Regan Grimes Announces He Will Compete in 10 Weeks at 2 Shows

Regan Grimes Announces He Will Compete in 10 Weeks at 2 Shows

Men’s Open Pro Regan Grimes‘ highly anticipated comeback has a date. In a recent YouTube video, Grimes shared a brutal biceps and shoulders workout and said he’s in preparations to compete at two shows in approximately 10 weeks.

“I want to announce today officially that I am 10 weeks and two days out from my competition. I’ve been holding off from telling everybody. But here we have it – 10 weeks two days. First one is going to be in Italy, second one is going to be in Spain, it’s a week after. I’m really excited about that,” Regan Grimes said.

As the 2023 season unfolds, Regan Grimes is ratcheting up the intensity level of his workouts. Grimes has already received plenty of hype and attention during his IFBB Pro League career. He made his Olympia debut in 2021 where he placed 15th. He also impressed judges at the 2021 Legion Sports Fest Pro, where he fell short to the current reigning two-time 212 Olympia Shaun Clarida. However, at the Egypt KO Pro, Regan took first place, a promising sign of his potential down the road.
Unlike 2021, Regan Grimes was met with more resistance on stage last year. While his aesthetics, balance, and conditioning stood out, Grimes ended up taking seventh place not just at the 2022 Arnold Classic (won by Brandon Curry), but also at the Boston Pro, which saw William Bonac claim gold.

Even though Grimes had earned an invitation to the 2022 Olympia show following his win at the Egypt KO Pro show, he chose not to compete at the sport’s biggest event of the year. Instead, he’s taken the time to make improvements and add size under the guidance of his coach Milos Sarcev.
Fans can once again look forward to seeing Regan Grimes back on a bodybuilding stage. In addition to an impressive physique update and shoulders/biceps training session, Grimes discussed where his head is at this season. In addition, he disclosed his weight is sitting at 285-287 pounds.
Regan Grimes to Compete in 10 Weeks at 2 Shows: ‘This Is The Best I’ve Looked This Far Out From a Contest’
According to Grimes, this is the heaviest and leanest he’s ever been.

“That was a great workout. Shoulders and biceps. Really really good. We’re on a four-day split right now so we’re doing its chest and triceps, then we have back, just back on its own actually, then we have shoulders and biceps, and then a leg day. So that four-day split just repeats, then Thursdays and Sundays off.
Right now I’m doing 30 minutes of fasted cardio in the morning, my weight is 285 to 287 in the morning. Kind of fluctuates. So, it’s definitely the heaviest and the leanest I’ve been and the best I’ve looked this far out from a contest. So we are 10 weeks out as of right now. Still eating a ton of food. Kind of like wondering when Milos is going cut the food down a little bit but we’re getting – we’re going in the right direction so kind of just trusting the plan and doing the work is all I need to do.”

Grimes Shares Brutal Shoulder/Biceps-Focused Training Session
Find Regan Grimes’ latest workout list below:

Standing Cable Rear Delt Fly – 4 sets
Seated Machine Lateral Raise – 2 intensity sets to failure
Machine Shoulder Press – 2 working sets
Standing Dumbbell Upright Row/Side Lateral Variation – 3 working sets
Dumbbell Front Raise – 1-2 sets
Seated Machine Biceps Curl (Unilateral) – 2 working sets
Seated Single Arm Cable Preacher curl – 2 sets

Should Regan Grimes find success at either of these two shows, he will earn his ticket to the upcoming Mr. Olympia competition scheduled for November 2-5 in Orlando, Florida. A pro show victory is required to step on the Olympia stage as the point system has been removed. All roads lead to the current Mr. Olympia Hadi Choopan, who successfully took the title from Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay in a surprising turn of events last Dec.
The last time fans heard from Regan Grimes on YouTube he shared a tortuous leg day session led by his coach. The workout consisted of ‘giant sets’ and supersets that induced muscle hypertrophy. During the workout, Sarcev suggested Grimes keep the reps as slow and controlled as possible.
Grimes’ potential is on the radar of many elite veterans of the sport, like former Mr. Olympia Samir Bannout. He recently proposed that Grimes has the genetic gifts and tools to one day win the sport’s most coveted title.
Given Regan Grimes’ time away from the stage, fans are thrilled to see his name back in the mix. Time will tell if he can earn his 2023 Mr. Olympia invite, though it certainly looks like he’s made improvements since his last outing.

