Hampton Morris Sets Youth World Record With 155-Kg Clean & Jerk
Hampton Morris impresses with a new youth world record in the Clean & Jerk.
Hampton Morris competed in the Junior Pan-American Weightlifting Championships in Manizales, Colombia looking to make some noise. That is exactly what he did in a big way. On Saturday, July 10, Morris set a youth world record with a 155-kg (341.7lb) clean & jerk.
The 17-year-old weightlifter competing in the 61-kg weight class stepped up and made it look easy. His father and coach, Tripp Morris, captured the record-setting lift and proudly shared it via Instagram.
There is something special about a young competitor. It could be the raw talent and strength at such a young age or it could be the maturity and patience that is present. Hampton Morris displayed both early in his life. He began entered his first competition back in July of 2016 and has been setting records ever since. Morris credits his father for getting him involved in the sport.
Hampton Morris began his day on Saturday with a failed snatch attempt of 112 kg (246.9lb). He was successful on his second attempt to lock in the weight. Morris was successful on all three attempts of his clean & jerk. Prior to setting the record, Morris hit a 145-kg (319.7lb) and 151-kg (332.9lb) lift. He finished with a total of 267 kg (588.6lb) total when the two lifts when added together.
After completing this lift, Morris now holds 15 American records. He is one of four people who have set a Youth record at an international meet, joining Harrison Maurus, Clarence Cummings Jr., and Cheryl Haworth.
Morris beat out his Senior American record of a 154-kg clean & jerk that he set during the 2021 USAW National Championship in Detroit. Prior to that, Morris came out on top during the Rouge Fitness “Bella Complex” challenge. Morris competed in the Male Light division and scored 145.2 kg (320lb).
The current Senior world record in the clean & jerk is 174 kg held by Indonesia’s Eko Yuli. The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games will take place from July 23-August 8, where this record has a chance to be bested. Maurus and Cummings Jr. will be representing Team USA at the event.
With competitors like Hampton Morris leading the way, the United States has a chance to make a serious impact in the net Olympic cycles. Morris is already a force and that will only continue as he continues to mature and get even stronger.

George Farah Warns Bodybuilders: Stop Old School Bulking And Cutting
[embedded content]
George Farah favors building muscle slowly rather than old school bulking and cutting and warns of dire consequences.
George Farah is a legendary bodybuilding coach. He has also been much more vocal in the past decade about how his perception is changing as to what a pro bodybuilder needs to succeed. In fact, Farah believes that as bodybuilding culture changes – the training and dieting has not caught up and it’s endangering athlete health. In our latest GI Exclusive interview, George Farah warns against old school bulking and cutting in bodybuilding. He fears it will raise high blood pressure and lead to damage to kidneys and the liver.
Heart health and high blood pressure has been a topic we’ve discussed previously during our GI Exclusive interviews. That’s why we decided to turn to the bodybuilding guru himself – George Farah – for his take on how to avoid high blood pressure as a mass monster bodybuilder. His answer expands past blood pressure and also into liver and kidney health as well.
George Farah worries that the current culture of bodybuilding is leading to more health risks than necessary for athletes. Much like other individuals we have interviewed recently, Farah believes mass monster culture is leading to younger bodybuilder getting too big, too fast. More specifically, be believes that the old school method of bulking and cutting is no longer the best way to prep as a pro bodybuilder.
Bulking and cutting has been a very common way for pro bodybuilders to train and diet for decades. In short, in involves eating more to bulk up muscle in the off season and then cutting down during competition prep. This allows for a shredded and conditioned look after adding some significant size.
This is of course not the only way to prepare. Bodybuilders like Dexter Jackson have long since focused on staying lean all year and building muscle slowly rather than going through bulking cycles. While bulking itself can be done clean – there are many who will dirty bulk to put on as much weight as possible. Not all of it is muscle and the cutting phase becomes more challenging.
George Farah believes that with the changes in bodybuilding today – bulking has become more dangerous. Especially dirty bulking. There are more powerful supplements and drugs being taken by bodybuilders. Not only that – but the overall size of bodybuilders has increased since the golden age of the sport. This makes the bulking and cutting phase much more dangerous.
The mass amounts of food needed to eat during bulking will inevitably lead to health problems. High blood pressure and possible future heart issues is just one of them. All of the food and ingredients a person eats needs to be processed through the liver and kidneys. During consistent bulking every year – this can over time do some serious damage to both organs.
In our previous segment with George Farah, he claimed that if a bodybuilder can’t see his or her abs during the off season – then they are doing something wrong. This same mentality goes into his view on bodybuilder health. In the chase for building as much muscle as fast as possible – unnecessary risks are being taken. These risks won’t show the true significance of the damage until many years down the road. It’s easy for young people to avoid thinking about it. Life seems long and possible danger is so far away.
