Mike O’Hearn: The Foolproof Way To Stop Haters Online

Mike O’Hearn: The Foolproof Way To Stop Haters Online

[embedded content]
Mike O’Hearn details his tactics for not only avoiding hate online but also preventing it from affecting his mental state.
Bullying has always existed in the world. And it’s been a serious problem that can lead to painful mental health problems for victims. This has been exacerbated with the boom of online and social media. Instead of someone in your local community bullying you – it can be anyone from around the world. Not only that, it can be an army of voices. This can have serious consequences on your mental health. Public figures, such as celebrity bodybuilders, are beacons for attention. This also means being a beacon for bullying, hate, and vile comments. In our latest GI Exclusive, Mike O’Hearn shares his fool proof tips for stopping hate and how he avoids letting them get under his skin.

Mike O’Hearn is no stranger to hate online. Between the constant claims that he is lying about being natural and your general run of the mill online trolls – O’Hearn has had his fair share of hurtful comments lobbed at him. But you wouldn’t know that by speaking with him. Much like O’Hearn’s superhuman commitment to his training schedule for over 30 years, he rarely twitches when it comes to hate directed at him. What’s his secret?
During our recent conversation with Mike O’Hearn, we asked him his tactics with dealing with haters online. The information he shared is advice on two fronts – mental tactics for your own health and actionable tactics to prevent more hate in the future.
On the mental front, Mike O’Hearn urges anyone who faces online hate to realize that the people commenting are “below you.” What he means by that is – a bully is someone who feels the need to make petty comments at you. They are not someone you know. They are likely not someone you would respect. The mere fact that you, most likely, would not make such hateful comments online shows that you are in a better place than the hater. O’Hearn stresses that this must be remembered. People who are more powerful than you rarely would take the time to attack you in such a way.
That’s easier said than done of course. A barrage of hateful comments online can pierce even the strongest of minds. So it’s also important to not allow the hateful comments through. It’s sometimes frowned upon for public figures to police their comment sections. Blocking can be seen as a disingenuous gesture to hide the “truth” of their fanbase. Mike O’Hearn couldn’t disagree more.

O’Hearn opens up about how liberally he blocks people on his comment pages. Even for one slight offense – he and his team will block the user permanently. Why? Because it’s not the truth of his fanbase. Odds are they aren’t a fan at all. And why would he subject himself to reading such awful statements day in and day out? Mike O’Hearn believes that all people with any online presence should do the same. The cleaner you can keep your online pages – the happier you will be when interacting with your fans online.
At the end of the day, Mike O’Hearn makes it clear with a direct statement, “Trolls are complete losers.” That might not mean it’s easy to prevent them from getting under your skin. That’s why if you follow O’Hearn’s two tactics, you might create a new mindset in your relationship with not only your fans but yourself. Out of sight, out of mind.

Mike O’Hearn: How To Really Make Money In Bodybuilding

Mike O’Hearn: How To Really Make Money In Bodybuilding

[embedded content]
Mike O’Hearn talks about his personal rise to success and shares tips on how to make money as a bodybuilder.
Love him or hate him, Mike O’Hearn is a successful bodybuilder who has made multiple TV appearances, graced the cover of dozens of magazines, and owns accomplished businesses. He took his passion for bodybuilding and turned it into life success. It’s often talks about how competitive bodybuilding in and of itself hardly provides enough funds to make a living. So how does one become a financially successful bodybuilder? In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Mike O’Hearn details the key tactics for making money in bodybuilding.

During our latest video conversation with Mike O’Hearn, we asked him point blank – what advice would he give on how to make money in bodybuilding. He starts off with direct advice and then goes into his own past experiences as examples. His first advice – is to not copy other successful bodybuilders. If it worked for Ronnie Coleman, copying him will only make you a familiar version of that. You want to be original – that’s where real success comes in.
His second piece of advice is to “flip the bird to everybody.” What he means by this is to follow the beat of your own drum. This ties into his first tip. If others think you are breaking the mold too much and are too “weird” or “doing it wrong” – ignore them. True greatness is about breaking the mold. It’s about changing things. The status quo doesn’t make greatness – breaking it does.
Mike O’Hearn also touches on how the typical path to financial success has changed over the past few decades in bodybuilding. He describes how it used to be that you needed to win a big competition, then that got you interviews and TV appearances. If you took those appearances seriously and showed charisma – then you would get more opportunities and eventual sponsorships. Use that initial financial boost for more opportunities – work hard at them – and then suddenly you have a full and successful life.
Now Mike O’Hearn explains that the competition side of things is less important. With social media, you can focus first on your charisma, personality, uniqueness, and of course, your physique. If you get enough followers the opportunities will appear. Then you still have to work hard at those to turn it into a life of success.