Nick Walker on 2023 Olympia: ‘Samson Dauda’s Back is Shit, Big Ramy Is Done & Andrew Jacked Won’t Make Top 5’

Nick Walker on 2023 Olympia: ‘Samson Dauda’s Back is Shit, Big Ramy Is Done & Andrew Jacked Won’t Make Top 5’

Nick Walker‘s brutally honest personality was on full display during a recent interview. In an HD Muscle YouTube video, Walker revealed his top five for 2023 Mr. Olympia and examined contenders expected to compete this November.

“Everyone is just getting better, that’s just the reality. The newcomers are getting better and better and the older guys are going out. The young kids are coming up,” said Nick Walker.

The Men’s Open division’s popularity is at an all-time high following the last two major bodybuilding shows. Last year’s Mr. Olympia contest was filled with twists, turns, and unexpected surprises as Hadi Choopan claimed gold in a memorable affair. However, the former two-time champ, Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay‘s night did not go as planned. He was sidelined for most of prejudging and was eventually awarded fifth place.
Nick Walker, on the other hand, improved on the Mr. Olympia stage once again in third with 212-turned-Open talent Derek Lunsford securing runner-up. Instead of using the time to rebound, Walker jumped back into the 2023 Arnold Classic on short notice. He faced Samson Dauda and Andrew Jacked in Columbus, Ohio, — two names he already defeated on the Olympia stage.

In the end, Samson Dauda’s shape, symmetry, proportions, and conditioning proved to be a winning combination. And while he bested Walker on that night, ‘The Mutant’ isn’t convinced Samson will contend for gold at this year’s Mr. Olympia. In a Mutant and the Mouth Podcast, Walker said it would either be himself or Lunsford accepting the first-place trophy.
With less than five months until the biggest bodybuilding show on the calendar, preparations are heating up for everyone, including Walker. Before capping off his brief off-season, the 28-year-old picked apart some of the top names he intends to face in the coming months.
Nick Walker’s Top 5 for 2023 Mr. Olympia, Talks Hunter Labrada’s Path to Redemption, Samson Dauda & Big Ramy
Walker believes the 2023 Mr. Olympia top five will feature himself, Hadi Choopan, Derek Lunsford, Samson Dauda, and Hunter Labrada. Similar to Labrada, Walker says Samson’s weakest body part is his back.
“To be honest, I think it will be me, Hadi, Derek, I think Samson will jump into the top five, it’s four right there right? And I’m going to throw one out there, I think Hunter is going to get a spot back,” said Walker. “Well, okay, if we’re going to talk facts, Samson’s got a shit back too. I don’t know. Neither is Samson’s [back 3D]. Samson’s is flat as a board. There’s nothing going on there. From the front Samson is a monster but he turns around, wait what happened?”
In Walker’s opinion, Big Ramy is done. However, he mentioned that he’s still young enough to take time off and return with improvements.

“I think Ramy is done. I think Ramy is done,” said Walker. I do know Ramy, he’s done. Oh my God, he’s the sweetest guy.”
“I don’t think he’s done but he needs the year off to refocus, do some shit, and then come back. He’s still not young young, but he’s still young enough where he can make some changes.”

