Jujimufu and Joey Szatmary Take On The Insane Bazooka Deadlift, Try to Break World Record
Jujimufu and Joey Szatmary tackle the unorthodox bazooka deadlift movement.
Popular strength athletes and fitness influencers Jujimufu and Joey Szatmary recently tried their hand at the crazy bazooka deadlift. Looking very similar to what old time strongman competitors used to perform, the bazooka deadlift has to be one of the more inventive and difficult lifts to perform.
The bazooka deadlift is quite a peculiar movement. It’s definitely a creative lift, but is incredibly dangerous. It’s unlike the average deadlift most lifters have come to know. Rather than it be a simple hip hinge motion, the bazooka deadlift requires far more from the user.
And Jujimufu is crazy enough to try out the movement himself.
The popular weightlifter, bodybuilder, and powerlifter recently was in search of a new challenge. Jujimufu has found his next challenge with the bazooka deadlift. The lift is unlike anything we’ve seen in powerlifting, bodybuilding or strongman. Which means it was a perfect fit for Jujimufu.
It’s a truly peculiar lift that is gaining a ton of popularity in online spaces. Fascinated by the unorthodox movement, Jujimufu and his friend Joey Szatmary decided to give it a try.
The movement requires some dexterity and some pretty insane strength. Standing with a loaded barbell between the legs, you must pull the barbell up and through the space between your legs then up and over your shoulder. The end result should have the user appearing as if they’re firing a bazooka, hence the name.
Since it’s a pretty hard movement to explain, seeing it for yourself is perhaps best.
First time trying BAZOOKA LIFT. 225 lbs ✔️ ? 290 lb WR attempt ❌️ ?

What do you think about Jujimufu, Joey Szatmary, and their bazooka deadlift journey?

Jujimufu Crushes A New PR With A 700-Pound Squat
Jon Call, known as Jujimufu, is known for his feats of strength and recently set a new squat PR.
Jon Call, or Jujimufu, has built a massive following on social media for his feats of strength that can compete with many around the world. His strength and flexibility allow him to pull off some impressive lifts and he recently set a new PR. Jujimufu completed a 700-pound squat in a recent training session to set a new mark.
Call loaded up the barbell in his home gym and stepped up with a lifting belt and knee wraps to assist. He shared the lift on his Instagram page for his 1.6 million followers.
“700 lb (318 kg) SQUAT PR! Sam surprised me with a bonus camera angle she filmed without telling me. ?”
The depth that Jujimufu shows on this squat is incredible. This is what has made him be able to add weight to his lifts and perform some inhumane movements. The 700-pound club is a coveted group for powerlifters. Call did not reveal his body weight but all you have to do is take one look at his physique to see that he is in top physical shape.
Jujimufu took the world by storm five years ago when he appeared on America’s Got Talent. Here, he performed a barbell shoulder press while going a split with both feet spread out on two chairs. This was an insane lift that showed his flexibility, core strength, and balance. Since then, Jujimufu has continued to rise as a fitness star.
Call began training in martial arts and strength training at an early age. He has teamed up with many strongmen for workouts and has built a huge social media following. During his career, he has even taken part in three sanctioned powerlifting competitions.
Jujimufu set PRs during the 2020 and 2021 WRPF Hybrid Showdown competitions. During the 2020 Showdown 11, Jujimufu completed a 666.9-pound deadlift and 1,736.1-pound total. The very next year, he took down a 672.4-pound squat and 418.9-pound bench press. He even tried his hand at bodybuilding in 2021 during the NPC Worldwide Amateur Olympia Orlando, where he finished fifth in the super heavyweight division.
There is no doubt that Jujimufu is multi-talented. He is extremely strong in many ways and continues to show it on social media. It is still early in the year and Call could have some other plans for 2022. It will be exciting to see what the powerlifter takes on next.

Jujimufu: Eddie Hall & Thor Bjornsson Boxing Is The “Best Thing For Their Personal Lives”
[embedded content]
Jujimufu believes Eddie Hall and Thor Bjornsson were smart to transform their physiques for boxing.
