Mateusz Kieliszkowski Withdraws From 2023 Shaw Classic; Gavin Bilton Makes His Debut

The 2023 Shaw Classic will take place on August 19-20, and will mark the end of Brian Shaw’s professional career. So, it is set to be the most special and emotional competition of the season, which is why Brian is making sure everything is perfect. Also, Brian made sure to choose a perfect 16-man lineup. However, one of his original choices will not be able to attend, as the Polish prodigy, Mateusz Kieliszkowski has withdrawn from the competition.
Brian Shaw initially named 15 athletes for the 2023 Shaw Classic and waited for official confirmation from Mateusz Kieliszkowski who was the 16th man. Unfortunately, despite initially confirming his presence two months ago, Mateusz has now revealed that he won’t compete.
Mateusz Kieliszkowski injured his knee earlier this year and he thinks it will not heal by the time the 2023 Shaw Classic rolls around.
“Unfortunately Mateusz Kieliszkowski doesn’t feel that he will be back in fighting shape by August and has decided to withdraw. We wish him all the best in a full recovery,” stated the caption of Shaw Classic’s Instagram post.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski is still young but he has already made a name for himself, having started competing in 2014 at just 21 years old. From then, until 2021, Mateusz took part in 44 International and National competitions, claiming 15 victories in the process.
After suffering multiple injuries in 2021, Mateusz Kieliszkowski did not compete until the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic. His comeback to the sport was very successful, as Mateusz finished in second, only behind Mitchell Hooper. He then took part in the 2023 WSM, but did not qualify for the finals.
Mateusz Kieliszkowski’s Replacement
Coming in to replace Mateusz Kieliszkowski at the 2023 Shaw Classic is Gavin Bilton, also known as the Welsh Bull. Gavin has never competed in Brian Shaw’s competitions. So he will be making his debut in August.
Gavin Bilton is currently riding a success wave, having recently claimed his first International victory at the 2023 Strongman Champions League Serbia. In addition, he has two National titles to his name as well, having won the 2020 and 2021 UK’s Strongest Man competitions.
In total, Gavin Bilton has taken part in 23 International and National competitions and won three of them. Four appearances came at the World’s Strongest Man competition, but Gavin never made it into the final 10.

Brian Shaw recently revealed that the 2023 Shaw Classic will also feature arm wrestling matches, grip events, and more. However, the main attraction of the event is still the Strongman competition, and Gavin Bilton, the newest member of the lineup, will do his best to make it awesome. Mateusz Kieliszkowski will still be missed, but there is no doubt that he will continue competing at the highest level once he is recovered.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski Has Withdrawn From 2022 World’s Strongest Man

Mateusz Kieliszkowski Has Withdrawn From 2022 World’s Strongest Man

Mateusz Kieliszkowski was forced to miss the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic with a leg injury. Just one month after the competition, the strongman has announced that he will miss the 2022 World’s Strongest Man competition because of the same injury.
Kieliszkowski explains the reasoning for his withdrawal in an Instagram post. He is recovering from his leg injury and training with heavy weight is not the best way to heal. Kieliszkowski revealed that he will continue to train with light weights in hopes that he can rehab the injury correctly.

“Why i am withdrawn from @theworldsstrongestman ?
Still feel some pain and not comfortable in my leg after injury What i got before Arnold.Heavy training isnt good method to fix and recovery for body.
I have some power but not enough to compete at the highest level in the world. The best and the smartest solution for me is to withdraw from the competition.I dont want risk because dont need bigger injury than i got. Also, I don’t want to be beaten by everyone because that’s not my style – My goal is only 1st place.
I made many mistakes. I have to be smarter this time because I want my career to be longer.
Now I just need time to heal my body and be 100% healthy and hungry for Victory.
I will continue training but with very light weights. Also i will use stem cells to help heal and will work more with a physical therapist.Hope it Will bring good results.
No pressure or stress. Just need Time and be patient.
Success will come one day
greetings,” Mateusz Kieliszkowski wrote.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski continues to speak on his desire to win. He does not want to enter a competition just to show face when he is not 100%. Now, he will work to get back to the top so he can enter his next competition at full strength.
As of now, there is no replacement for Kieliszkowski at the 2022 World’s Strongest Man. The official Instagram page of the event said that there will be updates at a later date.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski began competing in 2014 at the age of 21. He has 10 victories, including five Poland’s Strongest Man titles. He has been apart of the World’s Strongest Man four times and finished second in 2019.
Kieliszkowski was one of the competitors who would have been a contender this time around but he is focused on his health moving forward. This means he will be even more motivated once he can fully heal from this leg injury.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski Will Miss The 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic

Mateusz Kieliszkowski Will Miss The 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic

Mateusz Kieliszkowski will miss the event with an injury.
The 2022 Arnold Strongman is right around the corner and one of the top competitors has just withdrew from the competition. Mateusz Kieliszkowski will not appear at the event after suffering a few setbacks. He is dealing with hip discomfort and suffered a urinary tract infection.
Julian Howard, a Strongman promoter, broke the news on his Instagram page. This is not the first time that Kieliszkowski has dealt with injuries that have halted his progress.

“@kieliszkowskimateusz will now not be competing at the Arnold Strongman Classic this weekend! He has damaged his hip and has a urinary tract infection which has hindered his training. He will be missed but we all wish him well and hope to see him back again soon????”

Mateusz Kieliszkowski was one of the favorites to finish on the podium in Columbus. During his career, the 28-year-old Strongman has dealt with plenty of setbacks such as this. In 2020, Kieliszkowski was forced to miss the World’s Strongest Man competition with a tricep injury. He was able to rehab the injury and return to the stage in 2021 but did not seem to reach his full potential.
Last year, Kieliszkowski finished second at the WUS Dubai and fourth at the 2021 Rogue Strongman Invitational. After more training and recovery, he was prepared to make an impact in 2022 but fans might have to wait a little longer to see what he can really do.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski would not have been 100% if he appeared at the Arnold Classic. In 2020, he finished second at this event. This came after runner-up finishes at the World’s Strongest Man shows in 2018 and 2019. He has made a name for himself over the course of his career and could return when healthy.
Kieliszkowski has been active on social media sharing some recent lifts that he has accomplished. Just last week, he completed a 125kg dumbbell press and did it with little effort. It seemed as though he was healthy but there are other areas that would have been impacted by his injuries.
The 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic is set to take place this weekend in Columbus, OH. Matuesz Kieliszkowski is a big loss for the competition but there are still plenty of elite competitors ready to take the stage at the event.
