Joey Swoll Calls Out Man for Breaking Shirtless Gym Rules: ‘If You Can’t Respect the Staff, Stay Home’
Joey Swoll is back once again in an effort to correct ‘toxic gym culture.’ This time, Swoll took to Twitter to call out a man who blatantly ignored gym rules and worked out without a shirt after a staff member politely asked him to wear one.
Influencer Joey Swoll is a well-known figure in the fitness industry who has been challenging ‘toxic gym culture’ or what people commonly refer to as poor gym etiquette. He stands up for people who face cruel attacks, harassment, and bullying. His ultimate goal is to make gyms and fitness centers more inclusive and supportive spaces.
These hostile gym encounters are all too common nowadays and with the prevalence of social media, they are often caught on camera, making Swoll a busy man. The last time Swoll got involved, he fired shots at a woman using the Stairmaster who gloated about moving faster than the person next to her. Swoll took it upon himself to defend the other gym-goer. Despite her pace, she was at the gym trying to better herself, which is something Swoll believes should never be looked down on.
In his latest video stitch, Swoll took issue with a man who broke his gym’s rules by working out without a shirt. After he was confronted by gym staff, he complied. However, as soon as she left, he took his shirt back off and continued on the treadmill. The man in the video mentioned that he was told to put a shirt on because he was making others feel insecure but Swoll isn’t buying his story.

Swoll doesn’t believe the man was told by gym staff that he was making others feel insecure. Despite the gym staffer’s courteous warning, Swoll underlined that the man still arrogantly disobeyed the rules.
“You know I’m not the best lip reader, but I’ll bet that she didn’t tell you to put your shirt on because you make other people feel insecure. There’s literally nobody even looking at you in this video. She told you to put your shirt on because those are the rules of the gym. Everybody has to wear a shirt, including you. And she told you because she’s an employee of the gym, she works there, she’s enforcing the rules, that’s her job.
And she’s very nice about it. She’s respectful, she tells you, she smiles, and she walks away. And what do you do? You take your shirt off anyway. You act like you’re better than everybody else just to make this video so you can get some likes and attention on social media. Really? I’m sorry. You don’t own the gym. If you can’t respect staff, if you can’t respect the rules of the gym, stay home or build your own. Until then, you need to do better. Mind your own business,” Swoll shared.
Even though Swoll has worked hard to make gyms more welcoming, he continues to encounter problem after problem. Earlier this month, Swoll contacted Planet Fitness after multiple men in a locker room harassed and bullied a special needs person.

Swoll hasn’t let up on his goal to make gyms better for everyone. Former seven-time Mr. Olympia and bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger took notice of his movement and extended his support for Swoll’s mission. Given how often these unfortunate situations arise, Swoll hopes to see more people respect the rules and staff present at gyms in the future.

Joey Swoll Reacts to Woman Mocking Gym-Goer for Going Too Slow on Stairmaster
With gyms and fitness centers a hot spot for viral social media trends, Joey Swoll has been a busy man. In his latest attempt to correct poor gym etiquette, Swoll took issue with a woman who shamed a gym-goer for failing to keep up with her pace on the Stairmaster machine.
Over the last few years, Joey Swoll has become popular in the fitness sector for his continued fight against what he calls ‘toxic gym culture.’ Swoll makes it his top priority to defend people who have become the victim of ruthless attacks, whether it be online or in-person. Ultimately, Swoll wants to see gyms turn into more welcoming places.
Even bodybuilders have begun to encounter issues at the gym. NPC bodybuilder Charly Young was unfortunately involved in a strange mix-up recently. While posing shirtless in front of a mirror, a man started fighting with Charly. While Young’s gym allowed for posing, some don’t. Regardless, Young handled the moment of aggression with class. Swoll later commended his mature behavior.
This is far from Swoll’s first video taking a shot at someone recording at the gym. One of the last times fans heard from Joey, he stressed that public gyms aren’t private studios for influencers. Moreover, he said recording at the gym shouldn’t be a concern for everyone there aiming to work out.
Joey Swoll to Woman Mocking Slower Gym-Goer: ‘She’s Trying to Better Herself, Take a Page Out of Her Book’
Swoll believes recording people without their permission is never acceptable. In the Instagram video, the lady was attempting to market a caffeine product, but Swoll said she went about it disrespectfully.
“So you want to film that woman to post on social media to shame her, to make fun of the way she works out all for what? For some likes and attention? To act as if you’re better than her and you’re working harder all because you’re going faster. And to sell a product? Really? You’re a grown woman at the gym and you don’t know better than to treat people this way?
And I checked Caffeine Army USA’s page, I’m pretty sure this isn’t the message they want to put out there to sell their product. You know, I’m a pretty fit person but I have a bad knee. I guarantee there are days where that woman you’re filming would smoke me on stairs. Maybe she has a bad knee, it doesn’t matter.
All that matters is she’s in the gym working hard trying to better herself, you know, you could take a page out of her book,” said Joey Swoll.
This wasn’t the first time an influencer fell into Joey’s crosshairs as a result of a rude gym encounter. Back in Feb., Swoll called out a TikTok influencer after she mocked an elderly man performing strikes on a heavy bag at his local gym. Again, Swoll highlighted that people online need to stop recording others unjustly for likes and attention.