Mike O’Hearn then dives into his past and his personal steps that led to his success. He claims that being one of 10 children made him realize the importance of money at a very young age. So when he started succeeding at bodybuilding – he put away all of his money rather than spend it on flashy items. This gave him a foundation for when the competitions stopped.
He then later met Arnold Schwarzenegger who advised him to use his savings to invest in real estate – that’s where the real money is. This is something Schwarzenegger himself did to help bolster his funds (besides, you know, the superstar acting). After O’Hearn did that – the rest is history. He continued to challenge himself and find new opportunities. With the money he had as a foundation he was able to take those risks and succeed long term.
Mike O’Hearn’s last piece of advice was probably the hardest one to swallow. At least for younger bodybuilders. He said that your 20s should be spent working your ass off so you have at least $100k in the bank by 30. He even said that’s on the low end. O’Hearn believes that too often young people spend their 20s having fun. It comes at the cost of building a financial foundation for success. Money later gives you less time in your life to grow that money. If you focus while you are young and have more energy – you can grow that money quicker.
They say that youth is wasted on the young. Mike O’Hearn seems to believe in that statement. But it seems O’Hearn was one of the few young men who decided to try and waste as little time as possible. It explains his intense work ethic with training and business to this day.

Mike O’Hearn: How Being Macho In Bodybuilding Can Backfire

Mike O’Hearn: How Being Macho In Bodybuilding Can Backfire

[embedded content]
Mike O’Hearn talks about the dangers of hiding behind muscle and being “macho” in bodybuilding.
Nearly everyone at some point in their lives deals with anxiety or depressive thoughts. We all go through traumas and tragedies at some point or another. Some of us deal with a constant state of anxiety or depression. Fitness and bodybuilding can be a great tool to help combat these negative thoughts, feelings, and habits. But there can also be a darker side of the coin when it comes to bodybuilding, muscle, and “macho” behavior. In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Mike O’Hearn shares his past experiences with tragedy, anxiety, and depression and how hiding behind muscle and being macho made things harder – not easier.

The past year and a half has been a trying time for nearly everyone in the world to some degree or another. Cases of depression and anxiety have risen as we all deal with a truly traumatic and unprecedented event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why during our conversation with Mike O’Hearn – we asked how he deals with stress, anxiety, and depression.
Mike O’Hearn is an extremely focused and proactive person. It’s been well documented and discussed how seriously he takes his bodybuilding lifestyle. He gets up at the crack of dawn to train every single morning. He never misses one day. On top of that, he’s stuck to an incredibly strict diet to obtain a physique that many think is impossible to build without steroids. O’Hearn has stayed consistent in his all natural claims. With the kind of intense routine he follows – he just might be one of the few to really pull that kind of natural physique off.
But behind all of that focus and strict routine – how does he deal with anxiety and depression? What does Mike O’Hearn do when life throws a tragic curveball? We asked this very question to O’Hearn during our latest interview.
Mike O’Hearn reflects back on two times in his life that were very painful. It was the moment his mother and father passed away. Both deaths occurred separate from each other. His father passed first. At the time, O’Hearn decided to push his emotions and grief down. He wanted to be strong and macho. The kind of strong man that mentally to mach his massive muscle.

It wasn’t until after Mike O’Hearn’s mother passed away that the pain and grief he was suppressing all poured out. Everything that he had avoided during his father’s death boiled up to the surface on top of his new grief upon his mother passing. O’Hearn spiraled into a depressed state. The only thing that brought consistency into his life was his ongoing training and nutrition schedule. It was the only thing he had control over.
Ultimately, Mike O’Hearn slowly recovered and pulled himself out of the hole. By facing his emotions and admitting to others that he was facing emotional struggles – he was able to finally face a series of grief that he had been avoiding for years.
Mike O’Hearn tops off the conversation with advice for others who are facing anxiety or depression. Speak out about it. Be open and don’t be afraid to reveal the pain you are going through. Whether that’s speaking to a family member, a friend, or getting professional help.

Many bodybuilders entered into the bodybuilding lifestyle because they wanted to be strong. Perhaps because they were bullied as a kid or simply unhappy with the way they looked. This creates a sort of macho mentality down the road. Bodybuilders will do anything possible to appear strong – not just physically but emotionally.
Mike O’Hearn wants the world to know that it’s okay to open up. That there is actual strength in admitting to grief or anxiety or depression. Instead of hiding behind muscle and a tough guy persona – be honest with not only yourself but also others. It will make you stronger in the end. It will also hopefully make you a happier and more fulfilled person in the big picture.