Nick predicts Labrada will have to win a battle against rookie Justin Shier to earn his spot on the Olympia stage.
“It is [Hunter’s weak spot is his back] but I think Hunter is hungry. [He was] devastated [after last year]. He knows what he needs to do. Do I think it’s going to be a while before his back catches up? Sure. But do I think it looks a lot better already? Yeah. So if he wins, which he probably will… he’s got plenty of time to keep making improvements.”
“I think that will be a battle [at Chicago Pro]. If Hunter can peak right and obviously we all know Matt doesn’t miss – so Justin [Shier] will be peaked. That’s going to be a battle. It’s going to be tough. I think Hunter overall is a little overwhelming than Justin. He’s a little wider and bigger but Justin’s can just hang, if Justin is a little better conditioned and peaked right, I think he can take out Hunter.”
“I’ll use Chris Bumstead as an example, one year he had no back, the following year he had the best back in Classic. That was one year. All it takes is hard work.”
Andrew Jacked Top 5? Walker says NO.
When asked about Andrew Jacked, Walker doesn’t believe he’ll outshine Samson Dauda or place in the top five this November.

“No [Andrew Jacked won’t make top five at 2023 Olympia]. No way [he beats Samson Dauda]. No. No. No. I have Samson, I have him in the top 6-8 spot,” added Walker.

Michal Krizo
As for Michal Krizo, Walker admits he’s big but doesn’t see him doing better than 10th. He added that Hadi didn’t win soundly last year so he doesn’t see him as a dominant titleholder like Phil Heath was.
“No [not a fan of his]. No, he’s big. He’s a big boy. But no. I see him maybe 10th. Maybe,” Walker said. “I think, listen, Hadi is great but just in my opinion, he’s a one-hit-wonder. He wasn’t like a Phil Heath where he won and you’re like, ‘Oh shit.’ I didn’t feel that with him, you know. With the competition now, even if I win, I don’t think it’s guaranteed I win again.”
Walker Casts Doubt on Blessing Awodibu & Regan Grimes This Year
According to Walker, until Awodibu brings up his legs, he will remain in the third call-out at Olympia. In addition, he doubted Regan Grimes’ potential and said he doesn’t think he ‘has the heart’ for bodybuilding.

“Blessing needs to get some legs before he talks shit,” said Walker. “I love Blessing but I think… Blessing just has – he’s afraid to ask for help. It’s like – I tried to help him, I’ve had friends try to give him advice, but Blessing is like ‘I don’t want advice.’ Alright, well that’s why you’re in the third call-out. And he was in the third call-out.”
“Regan, listen, he’s a nice guy. He should stick to the IG stuff. Listen, I just don’t think he has the mindset. Now that I’m around him a lot, I don’t think he has the heart. I don’t think he has the consistency. Bodybuilding is I’d say 100% mindset, yes. If your mind is not in this you will fail. He doesn’t look any different to me. He doesn’t, I’m sorry but he doesn’t. Yeah [it’s a mental thing] of course. I think he wants to but he’s just always distracted by other shit. Unfortunately, if you want to be at the top you unfortunately have to cut everything off. You have to be all in,”
After wrapping up his discussion on the Open class, Walker shared that Phil Heath won’t be coming back. When asked why, he pointed to monetary reasons.

“No, no. They [Masters Olympia] ain’t paying enough for him to come back,” Walker shared.

With contest schedules intensifying, plenty of top names have offered their take on who will become the next Mr. O. William Bonac, a two-time Arnold Classic titleholder, is convinced Choopan will repeat as champion later this year. Yet, former eight-time Olympia winner Ronnie Coleman doesn’t agree. He recently stated that Derek Lunsford will overthrow Choopan to become the next Mr. Olympia.
Samson Dauda has been open about his game plan for his sophomore Olympia appearance. He and his trainer Milos Sarcev agree that his only path to victory against Lunsford and Choopan is by bringing a more complete back. With that in mind, Dauda believes once his back is on par with the rest of his physique, the title will be his.
Given that Nick Walker has yet to slip on the Mr. Olympia stage, it’s hard to imagine he won’t showcase improvements in November. With how close last year’s show was, fans look forward to seeing who becomes the 18th man in history to win a Sandow trophy.

