Milos Sarcev: Shaun Clarida Can Beat Big Ramy… Under One Condition
[embedded content]
Milos Sarcev discusses Shaun Clarida’s Men’s Open victory in 2021… and why he should seriously consider competing in both Men’s 212 and Men’s Open at Olympia next year.
Shaun Clarida may not have won the Men’s 212 Olympia this year, but he shocked the world in a different way by claiming victory in the Men’s Open at the Legion Sports Fest Pro 2021. This wasn’t a slouch contest either. Clarida took down the likes of Regan Grimes and Sergio Oliva Jr. in the lineup. Shortly after the victory, Clarida mused about attempting to compete in both the Men’s 212 and Men’s Open at the Olympia 2022. In our latest GI Exclusive, bodybuilding coach Milos Sarcev explains why Shaun Clarida should be allowed to compete in both divisions… and why he thinks it’s possible Clarida can beat current Olympia Champion Big Ramy.
Milos Sarcev recently started training Regan Grimes in an attempt to help the promising athlete reach his full potential. He believes that Grimes can do truly fantastic things in the near future. But during his time coaching Grimes, he witnessed former Men’s 212 Olympia champion Shaun Clarida defeat Regan Grimes in a Men’s Open show. While Grimes remains optimistic moving forward and maintains sportsman-like respect for Clarida – the loss was a frustrating blow for the hungry competitor.
But from Milos Sarcev’s viewpoint, this isn’t a devastating loss to a Men’s 212 athlete. In Sarcev’s eyes, Shaun Clarida is such a phenomenal athlete that he transcends divisions. In fact, Sarcev believes that Shaun Clarida can defeat nearly any pro bodybuilder currently competing today. This includes the entire line up of the Men’s Open division – including current Olympia champion Big Ramy.
This might sound unrealistic – but many thought Shaun Clarida competing in the Men’s Open at the Legion Sports Fest Pro was unrealistic as well. Clarida might have be a bit on the extreme side of the shorter bodybuilders, but his conditioning and aesthetic are nearly unmatched. Sarcev believes that if Clarida can learn how to use posing to give the illusion that he’s larger – he can dominate in Men’s Open.
“Shaun Clarida, great champion, yeah of course he can beat anybody,” Milos Sarcev states in our interview. He continues:
“He can beat, you name it, he can beat Big Ramy if judging criteria is gonna go this way. If you are particular about projecting his height, weight, structure, and then, you know, what would he look like if he was six feet tall.”
Milos Sarcev goes on to explain it’s this exact kind of posing training that he is also employing with Regan Grimes. He felt that Grimes did not have enough time to build up size needed for upcoming shows – so he focused also on training him on how to appear bigger and focus on his strong points. For Grimes it’s his conditioning and symmetry.
Milos Sarcev sees the same kind of spectacular strengths in Shaun Clarida. In fact, as stated above, Sarcev sees Clarida to have one of the best physiques in bodybuilding. If he was able to learn how to further manipulate his size – and if the judges even slightly lean towards that direction (as they did in 2018 when Shawn Rhoden won the Mr. Olympia), Sarcev thinks that Clarida could take down someone like Big Ramy.
Sarcev goes on later in our interview to share his thoughts on competing in two divisions at the Mr. Olympia. Sarcev believes that Shaun Clarida should be 100% allowed to do both Men’s 212 and Men’s Open. He qualified for both. This means he earned both. It’s not an easy thing to do. If Clarida earned qualification – Milos Sarcev strongly believes that nothing should stop him from competing in both. With the two events on two separate days, he even finds the idea physically possible to successfully achieve.
You can watch Milos Sarcev’s full comments on Shaun Clarida and the Olympia divisions in our latest GI Exclusive interview segment above.