INTERVIEW: Does Mike O’Hearn Prefer Classic Physique Or Men’s Open Bodybuilding?

INTERVIEW: Does Mike O’Hearn Prefer Classic Physique Or Men’s Open Bodybuilding?

[embedded content]
Mike O’Hearn reacts to Big Ramy’s Olympia win and addresses which kind of physique he prefers – Classic Physique or Men’s Open.
In December 2020, Big Ramy won the Mr. Olympia. It was an epic moment – but also one that solidified an ongoing trend in the IFBB – rewarding bigger mass monster muscle over more classic aesthetics. In 2018, when Shawn Rhoden won the Mr. Olympia, it seemed that perhaps the tables would turn allowing for lighter weight competitors with incredible conditioning to win the day. Just two years later, Big Ramy seems to reverse the tide back towards the likes of Ronnie Coleman. In our latest GI Exclusive interview, we ask all natural bodybuilder Mike O’Hearn what he prefers – a more Classic Physique or the mass monster look of Men’s Open.

Mike O’Hearn has consistently claimed to be a natural bodybuilder his entire life. This has led to backlash due to his massive and impressive physique. His musculature is so large and sculpted that bodybuilding fans have a hard time believing he could be all natural. Regardless of the controversy – O’Hearn has remained steadfast in being all natural his entire life.
While O’Hearn certainly has a massive physique – his body does fall more in line with the Classic Physique division than the bulky mass monsters seen in Men’s Open. With the recent win of Big Ramy at the Mr. Olympia 2020, we wanted to know what Mike O’Hearn personally though about the direction of pro bodybuilding. Does he prefer the Classic Physique division? Or do the “freaks” in Men’s Open still hold an important place in the sport?
Mike O’Hearn may personally prefer to hold more of a classic physique on his body – but that doesn’t mean he disrespects the Men’s Open competitors. In fact, he still holds them in high regard and looks up to their talents. Not only that, but he thinks that Big Ramy’s Olympia 2020 physique maintained good aesthetic while also being a mass monster. In other words, Big Ramy wasn’t just a bulky mass of muscle – he still had the conditioning, shape, and lines displaying the beauty of the sport.
In Mike O’Hearn’s mind – Big Ramy is exactly the example of what a Men’s Open bodybuilder should be. Yes, his massive weight still puts Ramy in the mass monster category – but he also had wonderful aesthetics. At least according to O’Hearn. It reminds him of the first time he started getting into bodybuilder and saw Lee Haney as Olympia champion. It was the perfect combination of superhuman size and beautiful aesthetic.

Mike O’Hearn also deeply enjoys the Classic Physique division. He sees no reason for controversy. Having both divisions gives everyone exactly what they want. There’s still room for the spectacle of the Men’s Open mass monster freaks. At the same time, fans who prefer smaller classic physiques can watch the Classic Physique division.
Will one ultimately become more popular than the other over time? It’s possible – but popularity does not equal quality. Each division has talented athletes showcasing the kinds of physiques they are comfortable with. There should be respect among all divisions by both fans and the athletes.

Mike O’Hearn Answers: Is A Bodybuilding Lifestyle Bad For Your Heart & Blood Pressure?

Mike O’Hearn Answers: Is A Bodybuilding Lifestyle Bad For Your Heart & Blood Pressure?

Mike O’Hearn and Vlad Yudin debate about heart heath advice from doctors within the bodybuilding lifestyle.
Mike O’Hearn is a bodybuilder with an incredible physique. But he’s also a bodybuilder who focuses just as much on health and longevity as he does on his outward physique. It’s certainly possible to have a sculpted massive physique but be incredible healthy under the hood. O’Hearn understands that and has dedicated his life to overall health. That’s why we asked O’Hearn his thoughts on heart health and blood pressure for bodybuilders. In our latest GI Exclusive, Mike O’Hearn breaks down why he thinks heavy weightlifting and bodybuilding is ultimately good for your heart and blood pressure.
Mike O’Hearn has seemingly accomplished the impossible. He maintains a mass monster physique without the use of PEDs. It’s so incredible that many believe he is lying and secretly uses steroids. It’s a strong believed rumor that has persisted for nearly O’Hearn’s entire career.