Given that people exercise at gyms for a variety of reasons, Swoll hopes his latest subject changes her ways. Many lifters and gym-goers experience injuries, which can obviously affect the way in which a workout is performed. In the months to come, Swoll aims to continue fighting against poor gym etiquette as his movement has gained traction. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken notice of Swoll’s efforts lately.

Joey Swoll Prompts Gym to Step In for Special Needs Man Targeted in ‘Very Disturbing’ Video
Social media fitness influencer Joey Swoll has carved his own space in the industry with his gym-positivity brand. He’s not afraid to call out poor gym etiquette, whether it be while working on machines or invading others’ space by recording irresponsibly. In a recent post made on Instagram, Swoll implored Planet Fitness to step in after a special needs gym member got targeted in a disturbing locker room video.
Joey Swoll is leading the charge against the rise in toxic gym culture stemming from the growth of social media platforms such as TikTok, where the content that goes viral isn’t necessarily healthy. Many aspiring influencers take to the short-form video channel in hopes of amassing fame and fortune with all different kinds of content. However, there comes a point where it no longer seems appropriate in the training room.
A female TikToker named Jessica Hernandez made headlines after hurling insults at a man who glanced in her direction earlier this year. Swoll bashed Hernandez for twisting the situation out of context and going as far as to say that he should die for being a pervert when he actually offered to help her set up the weights on the barbell. Hernandez realized her mistake after the call-out and issued an apology message crediting Swoll and his fanbase for the wake-up call.
Bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger took notice of Swoll’s positive movement and joined forces with him for promoting the mission of making gyms a safe space for everyone five months ago.
IFBB Pro bodybuilder Mark Hunter Jr. recorded his experience of facing a hostile gym worker who falsely thought he did not re-rack the weights properly months ago. Swoll rebuked the employee for treating Hunter Jr. rudely and canceling his membership based on a misunderstanding.
Two months ago, Joey Swoll took issue with Chelsea soccer player Mykhailo Mudryk for making fun of a man whose pants dropped while working out. He called on Mudryk to reflect on his actions and work on setting a better example as a professional athlete.
Swoll criticized a female TikToker for improperly recording a fellow male gym-goer without his consent in between sets last month. He argued not everyone feels comfortable being recorded in the gym and urged her to be more considerate of others next time.
Joey Swoll Implores Gym to Step In for Special Needs Man Targeted in a ‘Very Disturbing’ Video
In a recent Instagram post, Joey Swoll requested Planet Fitness to do something after he found a video of a special-needs man getting mocked in the gym’s locker room.
“Today I was sent a very disturbing video of someone filming a special needs man in the gym locker room to post on social media and make fun of him. I’m not going to share the video. Instead, I sent it to @PlanetFitness in hopes they do the right thing and take appropriate action.”
“It’s very sad what people will do to others just for attention on social media,” he captioned.
Joey Swoll voiced his disapproval of a woman who refused to share machines while performing supersets over two weeks ago. He reproached her for rudely slamming a man who tried to use one of the four machines she was hogging and encouraged her to work on her gym etiquette.
Swoll put social media influencers on blast for getting upset over people walking in the frame of their videos working out earlier this week. He argued such an expectation can’t be set while training at public gyms and called on her to get a private gym instead.
His latest message takes his movement a step forward in making gyms a positive and welcoming space for everyone.

