Sonita Muluh (+84KG) Scores 285.5-kg (629.4-lb) Raw Squat All-Time World Record at 2023 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships
The 2023 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships took place from June 11-18, in Valletta, Malta. Lasting for an entire week, this competition saw a couple World Records fall each day. So, as the final day rolled around, everyone hoped that it would bring something amazing to wrap up the competition. While the expectation was that Jesus Olivares or Bonica Brown would be the most exciting lifters, Sonita Muluh was the one who put up the most notable performance. This is because she squatted 285.5 kilograms (629.4 pounds) for the +84-kilogram weight class All-Time World Record.
Sonita Muluh opened up her squat session with a 260-kilogram (573.2-pound) lift, which obviously went up like nothing was on the bar. So, she moved up to 277.5 kilograms (611.8 pounds) for her second attempt. Once she succeeded, Sonita decided that her third squat attempt would be over the All-Time World Record. However, she even made 285.5 kilograms (629.4 pounds) look easy, despite the fact that no one has squatted as much weight before her.
The previous All-Time World Record holder was Bonica Brown, who squatted 280 kilograms (617.3 pounds) at the 2023 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships.

Sonita Muluh ended up taking second place at the 2023 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships. The only woman who managed to land a heavier Total than Sonita was Brittany Schlater of Canada. However, it was a tight battle and one in which Sonita Muluh had the chance to win.
Sonita Muluh was leading the +84-kilogram weight class at one point of the competition and even had the chance to win the competition with her final deadlift attempt of 267.5 kilograms (589.7 pounds). She gave it her all, pulling the weight up from the floor, but could not lock it out despite persistent efforts.
2023 IPF World Championships — +84KG Podium
Brittany Schlater (CAN) — 693.5 kilograms (1,528.9 pounds)
Sonita Muluh (BEL) — 688.5 kilograms (1,517.9 pounds)
Jewel Tasi (NZL) — 647.5 kilograms (1,427.5 pounds)
The last year’s champion, Bonica Brown, was also present at the 2023 IPF World Championships, and even put up a heavier squat than Sonita Muluh. Bonica managed to squat 289 kilograms (637.1 pounds) on her third attempt. However, she was not successful in any of her three deadlift attempts, which made her “bomb out”. This means that her score in all events was completely invalid since she did not successfully perform at least one of her three deadlift attempts.
Furthermore, although Bonica Brown squatted more weight than Sonita Muluh, the “bomb out” made her World Record invalid as well. This rule has been specified in the IPF Rulebook for 2023.
“Records on individual lifts must be accompanied by a total of the three lifts.”

This was Sonita Muluh’s second appearance at the IPF World Championships and a massive improvement from her fifth place finish back in 2021. She has taken part in some other competitions as well, with her standout result being a victory at the 2022 EPF European Classic Powerlifting Championships. Overall, Sonita has taken part in 13 sanctioned competitions and won nine of them.
Just two years ago, Sonita Muluh was nowhere near the All-Time Squat World Record, as her competition PR at that time was 200 kilograms (440.9 pounds). However, in just two years, Sonita made an improvement of 85.5 kilograms (188.5 pounds) in the squat and advanced her other PRs as well. So, she is now in possession of the Heaviest Squat in the history of Women’s Raw Powerlifting. Furthermore, if she keeps improving the way she has in the past two years, there won’t be anyone capable of matching her in the future.

74-YO Rudy Kadlub Makes Easy Work Of a 441-lb Squat Three-Rep PR
Rudy Kadlub is one of the most respected athletes in the powerlifting scene, both due to his feats of strength as well as how dedicated he is to the sport. Rudy, at the age of 74, stands as one of the older athletes participating in professional competitions. However, judging by the fact that he is frequently improving, it looks like Rudy is aging like fine wine. Most recently, Rudy set a new three-rep squat PR by lifting 441 pounds (200 kilograms) in training.
Rudy Kadlub did not perform the squat in a raw manner, since he utilized knee wraps to aid him in the lift. However, powerlifting has a division dedicated to performing squats with knee wraps. So, it does not take away from how impressive Rudy’s lift was.
Usually people struggle to set a new PR, but Rudy Kadlub made easy work of his 441-pound (200-kilogram) three-rep personal record. All three repetitions looked extremely easy, which gives hope that Rudy will put up a sensational performance in his next appearance.