Regardless, it’s clear O’Hearn has been consistent in his claims of being all natural. Not only that – O’Hearn has always promoted healthy lifestyle choices within the world of bodybuilding. It’s surprisingly possible to build an impressive massive physique with unhealthy habits. Mike O’Hearn wants to have his cake and eat it too. An incredible physique and incredible long term health.
But is that fully possible when carrying mass monster levels of muscle? We asked this question to Mike O’Hearn, specifically in regards to heart health and blood pressure. Vlad Yudin states that he had a conversation with a cardiologist claiming that heavy weightlifting and massive muscle is ultimately bad for your heart in the long term. The reasoning behind this is two fold. On one hand, you are still carrying a massive amount of weight on your body. This is harder for the heart to pump blood through. On the other hand, the heart can actually grow like a muscle. Heavy weightlifting can increase hearts size (this is ultimately a bad thing).

When asked about this, Mike O’Hearn had his own rebuttal. He recently visited a cardiologist for a routine check up. Not only is O’Hearn incredibly healthy for his age. He also discussed overall heart heath when it comes to heavy weightlifting. His conversation with a doctor revealed the opposite opinion. Lifting weights helps make the heart stronger. Mix that with a healthy diet and you avoid high blood pressure as well.

So what is the correct answer here? Two different doctors with two different opinions on bodybuilding and heart health. Mike O’Hearn chooses to then look at anecdotal evidence. O’Hearn looks back at pro bodybuilders from the golden era and what we know about their health now in their twilight years. According to O’Hearn, many of these older former bodybuilders are healthier and more able bodied than many people their age. This makes O’Hearn believe bodybuilding, when done correctly, is ultimately healthy for your heart.
Mike O’Hearn puts an important caveat on that statement. It’s very easy for a bodybuilder to abuse the techniques to make up an ultimately unhealthy lifestyle. Bodybuilders can eat crap to bulk up muscle. These “dirty” foods can lead to high blood pressure and ultimately heart problems. Heavy lifting can also go too far. Going hardcore each session in the short term does not look forward towards health in the long term.
O’Hearn also makes one more statement in regards to bodybuilding and heart health. Ultimately, there is a randomness to health as a whole. Some people smoke their whole lives but live to be 100. Some people are incredibly healthy-minded but die in their thirties. This doesn’t mean it’s not worth focusing on health – but it does mean that we shouldn’t accidentally assume coincidence is evidence of an actual statistical trend.

Mike O’Hearn: Untimely Bodybuilding Deaths Are Not A Coincidence. It’s Due To Abuse

Mike O’Hearn: Untimely Bodybuilding Deaths Are Not A Coincidence. It’s Due To Abuse

Mike O’Hearn talks health in bodybuilding including cheat meals, alcohol, PEDs, and the recent rise of untimely bodybuilder deaths.
Mike O’Hearn is known for being one of the most impressive bodybuilders to be all natural. Depending on who you ask, he’s also notoriously known for lying about his all-natural status. His physique is so impressive, swaths of bodybuilding fans believe he must be lying. Whether you think he’s telling the truth or not – O’Hearn has been consistent in his statements and dedicated his life towards health in bodybuilding.
The core of the bodybuilding lifestyle is focused on healthy changes and meeting fitness goals. But when you look at competitive and pro bodybuilding – things start to get skewed. Debate about the use of PEDs such as steroids is common. Also the mass monster mentality of enormous size is seen as unhealthy compared to the smaller “classic” frames of the 1960s and 1970s.

Not only that, but the past decade has presented us with reports of many tragic untimely deaths of pro bodybuilders. Deaths ranging from ages in the mid 20s through to 50s. Is this just a coincidence with no real connecting cause between them? Or is it due to the lifestyle bodybuilding demands? In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Mike O’Hearn discusses health in bodybuilding, death in bodybuilding, and the use of PEDs in the sport.
During our new interview discussion with Mike O’Hearn, we asked if he has any unhealthy habits. Does he occasionally indulge in a cheat meal? Does he drink alcohol? This question might sound slightly silly – but if you know O’Hearn it’s a more pointed question than others might expect.

Mike O’Hearn is known for his incredible dedication to structure and health. He trains at the same time in the morning every single day. He’s stuck on the same diet nearly his entire life. He’s never done steroids (though contested by some bodybuilding fans). Those who know him claim his impressive physique is possible naturally only because of his inhuman dedication to health and fitness.