“The Gym Is Not Your Personal Studio” – Joey Swoll Calls Out Influencers Recording at Gyms
Fitness personality Joey Swoll is taking aim at people recording irresponsibly at gyms and fitness centers. In a recent Instagram post, Swoll took issue with an influencer who was frustrated after gym-goers walked in front of her camera during a training session.
With a rise in social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, Joey Swoll has been a busy man in his attempt to correct poor gym etiquette or what he refers to as ‘Toxic gym culture.’ Whether it’s disrespect, hostility, or aggression, Swoll’s hope is to make gyms a safer and more welcoming place by defending people who refuse to speak up for themselves.
In his latest attempt to better the scene, Swoll is addressing a hot topic in fitness: influencers recording at gyms. While some companies have a zero-tolerance policy against recording, other gyms allow it. In the video, Swoll called out the woman who was upset by the gym’s apparent foot traffic.
“If you’re going to film at a gym that allows you to take videos, you need to do so responsibly with respect to other people. That means not getting upset if someone walks through your camera and then posting it on social media,” said Joey Swoll.
Joey Swoll Says Influencers ‘Need to Stop Nonsense’ at Gyms: “I’m Sorry, You Don’t Own the Place”
According to Swoll, influencers shouldn’t expect to record at gyms without interruptions as they are open to anyone with a membership.
“Influencers need to stop this nonsense acting as if they’re filming, they’re taking a video is more important than everyone else in the gym, that they need to stop what they’re doing just because you’re taking a video. I’m sorry you don’t own the place.
Your video is never a priority over anybody at the gym. Let me let you in on a secret, it’s a gym. People know it’s busy, if someone walks by it’s not going to matter. It’s not going to take away from your views or likes or anything about the video,” Joey Swoll shared.
Before wrapping up the video, Swoll advised the woman to either find a private gym or build one so she can record videos without foot traffic.
“If you want to go to a gym where nobody walks by, go to a private gym or build your own. Until then, you need to do better than that. Mind your business.”
This isn’t the first time Joey Swoll has gone after influencers recording at gyms. Last month, Swoll made an example out of a woman who filmed a video but set the camera up to watch the man in the adjacent machine more than herself. Swoll underlined that just because she wanted to record herself, doesn’t mean she has the right to record other people without their consent.
These unfortunate situations are all too common nowadays. In May, Joey put a Chelsea soccer player on blast after he made fun of a man whose pants fell down during a strenuous workout. While some fans may have found the events humorous, Swoll was disgusted by the athlete’s behavior and said he did a poor job of representing his team.

Swoll also went after someone online for recording inappropriately at the gym. A female TikToker mocked a gym-goer’s loud grunts during a training session. Given that gyms are supposed to be welcoming for all types of people, Swoll said it was best for the TikToker to just mind their business, much like the advice he offered to his latest subject in today’s Instagram video.