Regan Grimes Announces He Will Not Compete At 2022 Olympia, Plans To Put On 15 Pounds Of Muscle

Regan Grimes Announces He Will Not Compete At 2022 Olympia, Plans To Put On 15 Pounds Of Muscle

Regan Grimes announced that he will sit out the Olympia to add some more size.
Regan Grimes has not competed since March and now, fans will have to wait until next year to see him back on stage. Grimes announced on Cutler Cast with Jay Cutler that he will sit out the 2022 Olympia. He plans to put on 15 pounds of muscle to compete with the size on stage.
Grimes qualified for the 2022 Olympia after winning the 2021 Egypt KO Pro. He continued to compete to see where the matched up with the other competitors. Grimes finished as the runner-up to Shaun Clarida during the 2021 Legion Sports Fest before seventh-place finishes during the Arnold Classic and Boston Pro.
Following Boston, Grimes announced that he would be taking some time off to prepare for the Olympia. Now, he will take even more time to make some changes to his physique.

Regan Grimes Shares Plan For Next Season
Regan Grimes made the official announcement on the podcast, which was released on Thursday morning.
“We’ve decided to take it off this year and continue putting tissue on and we’ll hit a show next year and go to Olympia,” Regan Grimes said.
“I’m 14 weeks out from the Olympia and I need to put on 15 pounds of muscle to compete. I’ve been competing for the last 10 years and I think this is the time to take a year off.”
Regan Grimes continued to explain the aspects that went into this decision. Grimes and Milos Sarcev ultimately felt like this was the best course of action to prepare for next year.
“We did the Arnold’s, but unfortunately, I got sick halfway through. We were going to keep pushing and hoped the body would start responding. After Arnold, Boston and Reno, we had a 12-week and 12-week break, and then 24 weeks out from the Olympia, we started discussing something and around 13-14 weeks out.”

Milos Sarcev Believes Regan Grimes Needs More Size To Compete With Big Ramy
Milos Sarcev had plenty of positive things to say about Grimes’ physique. He is a well-conditioned competitor who brings great symmetry as well. Now, he will have to add more muscle in order to compete with the size of Big Ramy. There are many who believe Ramy is unbeatable is he comes to the Olympia shredded.
He blows them out of the water as far as symmetry, balance and shape, but they’re still going to beat him in this mass department. Nowadays you have to have size to compete with Big Ramy,” Milos Sarcev said.
Regan Grimes now has a plan moving forward and will begin putting it into motion. Fans will look forward to seeing Grimes qualify for the 2023 Olympia and ultimately compete on the biggest stage.

Just shy of 300lbs, its clear that Grimes is doing his best to contend with the bigger men in the division. With Big Ramy weighing over 300lbs and looking solid and shredded, everyone in the division including Grimes is looking to match the reigning Mr. Olympia’s size.
Massive Size
Regan Grimes confirmed that this is the biggest he’s ever been by far. That means whatever he’s been doing with Milos Sarcev has been paying off.
Biggest I’ve been by far! 290+ time to shred it down for the @mrolympiallc ??

We can see that Regan Grimes has been putting in the work to grow. He’s been hard at work in the gym and has been putting in some serious training. He doesn’t appear bloated whatsoever and that means he has plenty of room to shred down for the Olympia and look impressive.

