at his physique on stage against some of the tp competitors in the world. There is definitely a bright future for Labrada and that could continue with an Olympia title.

Hunter Labrada Looks Massive Prior To 2021 Olympia

Hunter Labrada gave a recent physique update in preparation for the Olympia.
Hunter Labrada wants to put on a better show than he did during his first Olympia in 2020. He placed eighth in Men’s Open and by the looks of his social media, Labrada can be a big-time force heading into the event.

“4 weeks out from the ⭕️!–Big changes this week! Really happy with how I’m tightening up with my weight holding!–Last weeks fasted weight: 261lbs
This morning: 261lbs”

Hunter Labrada is no stranger to bodybuilding. This is a sport that has been in his family for years. Lee Labrada, Hunter’s father, placed top three in the Olympia four times during his career. Now, his son is looking to stay on that path and make some noise on the biggest stage.
Labrada also took the time to lay out his process in the gym and with his diet with just under a month before the Olympia.

“Nutrition: changed enough this week I’m going to run what I’ve got for another 2-3 days and go from there! Ate a bit yesterday to fill out for my guest posing, and my body absolutely blasted through all the extra food. Metabolism is definitely turnt!–Training: this past week was the first week I started to feel a little brittle? things are starting to dry out, and it’s time to be smart! Notice I didn’t say back off! Intensity will stay sky high??–Cardio: 25 min fasted in the morning, 20 min fasted at night, with my hr between 130-150 the whole time.”
Hunter Labrada has been a pro since winning the 2018 NPC Nationals. He did not lose a competition as an amateur and was victorious in his pro debut at the 2020 Tampa Pro.
Heading into the Olympia, Labrada knows that he will have to go up against some of the best in the world. 2020 Olympia champion Big Ramy and 2019 champ Brandon Curry are all set to compete once again.
Labrada has the muscle mass and definition needed to compete and perform well at the Olympia. With just under a month left, he will be in the final stretch of preparation for the biggest event of the year.

Victor Martinez: Hunter Labrada Has The Mass Of Nick Walker & The Shape Of Blessing

Victor Martinez: Hunter Labrada Has The Mass Of Nick Walker & The Shape Of Blessing

[embedded content]
Victor Martinez critiques three of the biggest up and coming pro bodybuilders – Nick Walker, Blessing Awodibu, and Hunter Labrada.
In late 2020 and through the first half of 2021, three names have stood out as rising stars in the pro league. Those three athletes are Nick Walker, Hunter Labrada, and Blessing Awodibu. With a few pro shows under each of their belts, they have showcased extremely promising physiques. That’s why we’ve turned to veteran Victor Martinez for his analysis on these three bodybuilders – and what we can expect from them in the future. In our latest GI Exclusive, Victor Martinez discusses how Hunter Labrada hits the sweet spot of size and shape – standing out above Nick Walker and Blessing Awodibu.

Over the past few years, pro bodybuilding has been in a transitionary stage. We’ve had three different Mr. Olympia champions in three years. We’ve also seen a handful of new younger athletes rise into the spotlight. The torch is in the process of being passed – and a new generation of bodybuilders are ready to prove their worth.
Three standout athletes in particular are Nick Walker, Blessing Awodibu, and Hunter Labrada. Nick Walker just won first place at the New York Pro 2021, solidifying the hype surrounding his massive physique. Blessing Awodibu, while not winning any major competitions – remained in top placings with a threatening physique that simply needs some fine tuning.
Hunter Labrada has not yet competed in 2021, but his last appearances in 2020 caught a lot of attention. His aesthetic, conditioning reminded many of his father Lee Labrada. On top of that, he seems to be bringing in a more modern level of muscle mass. Will this make him a true contender to be a future Mr. Olympia champion?
We spoke with Victor Martinez during our video interview and asked him who he thought were the most interesting young bodybuilders rising in the ranks. Martinez gave immense praise to all three of these bodybuilders – but singled Hunter Labrada out as the one with most promise. The reason? He appears to hold the perfect combination of strengths between Nick Walker and Blessing Awodibu.

Victor Martinez had this to say about Hunter Labrada during our interview:
“Labrada has the mass of Nick and the shape of Blessing. He’s like an in between of both of them. Because Blessing has great shape, the mass, keeps dieting and it’s going down. Nick Walker is just staying massive but he doesn’t have the shape.”
Of course, time can change a lot of things. Victor Martinez’s comments were made just before the New York Pro 2021. While his opinion might still stand – Nick Walker’s win will certainly give him confidence to continue improving.
Big Ramy was a bodybuilder who many thought would never be able to find the right balance of size and conditioning. He ultimately proved them wrong. Nick Walker is too early in his career for anyone to make permanent assumptions. We’ve yet to see the full potential of his abilities – but as Big Ramy proved – either way incredible things can happen.
As it stands now, Hunter Labrada simply has the work ethic and the genetics to truly impress Victor Martinez. And he’s not alone. Many fans and fellow bodybuilders are surprised at just how on point Hunter Labrada has looked the past year. We can’t wait to see what kind of damage he can do when he next steps on stage.
You can watch Victor Martinez’ full comments in our latest GI Exclusive interview segment above!

His recent leg day in prep fir the Chicago Pro shows just how insane Labrada’s physique is. Hunter Labrada is building some insane wheels ahead of the show and his competition should be on notice.
Monstrous Legs
Hunter Labrada broke down his quad training in his recent post and it definitely sounds brutal.

First quad day on the new split and it was a great one! Put split squats back into the rotation for “quads A” and as you can see from the video where I look like I have newborn baby giraffe legs, it’s been a while since I’ve done them! Always will show the good and the bad?
Quads A:
A1 standing calf (no video)- 1 straight set 10-12 reps, 1 triple drop set aiming for 10 reps a stop
B1 seated calf (no video)- 1 straight set 10-12 reps, 1 triple drop set aiming for 10 reps a stop
C1 abductor (no video)- 1 straight set 10-12 reps
D1 adductor (no video)- 1 straight set 10-12 reps
E1 @arsenal_strength pendulum with @elitefts grey band- 1 working set 8-12 reps (all time pr for this, 3pps for 9 + 1)
F1 split squats with @primefitnessusa 15 degree wedge- 1 working set 12-15 reps (first time doing these in forever, definitely almost ate shit?)
G1 @primefitnessusa leg extension (set split into 2 videos)- 1 triple drop set aiming for 10 reps a stop (didn’t happen for me?)
All in all a great session, I’m looking forward to really progressing on the new split, and the new exercises within it! Ill be doing an in depth video in the near future on that for sure??

It’s clear that Hunter Labrada is taking his training to the next level. It’s only a matter of time before he becomes a real threat to the Olympia title.
What do you think of Hunter Labrada and his future in bodybuilding?