Joey Swoll Calls Out Woman Hogging Machines for Supersets: “I’m Sorry You Don’t Own The Gym”
Fitness personality Joey Swoll is gaining momentum on his mission to make gyms more welcoming environments. In a recent Instagram video, Swoll called out a woman who shamed a man for trying to use one of the many machines she was hogging at the gym.
“Here’s an idea, how about instead of taking a video to make fun of this man and call him a clown to make yourself out to be a victim which you’re not, you handle it like an adult,” shared Joey Swoll.
Gym etiquette has become Swoll’s life mission as of late. Over the years, he and many others have observed bullying, harassment, and even violence at local gyms and fitness centers. He coined this problem “toxic gym culture,” and has taken to various TikTok and Instagram videos to spread his message.
In his latest endeavor, Swoll condemned the actions of a female influencer who occupied multiple machines for supersets instead of sharing the equipment in a courteous manner. In the video, a man decides to ‘work in’ and completes a set of back extensions. However, the female believes he not only crashed her video but violated her personal space a handful of times.
Joey Swoll Torches Woman for Bashing Gym-Goer & Hogging Machines: ‘You Make Yourself Out to Be the Victim, Which You’re Not’
Here is the woman’s caption for reference:
“I was using the hyperextension machine and doing sets back and forth & no lie this man was 4 inches from my ass each time I tried to finish my sets bc of how I set up My Little space to film & he so rudely went in my frame. Like sir… you clearly saw me doing something,” the influencer shared.
Swoll believes the man who used the back extension machine did nothing wrong. He added that supersetting with three or four different exercises at the gym is poor etiquette.
“So let me get this straight you’re upset with that man you call him a clown, you say that he’s rude all because he sees the back extension is open while you’re off doing 2-3 different exercises supersetting setting up your camera and he decides to use it… and because he’s in your space while you’re filming as if your video is more important than another member’s workout, it’s not.
I’m sorry, you don’t own the gym. Not to mention it’s not good gym etiquette to do three or four different exercises supersetting and hog a machine,” Swoll said. “Not everything needs to be filmed and posted on social media. The gym is a shared space there’s going to be conflict, sort it out. You need to do better mind your business,” Joey Swoll said via Instagram.
Given the sheer number of conflicts Joey has encountered during his movement, it’s evident there is still a lot of work to be done. However, his efforts got the attention of bodybuilding legend and former seven-time Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger. Back in Feb., ‘The Austrian Oak’ praised Swoll for his continued work in making gyms and exercise locations more welcoming for everyone.
Toxic gym culture affects bodybuilders as well. Last September, Charly Young, an NPC athlete, faced verbal abuse from a man who shouted at him for just taking off his shirt and posing in the gym. Swoll commended Young for his calmness and criticized the man’s angry tirade.

This isn’t the first time Joey Swoll has taken aim at filming inside gyms. Last week, the influencer made an example out of a woman for filming a workout without any respect for those around her. Following his latest effort, hopefully, in time, gyms continue to become more accepting places for people of all fitness levels.

Joey Swoll on Filming at Gyms: ‘Just Because You’re Comfortable Doesn’t Mean Other People Are’
Gym etiquette is one of Joey Swoll’s top priorities, especially with the rise of social media platforms. In a recent TikTok video, Swoll called out a female user for recording a man without consent in between sets during a workout.
Swoll has become a prominent fitness influencer by standing up for those who are forced to deal with “toxic gym culture.” This term refers to various forms of harassment, intimidation, and judgment that some people encounter at the gym.
One example of this behavior was captured by the TikTok account “xitlahly” in a viral video. The clip showed a man resting between his sets on a machine. A woman approached the adjacent machine and began to use it while recording. The man glanced at her briefly and then shook his head in disapproval before continuing his training session.
Whether it’s disrespect or someone refusing to share gym equipment, Swoll hopes to make gyms more inviting environments for everyone. His movement has spread and even reached bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger, who praised him for his positive efforts in fitness.
“I Understand Why This Man Is So Frustrated,” Joey Swoll Reacts to Female TikToker Recording in Gym
While fitness centers are for the public, Joey Swoll believes everyone deserves the right to feel comfortable when they train. Sometimes, that means not being recorded in the gym without consent.
“This is why so many want filming banned in gyms. If you can’t film with respect for others, you shouldn’t film at all.”
“I understand why this man is so frustrated and shaking his head. Your camera is pointed directly at him where you’re filming more of him than you are of yourself in your video. That would upset anybody. Not to mention, with all of these cameras and tripods popping up in gyms all over the place, people are getting frustrated because they just want to go to the gym to work out,” Joey Swoll said.
“You have to understand, just because you feel comfortable to film yourself at the gym doesn’t mean other people feel the same and this keeps a lot of people from going to the gym. Your wanting to film never takes priority over someone feeling comfortable enough to go work out in the gym and better themselves and a lot of people on your page told you this.”
In Swoll’s opinion, filming in the gym should be done responsibly and with respect to others.
“If you’re going to film, you have to film responsibly and with respect to other people. If you can’t do that, don’t film at all. You need to do better. Mind your own business.”
This isn’t the first time Swoll has come to the defense of a gym-goer on TikTok. Earlier this year, he took a shot at a Female user who called a man ‘fuc**ng feral’ for looking at her inside the gym. Swoll, taken aback by her actions, made an example out of her by underlining the difference between glancing and staring.
Even bodybuilders have become subject to toxic gym culture. NPC athlete Charly Young made light of his concerning situation last Sept. when a man cursed at him repeatedly for simply posing with his shirt off inside the gym. Swoll praised Young for his maturity and condemned the aggressive man’s behavior.