It’s just like cigarettes – consistent use in the long term can lead to serious health issues. But millions of people smoke every year. It’s short sighted. It’s focusing on the short term benefits over the long term losses. George Farah has had enough of it. Much like our past few videos – he desperately warns the new generation to actually think ahead. “There is life after bodybuilding,” Farah says multiple times in this video. He can’t stop repeating it. He hopes it eventually starts changing the culture.
You can watch George Farah go into detail about blood pressure in bodybuilding, bulking, and cutting in our latest GI Exclusive interview segment above.
Joe Rogan Thinks This Could Be How Conor McGregor Broke His Leg
Could this be how Conor McGregor broke his leg?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know the result of the recent trilogy bout between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. The outcome was marred by the fact that McGregor broke his leg at the end of the first round.
After a fast start in round one, Conor McGregor found himself on his back for much of the first round. Dustin Poirier was raining down some heavy shots from top position and made every strike count. McGregor did well to survive, but he was definitely beaten and bruised after the first frame.
Then the two found themselves back on the feet, ready for a striking battle once again. The two traded blows and then the unexpected happened. After attempting to throw a left cross, Conor McGregor stepped back on his left leg and his shin suddenly snapped.
Ouch…
Many people have been speculating about what caused his injury, Joe Rogan being one of them. The comedian and UFC commentator was there to see the injury occur live. Rogan would go on to make a post on his Instagram where he and MMA coach Eric Nicksick believe Conor McGregor broke his leg.
Viewer Discretion Advised
This is it. You can see where it breaks. Shoutout to @eric_xcmma’s mom! If you go to @laura_sanko’s page she did an amazing job interviewing @coach_kavanagh and he describes exactly what we’re seeing here.
Repost: @eric_xcmma ⚡︎ Credit to my mom, yes, my mom wrote me at 7am to tell me she thinks Conor broke his foot off Dustin’s elbow after throwing the rear teep kick. After slowing it down, it makes a lot of sense. Watch the integrity of his foot before and after. You be the judge ⚡︎
That was pretty painful to watch.
The speculation is that Conor McGregor broke his shin when Dustin Poirier defended his front kick with an elbow block. It certainly makes sense, though the likelihood that the defensive motion was enough to shatter bone is a bit hard to believe. Others speculated that McGregor may have injured the leg in his training.
While kicking the bag or an elbow or shin during sparring, McGregor could have had a fracture in his shin, one that possible wasn’t noticeably painful. From there the constant kicking and contact could have wore down the bone. Eventually the fight with Poirier took place and McGregor’s leg could have been compromised after throwing one of his kicks, resulting in the break.
For now it’s all just speculation. What isn’t speculation is Conor McGregor making himself clear that he’s not ready to hang it up just yet.

Hafthor Bjornsson vs Eddie Hall: Who Has Better Boxing Skills?
Both Hafthor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall show off their boxing skills on the heavy bag during training.
Hafthor Bjornsson or Eddie Hall. Who appears to be the better boxer heading into their September clash? A recent video of both men working on the heavy bag has proven to be illuminating.
The battle between strongman rivals Hafthor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall is fast approaching. Both men have been prepping hard in the gym ever since the fight was first announced. Now that the date is drawing near the question is becoming who looks to have done the better work in their preparation?
As it stands Hafthor Bjornsson has been putting in more diverse work than Eddie Hall. While Hall has no doubt been training hard for the match, there seems to be a lack of training variety (at least from what we’ve seen). Bjornsson is an entirely different story however. The Icelandic strongman has competed in a number of exhibition matches with pro boxers in the lead up to his bout with Hall. That kind of preparation has likely gotten Bjornsson not only physically but mentally prepared to take on Hall.
Recent videos of both Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson recently dropped online. Both men can be seen working on the heavy bag and getting some solid rounds in. This has proven to be the perfect opportunity to compare and contrast both men’s styles and approach to training.
Hafthor Bjornsson
12 minutes on the bag with a resistance band. My god my shoulders were pumped after that! ?
We can see that Hafthor Bjornsson is more fleet of foot in his video. What is also clear is that he appears more technically sound than Hall. There’s definitely a smoothness and high quality to his punches that are cleaner than his counterpart’s.
Eddie Hall
1000’s of hours in my basement just plodding away getting s**t done! My cardio level is insane and I loving my new passion for Boxing ? ❤️ RDX heavy bag weighs 150kg ?348lbs / 158kg bodyweight ?
What Eddie Hall lacks in clean technique he clearly is making up for in raw power. The sound of his punches exploding on the heavy bag shows clear signs of massive punching power. If he’s able to hit Bjornsson with one of those bombs, it could end up being a short night.
At the end of the day it remains a toss up as to who will win. It is intriguing to see that both men are focused on different aspects of the game. Where Hafthor Bjornsson appears more technique focused, Eddie Hall is embracing his incredible power. It should prove to be an interesting bout.
Who do you think looks more impressive in their training, Hafthor Bjornsson or Eddie Hall?

