Lee Priest Not Planning On Returning To Masters Olympia: ‘I Never Rule It Out But At The Moment, No’
Lee Priest addressed recent rumors on a return to the stage during Masters Olympia.
Lee Priest built a physique over the course of his career that turned heads immediately. Recently, he has been building his physique back up and this has sparked rumors of a comeback to the stage. Priest shut down any rumors of a return to Masters Olympia anytime soon during an interview.
Priest enjoyed a career on stage that spanned into three decades. He has had the chance to compete against legendary bodybuilders like Flex Wheeler, Shawn Ray, and Chris Cormier. Before calling it a career in 2013, Priest won the NABBA Mr. Universe competition.
Priest made headlines early on for his incredible conditioning, including some of the best biceps in bodybuilding. Now, he has been able to rebuild his physique into what looks like championship shape.

Lee Priest On Masters Olympia: ‘If They Made It 50 And Over, Sure’
To this point, there are no plans for Lee Priest to make a return to the stage. The Masters Olympia is making a comeback but it is unknown what the guidelines will be. According to Priest, there should be an age limit.
“No. Not really. Lee Priest explained. Yeah, but I still have the chest. I never rule it out but at the moment, no. Well, if they made it 50 and over sure, but that’s not at the tune they are talking about.
For some people, because some of the pros now are older, some of them are at the age where they can do the Masters and then still compete in the Mr. Olympia. So, there has to be. They are talking about maybe 50 and over, and maybe you haven’t competed in maybe the past four or five years.”

Lee Priest continues to explain how may competitors in Pro shows are ages 40-45. If this is the case, it would not make sense for them to compete in Masters Olympia right after placing high in a professional show.
“I don’t know, just being over 45 maybe. Which a lot of guys here in the Olympia and other pro shows are over 45. So, yeah. At least 50 and over and haven’t competed for maybe a certain number of years. Say you did the Mr. Olympia last year and placed fifth or second, but you’re old enough to do the Masters. Then, what’s the point?”
Lee Priest has not completely decided on his plans but it sounds like he has his mind made up in the short term. If Masters Olympia sets an age limit, it would be interesting to see if Priest would make a return to the stage. If he does, then he would be a difficult competitor to top.

Jay Cutler Reflects On Lee Priest At 21 Years Old: ‘I Remember Looking At Him And Saying How Is That Even Possible?’
Jay Cutler believes that no one “could ever blow your mind” like Lee Priest when he burst onto the scene.
Jay Cutler built a resume that has him up there with the best bodybuilders of all-time. He has seen it all in the sport but there is one physique that stood out from the pack. Cutler took some time to discuss how Lee Priest burst onto the scene at 21 years old.
Cutler was one of the true mass monsters during his time and he was able to win the Olympia four times. he displayed great symmetry and conditioning on stage to top plenty of competition. When Cutler gives credit to a young up-and-comer, they must have something special.
That is exactly what Cutler believed that Priest had. He won many competitions, highlighted by a victory at the 2013 NABBA Mr. Universe. Priest enjoyed a successful career that spanned close to three decades.
Jay Cutler On Lee Priest: “Nobody Can Ever Blow Your Mind Mind Lee Priest Looked”
Jay Cutler spoke with Flex Lewis on his Straight Outta The Lair podcast. This is where the two legends broke down some different topics in bodybuilding. When discussing Lee Priest, Cutler brought up the great Ronnie Coleman.

“Lee Priest was just coming on the scene at that time. I know you guys kind of had this little rivalry because who’s better… dude he was unbelievable. No lie. I’ve seen Ronnie Coleman, I’ve obviously competed with him. Nobody can ever blow your mind like Lee Priest looked when he was 21 years old.”
Cutler remembers seeing Priest walk into the gym and marveled at the pure size that he carried around.
“I walked in the gym and I remember looking at him and saying, ‘how is that even possible?’ He could barely walk his legs were so big. I think he downsized as his career went on but he was massive.”
Lee Priest did not win a Sandow Trophy but he did appear on stage during the biggest show of the year multiple times. Priest remained a competitor because of his eye-popping physique.
Jay Cutler continued to discuss how Priest could look the way he did at 260 pounds. He kept incredible conditioning for the weight that he carried around and was shredded on stage.
“260 pounds but he wasn’t fat. You know he’s shorter, but he was unbelievable. I remember Ed Raven, ‘you gotta see this kid’. I’m thinking gosh this guy is a year older than me, how is this possible.”
Lee Priest was recently inducted into the Muscle Beach Hall of Fame because of his work on stage. He gained a massive following because of his physique and it not surprising that many competitors marveled at what he was able to build.

Lee Priest on IFBB Pro League Ban
Lee Priest received a one-yer ban from the IFBB Pro League after competing in a bodybuilding show for Wayne DeMilia. After more developments, it ended up being a lifetime ban. Since this decision was made, the league has been restricted. Because of this, Priest does not believe that he is banned.
“Well, Bob Chicarello, the athletes rep, says I’m not, that was all made up. But if we go technically, yes I was but now, of course, the IFBB and them have gone different ways. The new organization I’m technically not suspended from.”
“I had no choice, after Wayne’s show, they suspended me for one year. They said, ‘oh, we see you going to England, don’t go and we will only make it for one year’. I said I have to go, and sell tickets, I’m on the poster. I said just make it a two-year suspension and they said okay.”
Just because he might not be suspended, does not mean that Priest is going to return to do a show. However, it is still possible given the physique that he has built recently. For Priest to do so, there might have to be some amends made with the league.
Lee Priest on Facing Flex Wheeler and the 2003 Olympia
Lee Priest began bodybuilding in the 1980s and enjoyed a career that spanned over 20 years. Priest was extremely active early on and built a championship physique. He was able to secure victories in many shows, such as the 2006 Iron Man Pro and 2013 NABBA Mr. Universe competition.
In 1997, Priest competed against Wheeler at the Iron Man and shared a story about the experience.
“The ’97 Iron Man was funny when I got second to Flex because Shawn was helping Flex backstage. So, Shawn comes over and says ‘you’re looking great Lee, it’s going to be close between you and my boy Flex.’”
“Flex heard him say it and walks over and goes, ‘yeah I’ll give you credit, you’re looking good, but you’re not going to beat me because of who I am.”
The interview continued on with Lee Priest discussing the 2003 Olympia, where he finished 15th. This was not a competition that he wanted to appear in but ended up on stage.
“Back in 2003, I didn’t want to do the Olympia. If you’re not 100%, okay I’m going to do it, I dieted for a week. McDonald’s for a week. Diet for a week, McDonald’s. So, I put online, I tell my fans, I think it was don’t get big at the time, that was the site. I’m sorry, look, I’m just not in it. I’ll be at the expo. I got abused,” Priest said.
