74-YO Rudy Kadlub Makes Easy Work Of a 441-lb Squat Three-Rep PR
Rudy Kadlub is one of the most respected athletes in the powerlifting scene, both due to his feats of strength as well as how dedicated he is to the sport. Rudy, at the age of 74, stands as one of the older athletes participating in professional competitions. However, judging by the fact that he is frequently improving, it looks like Rudy is aging like fine wine. Most recently, Rudy set a new three-rep squat PR by lifting 441 pounds (200 kilograms) in training.
Rudy Kadlub did not perform the squat in a raw manner, since he utilized knee wraps to aid him in the lift. However, powerlifting has a division dedicated to performing squats with knee wraps. So, it does not take away from how impressive Rudy’s lift was.
Usually people struggle to set a new PR, but Rudy Kadlub made easy work of his 441-pound (200-kilogram) three-rep personal record. All three repetitions looked extremely easy, which gives hope that Rudy will put up a sensational performance in his next appearance.

As Rudy Kadlub states, his recent 441-pound (200-kilogram) three rep squat was just 11 pounds (5 kilograms) lighter than his current World Record Squat. In addition, he revealed that he will compete at the 2023 USPA Nationals, which will take place on July 10-14, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ever since he turned 74-years-old, Rudy Kadlub has been setting PRs in almost all events. As per tradition, he performed heavy deadlift training for his birthday. It resulted in a two-rep raw deadlift PR of 524 pounds (237.7 pounds), after which Rudy set his sights on the 2023 USPA Nationals. So, with some new PRs under his belt, Rudy is hoping to put up his greatest performance yet.
Rudy Kadlub has been competing for 17 years during which he took part in 40 sanctioned competitions. In addition, he won 34 competitions and set countless records, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest to ever compete in the sport.

Analyze Lifts
The only department in which Rudy Kadlub is slightly underperforming is the bench press and that is only because he has not yet healed properly from an injury. However, he is obviously making it up on the deadlifts and squats, as he continues setting PRs with ease. Rudy will become even stronger in the three weeks leading up to the 2023 USPA Nationals. So, he will hopefully be in peak shape to set some more World Records.

Rudy Kadlub Lands 524-lb Raw Deadlift Two-Rep PR On His 74th Birthday
Rudy Kadlub’s birthday is a big deal for powerlifting fans all around the world. His celebrations have turned into a cherished tradition for him and everyone eagerly awaits the event. The most exciting part of his birthday festivities is when he performs his customary deadlift. This year he lifted one pound more than the year before. It’s an incredible feat that always leaves everyone impressed and in awe of his strength. Last year, Rudy Kadlub lifted an impressive 523 pounds (237.2 kilograms) for his birthday deadlift. This year, to surpass his record, he lifted 524 pounds (237.7 kilograms) to celebrate his 74th birthday. However, seeing that this represents his one-rep max, no one expected that Rudy would be able to complete two reps. Well, according to his Instagram, Rudy crushed both reps and landed a new two-rep PR as well.
Rudy Kadlub’s 74th birthday was on April 10th, 2023, but he had to postpone the deadlift attempt to April 27th, due to an illness earlier in the month. Despite the setbacks, Rudy was able to come in stronger than ever, surprising everyone in the gym and on Instagram.
Rudy Kadlub only equipped himself with a lifting belt and some chalk before coming up to the barbell. He then slowly found his perfect foot placement for the sumo stance and lifted the 524 pounds (237 kilograms) with ease. However, with multiple members of his team rooting for him, Rudy completed the second repetition under peer pressure.
“For my annual birthday tradition, I pulled 524# this year, 1 pound more than last. This year, the @kabukistrength team peer pressured me into doubling it, so not only is this a raw PR deadlift weight for me, but for 2 reps!”

Rudy Kadlub also stated that he might have to re-do his goals for next year, as it is evident that an increase of just one pound is nothing for him.
“If I can get stronger every year, by the time I am 90, I can do 700 pounds”
Rudy Kadlub already holds numerous Masters World Records in powerlifting, but it is now evident that he will further improve those records in the future. This is especially impressive, seeing that Rudy has been competing for 17 years. During that time, he took part in 40 sanctioned competitions and won 34 of them.
In addition, Rudy Kadlub has contributed to the powerlifting scene in other ways than competing. He is a co-founder of Kabuki Strength, a manufacturer of gym equipment, especially barbells.

73-Year-Old Rudy Kadlub Lands a 455-lb (206.4-kg) Unofficial Masters World Record Squat With Wraps
Despite his age of 73, Rudy Kadlub’s physical abilities remain impressive. Most people who live into their 70s do not devote their lives to sports, but Rudy finds powerlifting to be his source of youth. However, no one could have predicted how successful Rudy would get in his professional powerlifting career. Although he holds many World Records, it seems that more will follow. According to Rudy Kadlub, he recently broke the U100KG Masters (70-74) IPL World Record Squat With Wraps by lifting 455 pounds (206.4 kilograms).The current official World Record is also held by Rudy Kadlub, as he squatted 451.9 pounds (205 kilograms) at the 2021 IPL Drug Tested World Championship.A previous shoulder injury prevented Rudy Kadlub from doing squats for a while. It appears Rudy has recovered from this injury, as evidenced by his recent feat of strength.“455–3lbs over my WR. First time under the @kabukistrength Squat Bar in this training block. In addition, since he is squatting over the World Record already, Rudy is expected to completely demolish it during the competition. He just needs to ease his way into the competition, which would allow him to perform at his maximum. This should not pose a problem to Rudy, since he has previously completed this process numerous times.
Rudy Kadlub Sets Unofficial World Record With 523-Pound Deadlift On 73rd Birthday
Rudy Kadlub continues to be an elite powerlifter even at age 73.
Another year, another birthday that saw a huge lift for Rudy Kadlub. This time, the powerlifter decided to take on a huge 523-pound deadlift on his 73rd birthday. After pulling the weight, Kadlub set an unofficial deadlift world record, which he already holds in the Masters 70-74 division.
Kadlub positioned himself in a sumo stance before gabbing the bar with a mixed grip. He only used a lifting belt during the lift, which went up with ease. On his 72nd birthday last year, Kadlub completed a 520-pound deadlift. He decided to take it up a notch this time around.
“?? A great birthday session in the @kabukistrength Lab yesterday with a 523 pound heavy single in celebration of turning 73. Coach @brandon_senn was there to oversee this heavier session, and I’d say we chose a good number–anyone catch the significance of the number 5️⃣2️⃣3️⃣ and this particular birthday?”
Rudy Kadlub already holds the world record of 518 pounds in the U110 Masters 70-74 division. This lift is considered to be an unofficial world record and Kadlub could look to make it official during his next competition. As of now, Kadlub is planning to compete at the USPA Drug Tested National Championships on May 27-31 in Atlanta.
Kadlub has not been powerlifting his entire life. He began competing at 57 years old but found success quickly. Kadlub’s first competition came in 2006 and he has been featured in 37 since. Of those 37 competitions, Kadlub has 31 victories and is currently on a 22-event win streak.
Rudy Kadlub is scheduled to appear at the Drug Tested National Championships in May and this is an event where he has three victories. Following his birthday lift, Kadlub went in to celebrate.