Regan Grimes is Looking Massive in Recent 290Lb Physique Update

Regan Grimes is Looking Massive in Recent 290Lb Physique Update

Regan Grimes is tipping the scales of 290lbs!
Stand out Men’s Open bodybuilder Regan Grimes is apparently sitting at 290lbs. The popular bodybuilder revealed his recent weight in a physique update. In his post to social media Grimes made his intentions known as he aims to bring a new and improved version of himself to the Olympia stage.
These days it’s hard for a bodybuilder below 250lbs to make waves in the Men’s Open division. While there are plenty of incredible bodybuilders on the lighter end of the Open division, the men in the top ten all carry a considerable amount of muscle on their frame. Considering that the current reigning Mr. Olympia Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay routinely tips the scales at over 300lbs, logic determines that many athletes are looking to replicate the champ’s approach.
With all that said, if a competitor hopes to become Mr. Olympia then they must aim to bring something new to the table. But size will still be a requirement to get the job done. That is something that Regan Grimes has come to learn.
After a stint in the Classic Physique division, Regan Grimes has doubled down on his Open bodybuilding aspirations. Teaming up with the likes of veteran bodybuilder and coach Milos Sarcev, Grimes has shown a considerable amount of improvement. He has gained a great deal of size while maintaining a svelte waist and great conditioning. He’ll need those qualities as he takes on the best bodybuilders in the world.
Jacked at 290!
Knowing he needed to bring something new to the table, Regan Grimes has been hard at work in the gym. The talented bodybuilder has packed on the muscle and shows no signs of slowing down. A recent post to his Instagram account shows Grimes in top physical condition as he weighs in at a massive 290lbs!
290lbs with 24 weeks left @mrolympiallcEveryday is a chance to be better! Let’s Work!!!

It’s clear that Regan Grimes has been putting in some quality work. All his recent updates are proof of that.

Jordan Shallow’s Analysis: What Regan Grimes Needs To Become Olympia Champion

Jordan Shallow’s Analysis: What Regan Grimes Needs To Become Olympia Champion

Jordan Shallow believes that Regan Grimes simply needs one thing to become an Olympia champion… time and patience.
Regan Grimes has been a promising bodybuilder with an extremely focused mission to become an Olympia champion. His recent move to working with Milos Sarcev signaled just how serious he is about pushing his physique to the next level. There’s no doubt that Regan has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue over the past years – but he has yet to upgrade to that next level. In our latest GI Exclusive interview, The Muscle Doc, Jordan Shallow, shares his analysis on what Regan Grimes needs to become an Olympia champion.
Jordan Shallow is called The Muscle Doc for a reason. And that’s because he is a very knowledgable individual on all things muscle, weightlifting, and bodybuilding. While he’s not a bodybuilding guru per se, he has been an avid fan of professional bodybuilding for quite some time. That combined with his health and fitness knowledge make him a valuable resource of analysis for the present and future of bodybuilding. That’s why we decided to ask him about the hype behind Regan Grimes – and what the future may hold for his career.

Regan Grimes is a pro bodybuilder who has been on an extended hype train. In some ways, his journey is similar to Big Ramy. He continues to turn heads with each year – but ultimately fails to upgrade to that next level when it really counts – at the Mr. Olympia. That’s not to say he is a slouch of a competitor. In fact, the constant hype behind him shows just how impressive his physique is – it just needs that final push into champion status. The same was said for years with Big Ramy until his victories in 2020 and 2021.

So what does Regan Grimes need to go to the next level. With Big Ramy it was always clear – he needed to improve his conditioning. For Grimes it may be the opposite. His conditioning is often fantastic – but his size might not match up to the likes of someone reigning as champion the size of Big Ramy.
Jordan Shallow believes that there is not one specific thing Regan Grimes is doing wrong that needs improvement. In fact, he believes that Grimes is doing everything right. His latest decision to train under Milos Sarcev further proves that point. It shows that – A: Milos sees enough promise in him to spend time training Regan and B: that Regan is ready to push himself to the next level with a legendary trainer such as Milos.
So with that in mind, Jordan Shallow believes that Regan Grimes simply needs time. He’s young, still in his twenties and has plenty of time to gain further muscle maturity, experience, and growth. Big Ramy, by contrast, is in his late thirties. Shallow believes that time will simply benefit Grimes’ physique. Not only that, but the sport itself may also change over the coming years. Eventually Big Ramy will either step down or be taken down from Olympia champion status. Perhaps Grimes will not be the first one to do that. But perhaps when he is ready – the sport will look different than it does today.

