Jay Cutler Will Be Part Of International Sports Hall Of Fame Class of 2021

Jay Cutler Will Be Part Of International Sports Hall Of Fame Class of 2021

Jay Cutler will receive the honor after his legendary career in bodybuilding.
Jay Cutler put together a legendary career as a bodybuilder and he will be honored for his accomplishments. Cutler will be inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2021. Chairman Dr. Robert Goldman took to Facebook to announce the incoming class.
The ceremony will take place on Oct. 9 during the 2021 Olympia in Orlando. In 2020, Goldman hosted the ceremony along with Arnold Schwarzenegger during the 2020 Arnold Sports Festival. The post by Goldman featured all information on the upcoming awards along with the other names that Cutler will join as part of the class.

Cutler will join NFL Hall of Fame Marcus Allen, WWE’s Stephanie McMahon, seven-time World Karate Champion Billy Blanks, World Fencing Champion Peter Westbrook, and US National Tae Kwon Do Champion Ernie Reyes.

Jay Cutler began training for competition when he was 18 years old. He earned his pro card in 1996 after winning the NPC National and this was the beginning of one of the best careers in the sport.
Cutler immediately made an impact on stage. He earned three victories at the Arnold Classic in 2002, 2003, and 2004. This set up what would be years of dominance in the biggest competition of the year.

Despite Cutler’s success in the Olympia, it was not easy to get to the top. He placed second in four times behind Ronnie Coleman, who still holds the record with eight victories. Cutler was able to get over the hump in 2006 when he defeated Coleman and won his first Olympia. He would then go back-to-back in 2007 before being topped in 2008 by Dexter Jackson.
Cutler would get back on top in the very next competition and win his fourth in 2009. He returned to stage in 2011 and was defeated by seven-time champion Phil Heath. Cutler would retire following a sixth place finish in the 2013 Olympia.
There is no doubt that Jay Cutler competed in one of the best eras of bodybuilding against some of the top competitors in the world. He has put together one of the best careers in the sport and will now be honored for the work he has put in.

Melvin Anthony’s Behind The Scenes Account Of Jay Cutler Defeating Ronnie Coleman At Olympia 2006

Melvin Anthony’s Behind The Scenes Account Of Jay Cutler Defeating Ronnie Coleman At Olympia 2006

Melvin Anthony shares his first hand story of seeing Jay Cutler defeat Ronnie Coleman for the first time.
Ronnie Coleman is a bodybuilder of legends. He’s arguably the greatest bodybuilder to ever live. So of course, the moment when he was finally defeated from his Mr. Olympia reign was a noteworthy one. The man to take down Coleman was Jay Cutler – who went on to win four Mr. Olympia titles. Many bodybuilding fans have seen the footage – but only a small number of people were there in person for this historic moment. In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Melvin Anthony shares his behind the scenes first hand account of Jay Cutler’s victory over Ronnie Coleman at Olympia 2006.
Melvin Anthony was competing at the Mr. Olympia in 2006. So not only was he in person to witness Ronnie Coleman’s defeat after eight Mr. Olympia wins, he was also behind the scenes in the events leading up to it. That’s why in our video interview, we asked Anthony to break down what that experience was like. Was it clear from the beginning that Jay Cutler would take down The King? Or was it a surprise for even the competitors?
Melvin Anthony admits that his perception on the moment is slightly skewed. He was competing himself – and so he had tunnel vision due to the hunger for victory. He wasn’t worrying whether or not Jay Cutler could beat Coleman. He instead was focused on being the one to beat Coleman himself.

Despite this, Melvin Anthony had some interesting stories to tell about the Olympia 2016. Once Anthony saw Jay Cutler and Ronnie Coleman pose – he knew that he wouldn’t be able to take the first place spot. It’s at this moment he was able to focus on the battle between Jay Cutler and Ronnie Coleman with more focus.
Was he surprised that Ronnie Coleman lost? No, not really. This isn’t because it was obvious he would lose. It was because in a sport like bodybuilding – anything can happen between competitors at this top tier level. In fact, Melvin Anthony believes that Jay Cutler had a better physique in previous years. Cutler only lost because he lost the mental game.
Melvin Anthony describes a moment from a previous Olympia, when Ronnie Coleman came out to warm up backastage and, according to Anthony, you could see Coleman’s size grow as he got pumped up. It was in that moment that Jay Cutler go psyched out. By having his mental game thrown off – his physique diminished and he lost to Coleman.
Anthony believes that Jay Cutler’s physique was slightly less on point in 2006 – but his mental game was completely on point. It helped take down Ronnie Coleman. The moment was a big one. It was the passing of the torch and the end of an era for one of the longest running Mr. Olympia champions. Everyone knew that day that there would never be another like Ronnie Coleman.

Victor Martinez Is Open To Rematch Jay Cutler In A Special “Exhibition” Show

Victor Martinez Is Open To Rematch Jay Cutler In A Special “Exhibition” Show

Victor Martinez would be more than happy to have a bodybuilding rematch with Jay Cutler.
Most bodybuilding fans know the infamous Olympia 2007 battle between Victor Martinez and Jay Cutler. Many believed that Martinez was a shoe-in to defeat Cutler and become the new Mr. Olympia. That ultimately didn’t happen. In a major upset, Cutler retained his champion. To this day many fans and even athletes believe Martinez should have won that show. Now all these years later and with the rise of “super fights” in boxing – could we one day see a rematch between them? In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Victor Martinez opens the possibility of an exhibition rematch with Jay Cutler.

For Victor Martinez, his bodybuilding career didn’t go as expected. By 2007, he was one of the biggest threats to the Mr. Olympia title. The controversial loss to Jay Cutler still stands out as a big moment in bodybuilding history. After that, Martinez found himself incarcerated, which completely removed his ability to maintain his superior physique. His attempt to return was chronicled in the original Generation Iron in 2013.
Since then, Victor Martinez has had some ups and downs in the sport. He’s found some success on major bodybuilding competitions – but never came as close to Olympia victory as he did in 2007. Most recently, he hardly competes.
That’s why during our most recent interview, we asked him what his future plans are in and out of bodybuilding. He is a man who has started a few businesses in the past. He has an entrepreneurial spirit – and is eyeing a few options ahead. But what about in terms of competitive bodybuilding?
Victor Martinez admitted he has little reason to return to seriously competing. But there was one catch. He discussed how he would be open to rematching Jay Cutler. Not in a tried and true IFBB league show – but instead as a sort of super match. Something similar to the recent super fight between Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather.

“Now I’ll tell you one thing. The only way I will compete is that if we do some Mayweather or Connor stuff.,” Victor Martinez states in our interview. He continues:
“Let’s say Jay Cutler says, ‘Vic I want to challenge you’ or say I want to challenge Jay. Let’s go for a one on one pay per view, you know, and make it American Idol type – let them choose the winner. Let’s collect funds Jay.”
At this point, the entire conversation is completely theoretical. There is no match being prepared and not even a clue if Jay Cutler would be interested. But one thing that’s important to note – is that Martinez states this is the only way he would compete again.
It seems whether or not this dream rematch will come true – that Victor Martinez has little interest in competing within the traditional IFBB path. He’s moved onto other future plans. Whether or not that would include a special battle against Jay Cutler… well, maybe it will become a reality if the fans make enough noise after his statement.