What started out as beef turned into a boxing match. That boxing match transformed the physiques and lives of two legendary Strongmen. Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson, after trading some heated words related to Strongman, were set to face each other in a boxing match for a special event. Hall ended up suffering a bicep injury putting off the event (for now) but both athletes remained focused on their boxing training. Thor even set up different matches to get some competition experience under his belt.
Now both athletes have become incredibly lean and shredded – a far cry from their original Strongman size and shape. Both have been astounding fitness transformations – and Jujimufu believes it was the smartest thing they could have done for their health and longevity. In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Jujimufu explains why now was the right time for both Eddie Hall and Thor Bjornsson to transition into boxing.
The idea of two Strongmen becoming boxers sounds a bit absurd on the surface. While these athletes are heavy lifters – that does not require nearly any of the required training and skill needed for the boxing ring. What could have been a stunt turned into an impressive life change for both Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson. Now over a year later, this seems like no stunt and rather a possible new future for both athletes.
Jujimufu is an athlete who is more than familiar with transitioning into a new fitness endeavor. Jujimufu started out with a life in calisthenics, stunts, and gymnastics and this past year transition into competitive bodybuilding to see where that leads. He just recently made his debut at the Olympia Amateur 2021. That’s why we asked him for his thoughts on Eddie Hall and Thor Bjornsson’s transition into boxing.
Jujimufu had nothing but positive things to say about the transition. In fact, he thinks that now was the perfect time for these two strongmen to make a change. They had already solidified their names as legends in Strongman. Moving to something new not only can lead to new opportunities but can also be a smart move for their personal health and future.
While strength is important in boxing, it’s also a very aerobic sport. Requiring endurance and bursts of speed. By not only focusing on strength and size, both Eddie Hall and Thor Bjornsson have made some incredible transformations to their physique. Thor in particular has dropped over 100 pounds.
“I think it was the best thing that both of them could have done for their personal lives,” Jujimufu stated in his interview. He continued:
“Because Thor just broke the deadlift record. Eddie Hall had the deadlift record for a while. They are both legendary strongmen in their own rights. But staying 450 pounds is not the smartest thing for their health in the long term… It’s genius. Let’s do a boxing match so it gives him a reason to lean down and get his health in a different state where he has more longevity. Thor looks amazing. He’s shredded.”
On top of the health benefit, their decision to do a boxing match has garnered a lot of attention. Will these two Strongmen become pro boxers? That might not be the case – but the matches Thor has done brought in numbers and certainly when he faces Hall it will be a blockbuster. This was a good business move and inspired them both to change their lifestyles possibly for the better.

Joe Rogan Shocked By Jujimufu’s “World’s Strongest Smelling Salts”
Joe Rogan gets the shock of his life trying out Jujimufu’s smelling salts.
Comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan recently took the challenge of trying out smelling salts. But Rogan didn’t just try out any smelling salts brand. The podcaster tried out Jujimufu’s brand of smelling salts and the experience gave him the shock of his life.
Smelling Salts. They’re a staple of powerlifting, a useful tool that help powerlifters heft a great deal of weight. It provides the extra kick necessary for a lifter to psyche themselves up before lifting an absurd amount of weight.
Unlike performance enhancers, smelling salts don’t add a specific physical edge for a lifter. Whatever strength they’ve attained during training will determine how much weight they’re able to heft in a session or a meet. But what smelling salts do provide is an extra kick that allows for more intense focus.
Not all smelling salts are created equal of course. There are many different brands to choose from. One such brand of smelling salts is created and designed by veteran powerlifter turned bodybuilder Jujimufu.
Enter Jujimufu
Known for his incredible agility and lifting abilities, Jujimufu is well versed in weight training. With tons of lifting experience under his belt you can bet that Jujimufu knows a thing or two about smelling salts. The powerlifter is so confident in his knowledge in fact that he’s created his own brand of smelling salts. One type is called “Awesome Smelling Salts”, another is called “AHHH!!! World’s Strongest Smelling Salts” the latter of which caught the attention of a well known podcaster.
Powerful Smelling Salts
In a recent episode of his podcast Joe Rogan recently tried out Jujimufu’s “AHHH!!! World’s Strongest Smelling Salts” along with his friend and fellow comedian Theo Von. What happened next was nothing short of eye opening.