As Rudy Kadlub states, his recent 441-pound (200-kilogram) three rep squat was just 11 pounds (5 kilograms) lighter than his current World Record Squat. In addition, he revealed that he will compete at the 2023 USPA Nationals, which will take place on July 10-14, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Just 11lbs under my current WR. 3.5 weeks out from USPA Nationals”
Ever since he turned 74-years-old, Rudy Kadlub has been setting PRs in almost all events. As per tradition, he performed heavy deadlift training for his birthday. It resulted in a two-rep raw deadlift PR of 524 pounds (237.7 pounds), after which Rudy set his sights on the 2023 USPA Nationals. So, with some new PRs under his belt, Rudy is hoping to put up his greatest performance yet.
Rudy Kadlub has been competing for 17 years during which he took part in 40 sanctioned competitions. In addition, he won 34 competitions and set countless records, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest to ever compete in the sport.

The only department in which Rudy Kadlub is slightly underperforming is the bench press and that is only because he has not yet healed properly from an injury. However, he is obviously making it up on the deadlifts and squats, as he continues setting PRs with ease. Rudy will become even stronger in the three weeks leading up to the 2023 USPA Nationals. So, he will hopefully be in peak shape to set some more World Records.

Amanda Lawrence (84KG) Cracks 249-kg (549-lb) Squat World Record at 2023 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships
The 2023 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships are nearing their conclusion, with just one more day of thrilling action remaining. However, the biggest powerlifting competition in the world could not have gone by without an incredible display of Amanda Lawrence. Representing the USA, Amanda has been crowned as the World Champion three times before. So, coming into the competition as the biggest favorite, Amanda Lawrence did not disappoint, claiming her fourth IPF World Championships Title and setting an U84KG Raw Squat World Record of 249 kilograms (549 pounds).
Being the queen of the 84-kilogram weight class, Amanda Lawrence also held the previous raw squat World Record of 246.5 kilograms (543.4 pounds). She set that record just a couple of months ago at the 2023 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships. Despite not having much time passing since then, Amanda has made significant progress.

Amanda Lawrence’s Full Performance
Amanda Lawrence was one of 19 athletes competing in the 84-kilogram weight class, but no one managed to even get close to her. Lawrence ended the competition with a 636.5-kilogram (1,403.2 pounds) Total, while her closest rival had a Total of 565 kilograms (1,245.6 pounds). So, Amanda and the second place finisher in her weight class were divided by a massive 71.5 kilograms (157.6 pounds).
Amanda Lawrence was also hoping to set a new IPF Total World Record, as her final deadlift could have pushed her over the 645-kilogram (1,422-pound) mark. However, Amanda was unsuccessful in her third deadlift attempt, as the barbell slipped out of her hands.
In addition, if she had set a new World Record Total, Amanda Lawrence would have taken the top spot in the women’s division overall, which is amongst all weight classes. However, seeing as Amanda was not successful, Natalie Richards remains in the lead.

Prescillia Bavoil (69KG) Sets Raw Squat & Total World Records at 2023 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships
Prescillia Bavoil experienced massive disappointment in 2022 when she was not allowed to compete at the IPF Worlds due to exceeding the limit for her weight class. However, she utilized the nagging feeling to prepare for the 2023 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships, which are taking place on June 11-18, in Valletta, Malta. So, having had an entire year to prepare, Prescillia came into the competition as ready as she could be. Consequently, she emerged victorious in the 69-kilogram weight class while also setting a new raw Squat and Total IPF World Records.
Wearing nothing but a lifting belt and knee sleeves, Prescillia Bavoil made easy work of 211.5 kilograms (466.3 pounds) to set a new Squat IPF World Record. She broke the previous record by 0.5 kilograms (1.1 pounds). Interestingly Bavoil also held the old record, having set it at the 2023 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships.
Presicillia Bavoil seemed very comfortable while performing the 211.5-kilogram (466.3-pound) squat. She did not get stuck at any point of the lift, even starting to smile before locking out the massive weight.
Watch the squat here:

Prescillia Bavoil’s Full Performance
Prescillia Bavoil did not want to take any chances with her bodyweight, so she weighed in significantly below the U69KG limit at just 65.25 kilograms (143.9 pounds). She almost had a perfect performance, going eight for nine on the attempts, missing only her final deadlift. However, if Bavoil managed to complete her final deadlift, she would have broken the World Record in that event as well.