So does he cheat at all? Whether you believe him or not. The answer is no. He claims that he started bodybuilding at such a young age (around 9 years old) that he never developed an interest or habit for alcohol. He’s never drank. When it comes to cheat meals – he’s not interested either. He essentially never developed those bad habits. He avoided it as a kid – so has no taste for it now.
Mike O’Hearn also goes into more detail as to why he never turned or was even curious about trying steroids as a bodybuilder. He tells a few stories of his older brothers and sisters who were all into strength sports. Some turned towards steroids and he saw how it affected them. His sister, in particular,  saw such a personality and physical change after doing steroids that O’Hearn didn’t even recognize her. These moments made him build no interest in the drug at a young age.
O’Hearn doesn’t resent the decisions his siblings and other athletes make. While it’s not for him – he doesn’t want to tell others what to do with heir lives. There are tones of unhealthy things we all do as a society. Some people smoke and still live to be 90. That doesn’t mean it’s healthy – but it does mean some can get away with it. It’s the individual’s choice. O’Hearn respects that.
He does however think that the untimely deaths recently being reported in bodybuilder are likely due to unhealthy choices in bodybuilding. He doesn’t think it’s all a coincidence being spun by media. He thinks it’s due to abuse.

“The power to be the greatest makes you do stuff you don’t want to do,” Mike O’Hearn states in our interview. He’s referring to pro athletes wanting to do whatever possible to rise up and become an iconic champion. He understands that drive. All proactive athletes make these sacrifices to different degrees. Unfortunately, with PEDs it can lead to a slippery slope. It goes from sacrifice into full blown abuse.
Mike O’Hearn admits that he is no doctor or analyst. But he does know enough examples and anecdotes from being in the industry to know that PEDs are being pushed to the point of abuse. He leaves us off with a question. With the internet providing more immediate and free access to information – why does it seem the populous is less educated? He doesn’t have an exact answer. But he thinks that question ties into the more controversial debates on PED usage and deaths over the past decade.

Mike O’Hearn: People Want To See Logan Paul Get His Ass Kicked… And He Knows It

Mike O’Hearn: People Want To See Logan Paul Get His Ass Kicked… And He Knows It

Mike O’Hearn Answers: Is Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather bad for the sport of boxing?
With the Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather boxing match right around the corner, the controversial influencer has been making headlines again after an eventful press conference for the bout. Logan Paul as a public figure has been a hotly debated topic for years now. Is his success bad for the future of entertainment? And now more specifically, is his latest fight against Mayweather bad for the future of boxing? In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Mike O’Hearn weighs in on whether or not Logan Paul is a good or bad change for boxing.
The Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather boxing match is not the first of it’s kind. Not only has Paul been doing super exhibition PPV matches in the past, but there was also the UFC/boxing crossover of Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather. These “super fights” fall outside the traditional norms of professional boxing. However, they also bring in massive amounts of interest and money. They are arguably more financially successful than real title matches in the sport.

Of course, popularity does not always equal quality. This is the main controversy behind Logan Paul’s entire career. Whether it’s boxing, YouTube, or any other place he appears – Logan Paul brings in massive views and massive money. But does it come at a cost? Does it diminish the credibility and quality of entertainment and sports?
We asked this question during our latest interview with Mike O’Hearn. Mike O’Hearn is a bodybuilder and public figure who’s familiar with controversy. He’s a bodybuilder who has consistently claimed to be all-natural. But the general bodybuilding public don’t believe he’s telling the truth due to his incredible physique. Not only that but O’Hearn is also a man who is familiar with building his own brand and personality beyond just being a bodybuilder.

Check out our GI Exclusive segment with Mike O’Hearn above!
So what does he think of Logan Paul? His personality, love him or hate him, brings in attention. That attention creates massively attended events. That brings in money – which in turn can help bolster whatever industry Paul is engaging with. His latest, a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather – is set to potentially break records in terms of sales.

Mike O’Hearn sees no problem in Logan Paul’s tactics. While O’Hearn personally does not find Paul entertaining, he also sees the numbers. Most people enjoy watching Paul, either to “hate watch” him or because they are legitimate fans. Either way, Logan Paul is aware of this fact. He’s taking advantage of it. O’Hearn sees no problem in that.
Ultimately the success of Logan Paul relies 100% on his fans continuing to take an interest. He’s not forcing fans to enjoy his boxing crossover events. In that sense, it’s less Logan Paul that is the problem and more the audience. They decide what interests them. Right now, Logan Paul is the thing they want.
Mike O’Hearn goes on to mention that anything you can do to trigger society will always get attention. If you can monetize that attention, then you’re finding success in a tactic that always works.

Mike O’Hearn even relates Logan Paul, his success, and his controversy to modern bodybuilding.
“I said this to some old time bodybuilders that don’t have a big following on social media,” Mike O’Hearn states in our interview. He goes on:
“They’re like, ‘I won the titles, I won all of this, and I don’t get the respect I deserve.’ And it’s like – it’s the world that changes. You have to keep adapting. You have to keep moving with it. It’s the personality. Bruce Lee and Arnold [Schwarzenegger] made it because of their personality. If they were boring cardboard they wouldn’t have made it.”