Our first experience with smelling salts. The great and powerful @theovon and I took a whiff of @jujimufu’s good stuff. Shoutout to my friend @worlds_strongest_gay for the introduction to these fine olfactory stimulators. Holy shit was that intense. Full podcast available now on @spotify.
It was a real pleasure to get to hang with Theo again!
It’s clear that Jujimufu is working with some pretty powerful stuff. Joe Rogan and Theo Von were nearly floored by the smelling salts. If it’s really that potent, Jujimufu’s smelling salts could be a game changer in the weightlifting game.
Will you be trying Jujimufu’s smelling salts brand?

INTERVIEW: Will Jujimufu Continue Competitive Bodybuilding?
[embedded content]
Jujimufu talks about his competitive bodybuilding journey and if it will become his focus moving forward.
Jujimufu is known for his incredible stunts and acrobatics alongside an impressive muscular physique. He had dedicated his life to gymnastics and acrobatics – but has slowly built a bodybuilding fanbase because of his physique and personality on display in viral videos. This past year he decided to make a change and seriously focus on bodybuilding competitively. His first show was at this past week’s Olympia Amateur show. In our GI Exclusive interview, we talked to Jujimufu about his competitive bodybuilding prep and what he expects to do moving forward.
This past week, Jujimufu competed in the Olympia Amateur 2021 competition. He ultimately placed fifth in the super heavyweight division. We had a chance to connect via video call just before his competition to talk about his contest prep, why he decided to start competing, and what his future holds. Jujimufu is dedicated to his passion for stunts and acrobatics – but that might need to be sidelined somewhat if he maintains a competitive Men’s Open bodybuilding physique. Is it the kind of sacrifice he’s willing to make in the long term?
Jujimufu is unsure. He knows he will always allow himself to do some form of acrobatics. He mentions that his flips and splits can be done no matter how large he becomes. Though he also admits that other more complicated maneuvers might not be doable as his legs grow in size specifically. That being said – he also understands that his prime gymnastic years are behind him. Whereas bodybuilding and strength building blooms in later years through into a person’s 40s.
So will he continue to compete in bodybuilding? Will he go pro and stand amongst the greats on major stages such as the Olympia? Jujimufu states that it all comes down to his experience at the Olympia Amateur. His placing won’t determine his future – but rather his experience. If it was an enjoyable experience that promises realistic success and growth down the line – he’s 100% open to focusing on bodybuilding. He’s excited by the possibility of just starting his growth in this arena – whereas his acrobatic life is in the early stages of being past his prime.
That’s just a simple fact about gymnastics – it’s a young man’s game. Bodybuilding favors time, experience and muscle maturity. He’s excited by that notion and if he feels empowered by his Olympia Amateur show – he’ll continue.
We’d imagine Jujimufu’s fifth place finish was ultimately promising – he was up against dozens of competitors all hungry for a pro card. Jujimufu also comments about how lucky he feels to have so much attention put on his physique only being in an amateur show. He feels like he was able to skip the line in terms of attention. He’s simply grateful to have that kind of attention and opportunity.

INTERVIEW: The Surprising Reality & Prep Behind Jujimufu’s Viral Stunt Videos
[embedded content]
Jujimufu discusses the origins of his viral videos and the long hours of prep that goes behind each one.
Bodybuilder and fitness athlete Jon Call might be better known in the bodybuilding world by his nickname – Jujimufu. He’s a massive a jacked bodybuilder best known for his viral videos that often involve impressive flexibility and timing. More recently, he has dedicated himself to competitive bodybuilding – bringing him even more media attention as his physique improves. Now that he’s competing, how do his viral stunts play into his prep and does he fear setting himself back due to injury? In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Jujimufu explains in detail his viral stunt origins, the work it takes to pull them off, and more!
Jujimufu is a rare kind of bodybuilder. He displays incredible acts of flexibility and motion. Not only that – but he also has a funny personality that he puts on full display. He brings more absurdism and fun into the bodybuilding world. It’s refreshing – so it’s no wonder why he’s amassed such a following over the years. Jujimufu was originally a viral bodybuilder who didn’t compete – but as of last year he has decided to put his hat into the ring. He’s been prepping for bodybuilding competitions and his already massive following is excited to see his new and improved physique.