Apart from the squat, Prescillia Bavoil also set a new raw Total IPF World Record of 549 kilograms (1,210.3 pounds). The previous record was 548.5 kilograms (1,209.2 pounds), which she also set at the 2023 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships.

Prescillia Bavoil has been competing in powerlifting for eight years now, and she has taken part in 25 sanctioned competitions. Impressively, she has won 22 competitions, including two IPF World Championships, two EPF European Championships, and many other prestigious meets.
Prescillia Bavoil looked incredible in the 2023 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships and it seemed like no one was capable of matching her efforts. She dominated the 69-kilogram weight class with ease, but more importantly, she further improved her own World Record as well. Therefore, Bavoil has once again earned the title of World Champion, while also qualifying for the second edition of the IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships, which will take place in 2024.

Powerlifter Jesus Olivares Smashes 435-kg (960-lb) Raw Squat Two-Rep PR In Training
The biggest hype in powerlifting is currently revolving around Jesus Olivares, as he is the reigning 2x IPF World Champion and will try to defend his title in just one week from now. So, everyone is unsurprisingly eager to find out how prepared Jesus is for the 2023 IPF World Championships. On his Instagram page, he often shares updates, and the most recent one showed him setting a new record. This PR turned out to be a humongous 435-kilogram (960-pound) two-rep squat.
Jesus Olivares believes that strength is determined by how much weight a person can lift with as little equipment support as possible. So, he completed the 435-kilogram (960-pound) two-rep squat in a raw manner, utilizing only a lifting belt and knee sleeves to aid him in the lift.
Jesus Olivares did not have too much trouble locking out either of the reps with 435 kilograms (960 pounds), especially considering just how heavy the squat was. In addition, Jesus captioned the video with “Still Hungry“, hinting that he still wants to lift even heavier.
Watch the lift here:
Related: Powerlifter Jesus Olivares Sets New Deadlift & Total IPF World Records At 2023 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships
Jesus Olivares recently took part in the 2023 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships where he displayed his greatest shape yet. He set two new IPF World Records in the Deadlift and Total events. However, he is now attempting to break the Squat World Record as well. The current record is held by Ray Williams who locked out 490 kilograms (1,080.3 pounds). On the other hand, Jesus’ heaviest squat in a competition came out to 470 kilograms (1,036.1 pounds). So, having now improved his two-rep PR, it is clear that he is capable of squatting more in his one rep max.
During Jesus’ Olivares’ career so far he has taken part in 20 sanctioned powerlifting competitions and won 11 of them. In addition, he earned the title of the strongest raw powerlifter in the world, all while being natural contrary to many other athletes who use PEDs.

Although it would seem logical that Shelly Stettner has devoted her life to powerlifting in order to reach this stage, she has actually only been competing professionally for a couple of years now. Her debut was back in October of 2019 and she has since taken part in 10 competitions overall. Boasting a perfect 100% win rate, Shelly is most proud of her victory at the 2022 IPF World Masters Classic & Equipped Powerlifting Championships.
Shelly Stettner hasn’t yet revealed what the next goal on her list is, but she will most likely turn her sights toward the 2023 IPF Masters Worlds. She has a title to defend there which should serve as enough motivation to continue training with full force.