Joey Swoll Blasts Soccer Player Mocking Gym Goer with Buttcrack Out: ‘What the Fuc* Is Wrong with You?’
Joey Swoll is back to make an example out of another rude gym-goer. In a recent Instagram post, Swoll fired shots at Chelsea soccer player Mykhailo Mudryk for mocking a man whose pants fell down during a workout at the gym.
“The fact that you don’t know better or want to set a better example as a professional athlete, really? You need to do better, mind your own business,” said Joey Swoll.
Fitness influencer Joey Swoll routinely stands up for gym-goers who refuse to speak up for themselves, whether in person or on social media. As of late, Swoll took issue with the budding soccer star after the man disparaged an older gym-goer completing reps on the rowing machine under the guidance of a trainer.
Mudryk, a 22-year-old winger, has yet to prove himself for Chelsea. Thus far, he hasn’t scored any goals but has notched two assists in a total of 14 games. And while the soccer player often shares his training sessions on social media, he decided to instead make fun of a man simply trying to better himself.
In the Instagram post, the gym-goer’s buttcrack is blurred by a huge stop sign emoji with a question mark overlayed in the video. Suffice it to say, Swoll didn’t take kindly to the Mudryk’s antics.
Joey Swoll Blasts Soccer Player for Poor Gym Etiquette: “Either Help Him or Mind Your Business”
Joey Swoll was shocked by Mudryk’s behavior and condemned his actions considering the 22-year-old represents a soccer team.
“So you see that man at the gym working hard trying to better himself with a trainer, he’s in an embarrassing situation where yes, he is a little exposed and you decide, hey let me take a video of it to post on social media to make fun of him all for attention, really?” Joey Swoll asks.
“Pardon my language, but what the fuc* is wrong with you?
And you’re a professional soccer player, you play for Chelsea in the Premier League, is this how you want to represent yourself and your team?” Swoll shared. “Either help him or mind your own business but put your damn phone away.”
This is far from the first time in which Joey Swoll went after someone for recording inappropriately at the gym. Swoll called out a female TikToker a few months ago who had been laughing at gym-goers for grunting loudly during training sessions.
In a separate incident, Swoll fired shots at influencer Nikki Fitness for mocking a man performing drag curls at his local gym. Soon after her post went viral for all of the wrong reasons, Joey Swoll chimed in and explained the utility of drag curls, which are especially useful for those suffering from injuries. Nikki Fitness later apologized for her actions.

Joey Swoll Defends Man Being Confronted For Performing Handstands In The Gym
Joey Swoll continues to speak out against toxic gym culture that can hurt others.
Joey Swoll has been on a mission to speak out and defend those who are being impacted by toxic gym culture. This can be women who are being leered at while working out or men having comments thrown at them depending on how much weight they can lift. In a recent video, Swoll defends a man who is practicing his handstands during his time at the gym.
In the video, the gym-goer is seen, via TikTok, performing a handstand on the turf area of the gym. A man walks by and makes comments about how he should be doing this at home and not in the gym.
“Sometimes people are just miserable, and they want to ruin someone else’s day.” Joey Swoll said.
This is a perfect example of what Swoll has discussed in the past. The video has gone viral and is nearing two million likes.
Joey Swoll Speaks On Rude Comments By Gym-Goer
Joey Swoll begins his videos by showing the original incident before sliding in and giving his opinion. This time, he saw nothing wrong with what the man was doing by performing handstands.
“He did nothing wrong. To not let it absorb him and to not let it affect his love or passion for the gym or his contest. I’ll tell you what’s pretty cool, to see so many people like and comment on that video, supporting him shows that gym culture is changing and you all are the reason why. Thank you. Keep doing it.”
The man in the video was seen minding his own business while working out and this is the point that Swoll has made many times. There are incidents where it is not necessary to comment or make someone feel bad for nothing.
“You know, this is really sad to see, not just at the gym, but everywhere. For someone to treat someone or speak to someone like this, completely uncalled for. I immediately reached out to Alex, the young man in the video, and I just let him know: hurt people, hurt people.”
Joey Swoll took the time to reach out to this TikTok user following his video. Gyms are public spaces and many interactions like this can happen when people do not mind their own business and involve themselves with others. Swoll has been a voice of reason recently sharing videos to explain what should be happening in a public space, such as the gym.