Regan Grimes Speaks On Aggressive Level Of Training At Oxygen Gym
Regan Grimes admits he had to make up a lie in order to leave.
Regan Grimes is continuing to improve and build an incredible physique that is ready for major competitions. Grimes decided to switch trainers after a disappointing finish at the Olympia this year and it seemed to work immediately. He earned qualification to the 2022 Olympia after picking up a victory at the KO Pro Egypt.
To build a championship physique, there is a lot of hard work and dedication that has to be put in. Grimes decided to take his training to the next level and visit the famous Oxygen Gym in Kuwait. In an interview, Grimes opened up about the overly aggressive training style he was apart of.
Grimes spent about six or seven weeks training at the Oxygen Gym and out on significant weight in a short amount of time. Grimes admitted he did not feel his best and was struggling to keep up with the intensity of the workouts.
“Abdullah (Alotaibi) would be like ‘See ya downstairs at 12 o’clock,’ and then we would get started. Two guys would load the plates up and the weights, and he would be guiding. It was quite the system, it was crazy,” Grimes said.
“I was there, honestly for a total of six, seven weeks. I did put on, oh man, I think I went out there like 260, and I had almost hit 300lb. Like, it was fast, fast… I felt awful. I felt horrible. It was just overly aggressive in every aspect. I mean, we were training twice some days. Literally, I would be in my bed with meals around me, like I was eating nonstop around the clock.”
Not only was Kuwait not the right environment for Grimes, but it was not ideal for his significant other as well. Grimes explained that she joined him on the trip but left after just a few days. The conservative environment in Kuwait parlayed with Grimes’ training schedule did not make for a great trip.
Grimes’ partner was not the only one who left early. The bodybuilder decided to cut the trip short after about a month and a half. He admitted that to do so, Grimes had to make up a lie as to why he had to leave because the trainers were unhappy about the decision.
“They were very mad (about me leaving). I actually said that I was going to go home for Christmas. I had to use an excuse, they weren’t going to let me go home, I don’t think. I can’t say they weren’t going to let me, but they would’ve done everything in my power to convince me not to go, so I was like ‘I gotta go home, I’ve never missed a Christmas with my family.”
Regan Grimes is not the first person to speak out about this level of intensity from the Oxygen Gym. While the regimen was not for Grimes, there are others that have gone and enjoyed the level of workout and results. This is not a system that might be for everyone but the results do not lie.

Regan Grimes Gives Physique Update Ahead Of 2021 Olympia
Regan Grimes is looking massive as we approach the biggest competition of the year.
Regan Grimes made the transition from Classic Physique to Men’s Open and has been an intriguing competitor ever since. He has not been able to make a huge impact just yet but that could change as we approach the 2021 Olympia.
Grimes has always had an incredible physique but he seemed to be a bit undersized for Men’s Open. That could be changing and Grimes is not shy about showing off his progress. The Canadian bodybuilder recently showed his recent progress ahead of the biggest competition of the year.
“ITS A HIGH DAY!▪️30 Mins Fasted CardioMeal 12 Whole Eggs + 5oz Chicken130g Oatmeal + 1 Cup BlueberriesMeal 2 [ Pre-Workout ]6oz Chicken + 400g Rice + Banana–Finishing up my Hamstring & Glute workout thought I would hit some poses and see how we are looking!”

Grimes has four top-three finishes since joining Men’s Open. This includes a win at the 2020 Romania Muscle Fest Pro. This is one of the reasons that Grimes has been a dark-horse prospect since coming to Men’s Open.

Regan Grimes Shows Increased Size 9 Weeks Out From Olympia
Regan Grimes reveals his physique weeks out from the Olympia.
Regan Grimes looks to be ready to take the Olympia stage. The budding bodybuilding prospect has revealed his physique 9 weeks out from the 2021 show. From the looks of things, Grimes is ready to contend with some of the best of the world. But how up to date are these progress pics?
It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Regan Grimes step on stage. The bodybuilding prospect was able to qualify for the 2021 Olympia back in 2020. Since then Grimes has been diligently working on his physique behind the scenes. While he may have earned his spot at the 2021 show, Grimes still had a ways to go if he wants to contend with bodybuilders at the top of the division.
This off season appears to have paid off for Regan Grimes as he sets himself up to potentially break the top 10 in the division. Grimes posted a collage of several photos on his Instagram page. In the caption the budding prospect implied that the progress pics are of himself 9 weeks out from the Olympia.
Bigger Than Last Time! 9 Weeks Out
From the look of things it appears that Regan Grimes has been taking care of his biggest drawback. The biggest weakness for Grimes since making his return to the Men’s Open Bodybuilding division is his lack of size.
In order to compete against the best bodybuilders in the world Regan Grimes needed to pack on some muscle. From the looks of things, Grimes has achieved his goal. With 9 weeks until the Olympia, you can bet Grimes will continue to pack on the muscle in hopes of making himself a major threat. We must also consider the fact that these progress pics could have been taken at any point during his off season. It’s the new trend to post older pics in hopes of throwing off the competition come showtime. For now we’ll just have to assume this is the most up to date version of Regan Grimes.

Regan’s main goal while working out is getting as much blood flowing to his muscles as much as possible.
His favorite thing about training is ‘the pump’. The pump is warming up to get your blood flowing and to get your joints ready for heavy sets. Proceed to heavy compound exercises to work on your strength and hypertrophy will ensure serious growth.