ABOVE: Regan Grimes showcasing his recent physique three weeks out from the Arnold Classic 2022.
In that regard, Jordan Shallow doesn’t believe that Regan Grimes needs to pack on 300 pounds of muscle in order to win the Olympia. He just needs patience, focus, and continued hard work with someone like Milos Sarcev. In time, just like with Ramy over the past decade, Grimes’ strengths will become unstoppable.
You can watch Jordan Shallow’s full analysis of Regan Grimes’ physique in our latest GI Exclusive interview above.

Milos Sarcev On His Plan To Transform Regan Grimes Into Mr. Olympia

Milos Sarcev On His Plan To Transform Regan Grimes Into Mr. Olympia

How Milos Sarcev completely overhauled Regan Grimes’ prep to transform him into a real threat to the Mr. Olympia throne.
Over the past month or so, Regan Grimes has been making headlines for his impressive physique updates. These came shortly after it was announced he would be working with Milos Sarcev as his coach. The plan? To upgrade Grimes’ physique into the next Mr. Olympia champion. The early results certainly look promising. In our latest GI Exclusive, Milos Sarcev explains his plan step-by-step on how he’s radically transforming Regan Grimes into a more powerful Mr. Olympia contender.
Milos Sarcev is a legendary bodybuilder in his own right and in his later years has become known as a legendary trainer and coach. It was announced in 2021 that he would be taking on Regan Grimes as one of his athletes. This caused quite some buzz as Grimes is already considered a promising athlete in the sport. The buzz only intensified after physique update videos and images started popping up at the end of the year. Regan Grimes appeared to improve his mass drastically.

We had an opportunity to reconnect with Milos Sarcev via video chat recently – and we dove in deep about his decision to start training Regan Grimes. As previously mentioned, Grimes has had much hype behind him over the past few years. He was also earlier featured in our feature film Generation Iron 3. Yet despite this hype, he found himself placing 15th at the Mr. Olympia in 2021 and 2020. What happened? And what needs to change?

A major shake up in coaches seems to signal Regan Grimes is ready to overhaul his tactics. And Milos Sarcev seems to agree that a lot needs to change. Not because Grimes is disappointing in his current state. On the contrary, he shows so much promise – it simply needs new direction towards success.
“Many coaches, many bodybuilders, accept mediocrity or just doing what is expected of what they [judges] think,” Milos Sarcev states in our interview regarding bodybuilding prep and coaches. He continues, “They never really give a thought how to maximize every aspect. Every aspect.”
Milos Sarcev then reveals that upon starting to coach Regan Grimes, he asked what his posing routine plan was. Grimes admitted he had no prepared posing routine. He just did the mandatories. This both shocked and did not shock Milos. He believes that majority of Men’s Open bodybuilders simply do the mandatories. Which means Grimes certainly needs to take advantage of that and wow the judges with a pre-planned posing routine.
This is the kind of “maximize everything” mentality that Milos Sarcev plans to bring to Regan Grimes’ bodybuilding career. Sarcev gets even more granular – asking Grimes to explain how much he knows how to properly hit an ab pose and how to showcase legs properly. Not just the general mandatories – but the technical skill down to the very last detail.
Milos Sarcev provides another example of how he’s overhauling Regan Grimes’ bodybuilding prep. Sarcev deeply questioned Grimes about his diet and explains that most bodybuilders follow the same basic philosophy behind dieting. But bodybuilders can get tested to know much more specific detail about their body and their metabolic rate. It’s that kind of maximized detail that Sarcev will ensure Grimes focuses on under his training.
It’s often said that a successful bodybuilder runs their body like a high end powerful car or machine. Milos Sarcev seems to take this nearly literally. Every aspect of Regan Grimes’ training, dieting, and posing are being examined under a microscope. No stone is being left unturned. And Sarcev believes this tactic will turn Regan Grimes into a true Mr. Olympia champion within the upcoming years.