Joey Swoll Reacts To TikToker “Berating” Man For Leaving Squat Rack: ‘He Didn’t Deserve the Way You Spoke To Him’
Joey Swoll defends a gym goer who was being berated for leaving a squat rack for a few minutes.
Joey Swoll continues to use his platform to attempt to spread the word about toxic gym culture around the country. He has been reacting to different videos on TikTok and did it once again defending a man who was being talked down to by a female TikToker.
In the video, you can hear the words coming from the woman filming. She is upset that the man left his stuff near the squat rack while he went to do something else. It is unknown what the man was doing but he could have been supersetting with another workout. He apologizes for the encounter but the woman continues to speak aggressively toward him.
During the interaction, the man offers to have them work in but the woman and her friend claim they only have an hour to workout. She continued to tell the man how he should be acting in the gym.
Joey Swoll Defends Man On The Squat Rack
Joey Swoll has been defending people who are wrongly accused of toxic gym culture and this is another example. He first explains that people need to be conscience of others and not stay on a machine too long.
“Be wary of those around you. Don’t take forever on a machine. Let people work in, whatever the case may be, don’t step away for long periods of time like this man did.”
Swoll then dives into this particular situation and explains that the man could have been supersetting before coming back to the squat rack.
“However, that doesn’t mean that he has to come back from supersetting or whatever he was doing to somebody with a camera in his face recording him and then threatening him that you’re going to post it online.
He immediately apologized to you and asked if you wanted to work in. He stayed calm the whole time. He didn’t deserve the way you spoke to him, you berated him, you swore at him and told him how to act.”
Joey Swoll continues to discuss how the woman even went to management and inquired about the man’s membership being revoked.
“Really? You think he deserves that? Guys, the gym is a shared space. You’re going to be around people that you sometimes don’t agree with and not everyone is going to follow gym etiquette to a T. We’re human beings. We make mistakes and that’s okay.”
The bottom line is that this situation could have went in a different direction if the woman approached the man in a different fashion and that is what Swoll is trying to get across when it comes to encounters in the gym.
“Situations like this can always be resolved if you stay calm, you’re kind, respectful, and simply have a conversation.”

Joey Swoll Defends Gym Worker Who Is Called A Pervert By Female TikToker
Joey Swoll continues to speak on toxic gym culture and defended a worker in his latest video.
A trend has emerged of gyms becoming a place that could have a toxic culture, especially toward females. This is something that Joey Swoll has spoken out against using TikTok. There are many videos shared of this on the platform. In a recent video, Swoll defended a gym worker who was accused by a female of being a pervert for staring.
The interaction got heated when the female thought that the worker was staring. She asked the worker multiple times “do you need something?” The worker eventually threatened to call the police and have her removed from the gym.
The video was deleted from her account but still blew up on social media. This is when Joey Swoll stepped in and decided to make a video on the incident.

Joey Swoll Spoke To Gym Worker
Joey Swoll has made it a point to speak for others who may not have the platform that he does. In this case, he defends the worker for making a quick glance at the female.
“Just because somebody glances at you briefly when you’re taking your pump cover off doesn’t give you the right to post a video on social media labeling them as a pervert. This has consequences. This can have a serious effect on someone’s livelihood, their reputation, their family. It’s not something to take lightly.”
Joey Swoll continued to explain how he spoke to the worker following the incident and believes that he was not in the wrong.
“I had the privilege of having a conversation with this young man last night. He’s a good kid, a kind-hearted young kid and he told me more about what happened.”
“First off, he’s not a trainer. He wasn’t training that man. He’s an overnight gym attendant managing operations of the gym. This is about one in the morning and if somebody gets out of line or acts like this, he absolutely has the power to call the police or ask you to leave. So, he was not wrong in doing so. Also, he never said ‘oh damn’. If you watch the video closely, he briefly glanced at you when his friend looks.”
Swoll acknowledged that there are instances where men have harassed women in the gym but this was not one of those cases.
“He’s the father of two beautiful young girls, working overnight to help support them and you tried to take that away from him. You need to do better than that and mind your own business.”