“It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my father, Paul Parlette Orndorff Jr. . He is better known as “Mr. #1derful” Paul Orndorff. Most of you will remember him for his physique. Larry Wheels Smashes Squat PR Weeks Out From Powerlifting Return
Larry Wheels hit a new squat PR during his latest training.
Larry Wheels set a new personal record in the squat lift. The powerlifter hefted a massive 835lbs and made it look easy. The training was in prep for his upcoming return to the competitive powerlifting arena.
Larry Wheels has some truly incredible strength. The powerlifter has always aimed to push his body past its physical limits. It’s why he’s able to shatter his personal records so often. No feat is too extreme for the powerlifting veteran.
Larry has always sought out new challenges which is what has made him so powerful. If you’re not seeking to improve on yourself then life can get truly mundane and boring. Larry Wheels has vowed to himself that he’ll always seek to improve.
Smashing His Squat PR
So naturally weeks out from his return to powerlifting competition, Larry Wheels once again has outdone himself. The powerlifter hit a new PR in the squat, lifting 835lbs in wraps. The whole feat was captured on video and featured Larry showcasing the grit, strength, and determination he’s become known for.
With almost eight weeks to go before his return to the powerlifting arena, Larry Wheels is looking stronger than ever. Training alongside long-time friend Black Tom Cruise, Larry was in top form as he prepped for his next meet in New York.
In his most recent YouTube video, Larry Wheels revealed that he’d be competing at Revolution Powerlifting Sydnicate’s (RPS) Long Island Insurrextion meet. Set to take place in Farmingdale, Long Island, NY, Larry hopes to return to form and have a strong showing.
“This is the beginning of a ten-week prep or so, for September 11th, RPS meet,” said Larry Wheels. “This is one of the best entries into contest prep I’ve had in a long time, so I’m really excited about it. After a long hiatus from powerlifting, my spine, my joints, everything feels good, so we’re expecting big things.”
Despite his recent online beef with Greg Doucette, Larry Wheels once again proved how incredibly strong he is. A 835lbs squat is nothing to scoff at and this is only the beginning of his training camp. If he can build on this momentum and continue to get stronger, Larry could really blow away the competition at the RPS meet in September.
With his return set and a positive attitude about his growth potential, Larry Wheels seems poised and ready to take on all challenges. It will be interesting to see what he brings to the table when he returns to the arena that made him so wildly popular.
Are you ready to see Larry Wheels make his return to the competitive powerlifting arena?

Mike O’Hearn Answers: Does Having A Child Change Your Bodybuilding Lifestyle?
[embedded content]
Mike O’Hearn talks about having a child and how that affected his rigorous bodybuilding lifestyle and schedule.
In 2019, Mike O’Hearn became a father and introduced the world to his son Titan. O’Hearn is a bodybuilder known for his insanely rigorous schedule. He would wake up to train at 4am every single day and has stayed committed to that schedule for the past few decades. A child is a big commitment – and one that changes a person’s life forever. So how does that affect the demands of bodybuilding? In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Mike O’Hearn details his personal experience on how having a child changed his bodybuilding lifestyle.
There’s no doubt that having a child is a massive commitment. It changes the parents’ lives forever. Especially in the early years, a child is in constant need of supervision, it adds a lot to financial demands, and starts forcing you to think beyond yourself. A bodybuilder lifestyle, on the other hand, is one that requires a certain level of selfish focus. It also requires a great deal of commitment.
Mike O’Hearn is a bodybuilder who exemplifies the ultimate bodybuilding dedication. He has stuck to an extremely rigorous schedule for training and dieting for nearly four decades. Those who know him well claim that he has never stumbled and always stayed on point. So did having a child throw a wrench into his four decade long dedication?
Mike O’Hearn admits that he needed to start changing up his schedule in order to meet the needs of raising a son. But he’s also lucky in that he owns his own gym and has built a successful life that allows for him to be more flexible. Despite now having to dedicate time to loving and raising a child – he still makes sure to stick to his bodybuilding plans. In fact, he claims to have put on even more muscle over the past year.
This is in large part due to the pandemic as well. Just a year after Mike O’Hearn’s son was born, COVID-19 shut down the United States and most of the world. This meant that one aspect of O’Hearn’s life was put on pause. There were no more public speaking arrangements or guest posings. This allowed him to have his first ever “off season” in a very long time.
Mike O’Hearn is always dedicated to staying in lean shape for guest posings throughout the year. Between the pandemic and having a son – he’s had more time to focus on recovering and bulking up a bit more. He’s now preparing for his first string of guest posing events in over a year. He’s excited because he in fact thinks his physique has improved.
It’s often a common held believe that having a child means putting your other passions on hold. But Mike O’Hearn seems to buck this trend and prove that notion wrong. It of course requires incredible will power – but since bodybuilding is a passion for him – that dedication is fun. In the same way others might want to play video games or go out for drinks – Mike O’Hearn looks forward to training and focusing on his health.
You can watch Mike O’Hearn go into more detail about having a son and his new bodybuilding lifestyle in our latest GI Exclusive interview segment above!