During our conversation with Jujimufu, he explained to us that competition isn’t his end goal. He simply wants to give it a shot due to his love and passion for massive physiques. Ultimately, he is passionate about many forms of fitness including martial arts and gymnastic-type flips and tricks. So being a competitive bodybuilder isn’t the end goal – he’ll always want to dedicate himself toward the viral stunt videos he’s so well known for.
Speaking of his viral videos, we dug in deep exploring everything that goes on behind the short but popular stunt videos. Jujimufu explains the origins behind his viral status. Since a very young age he was in love with fitness. He has been training in martial arts since he was a teenager and transitioned that into gymnastic stunts such as the splits and flips we see today.
After succeeding as a functional athlete, he felt the desire to build more muscle and size. This began his journey towards a more bodybuilding lifestyle. Fast forward to today and Jujimufu caught eyes for having the physique of a bodybuilder but the nimble movements of a gymnast. It’s a combination you rarely ever see – and it helped him become an internet icon.
While his videos are usually short clips – Jujimufu reveals that there is a massive amount of prep work that goes behind each stunt. He often starts small – with a germ of an idea that he practices to see if it’s possible. As he practices, the idea becomes bigger and bigger. Eventually, it becomes a sort of short form stunt spectacular. It’s at this stage that he has to begin prepping the actual plan for the official video.
The prep for shooting the stunt might be a surprise to many. These aren’t videos he just records on the fly. He spends hours, even sometimes days, preparing for the shoot. He has to make sure the stunt is as safe as possible and also work to get all of the tools he needs to pull it off. This includes getting a small crew together to film – and often a collaborator athlete to bring even more fun and exposure to the clip.
All in all, Jujimufu explains that a one minute stunt video might take hours of prep before it’s done. If you include his earlier practice work – it’s actually a total of days of prep. In a sense, this explains the difference between someone like Jujimufu and the copy cats who just try a stunt on the fly. That’s where the unnecessary injuries happen that cause more conservative folks to worry about the growing trend of viral stunt videos.
Jujimufu is an athlete and doesn’t want to get hurt. So he makes sure to take his videos seriously like they were a job. That means prep time and lots of it. You can watch him explain his entire process in detail by watching our latest GI Exclusive interview segment above!
Jujimufu Reveals Physique 80 Days Out, Does 330Lb Strict Curl With Michael Todd
Jujimufu and Michael Todd join forces to take on a 330lb strict curl.
Fitness and bodybuilding personality Jujimufu and world champion arm wrestler Michael Todd teamed up recently for some interesting training. The two performed a 330lb strict curl. The best part? No one got injured in the process.
It’s fair to say that bodybuilder and gymnast Jon “Jujimufu” Call is a bit of an eccentric. While many fitness personalities are engaged solely in training in their particular strength sport, Jujimufu always likes to color outside the lines. It’s one of the reasons that he has grown in popularity over the last few years.
A bodybuilder who can pull off incredible feats of agility. It’s not something you see everyday. As such Jujimufu has cornered the market on acrobatic bodybuilders.
With that said, Jujimufu is a legit strength athlete. He has built a powerful physique through countless hours of hard training in the gym. He has gone from powerlifting to pursuing a bodybuilding career. As such, Jujimufu has been putting in the necessary work to build an aesthetic and quality physique. A recent post shows just how far along he is.
But besides prepping for bodybuilding shows, Jujimufu has also been enjoying new and different ways of strength training. With the explosion of strict curl training and competition, it appears that everyone’s favorite acrobatic strength athlete has decided to add the lift to his training.
The Strict Curl Duo
Recently Jujimufu tried out a 330lb strict curl. But the bodybuilding personality didn’t do it alone. Partnering up with arm wrestling champion Michael Todd, both men hefted the 330lb barbell and curled it.
Luckily no one was injured in the attempt. Both Jujimufu and Michael Todd showed some impressive strength. While it may not be a lift for the record books, it was a fun one to watch.