Powerlifter Austin Perkins (75KG) Sets a 305-kg (672.4-lb) Raw Squat All-Time World Record
Guess who’s back and stronger than ever? It’s none other than Austin Perkins. Known for his incredible powerlifting prowess, Austin faced a setback in 2020 when he underwent surgery for a hernia. Since then, his progress has slowed down. But now, he’s making a remarkable comeback, defying all odds and showcasing his enhanced strength. Get ready to witness Austin Perkins unleash his powerlifting prowess once again. In his recent appearance at the 2023 USAPL P3 Grand Prix in Dallas, Texas, proved to be his greatest performance yet. He competed in the raw 75-kilogram weight class and set a new All-Time Squat World Record of 305 kilograms (672.4 pounds).
Having competed in the raw division, Austin Perkins was only allowed to utilize a lifting belt and knee sleeves for his squat. However, these supportive pieces of equipment were enough for him to set a new All-Time World Record.
Austin Perkins weighed in at 73.9 kilograms (162.9 pounds) for the 2023 USAPal P3 Grand Prix. In addition, apart from setting a new Squat World Record, Austin also set new competition PRs in every event. So, it was evidently a very successful outing for him.
The previous Raw Squat All-Time World Record was held by the legendary Taylor Atwood, who lifted 303 kilograms (668 pounds) at the 2021 USAPL Raw Nationals.

54-YO Nick Best Sinks a 771-lb (349.7-kg) Squat With Knee Wraps In Training
There are not many athletes in the Strongman community who are more famous than Nick Best. Moreover, he is arguably the most impressive man in modern Strongman history, as he has been defying the aging process for years now. Even after more than a decade of pressuring his body with massive weights, Nick still continues to push his limits. So, most recently, he challenged himself with a 771-pound (349.7-kilogram) squat and successfully completed it.
Nick Best made his way to the “Dragon’s Lair Gym” in Las Vegas, which is owned by 7x 212 Mr. Olympia Flex Lewis. He then geared up for the 771-pound (349.7-kilogram) squat by putting on a pair of knee wraps, a lifting belt, and some wrist wraps. The only thing left to do was find some spotters before attempting the lift. Luckily for Nick, the All-Time Squat World Record holder, Joe Sullivan, was present to assist him alongside two other men.
Nick Best slowly dipped down with 771 pounds (349.7 kilograms) on his back, but quickly ascended back up. After re-racking the weight back, Nick excitedly stated:
“That was easy. That was kind of crazy.”

Nick Best also performed his first heavy deadlift single in training which came out to 675 pounds (306.2 kilograms). While it wasn’t his heaviest deadlift, Nick expects to be back to pulling 800 pounds (362.9 kilograms) soon.
Nick Best is currently in the process of coming back from nephrectomy. This is a process of removing a kidney due to a tumor. Nick had undergone the surgery back in January, but things are just now starting to fall back in place. Interestingly, he recently revealed that the kidney tumor was found accidentally, as he originally went to the hospital due to a bench press incident.
Nick Best retired from Strongman competitions in 2022, but still left the door open for a few more powerlifting appearances. Consequently, this is why his focus has shifted towards powerlifting events and why a 771-pound (349.7-kilogram) squat seems effortless to him.
Nick Best, known for his remarkable strength, recently made headlines with his incredible 771-pound (349.7-kilogram) squat. However, it’s not just his squats that amaze people; he frequently showcases astonishing deadlift feats as well. For example, during the 2022 Mr. Olympia Expo, Nick loaded 600 pounds (272.2 kilograms) onto the bar and crushed 15 repetitions.
As a Strongman, Nick Best took part in 41 International and National competitions and came out victorious three times. However, he was admired by everyone due to his resilience and impressive stationary strength.
Nick Best’s powerlifting career is nothing short of incredible as well. He took part in 33 sanctioned competitions and won 20 of them. Furthermore, he set two Masters World Records in his most recent appearance at the 2022 WRPF FQ Classic 2.

Analyze Lifts
It is nice to see that Nick Best is almost back to his best form after his kidney surgery just a few months ago. He is already putting up humongous lifts in training and setting new goals for the future. So, it is just a matter of time until he enters another powerlifting competition and sets some more World Records.

List of All-Time Powerlifting World Records In Raw & Equipped Divisions
Throughout history, there has always been a fascination and sense of satisfaction in witnessing people demonstrate their incredible strength. However, it was during the 1950s that the sport of powerlifting truly took off and captured the attention of enthusiasts worldwide. Since then, powerlifting has become increasingly popular and is currently enjoying its highest level of recognition and interest. So, we decided to make a list of every All-Time World Record in raw and equipped divisions.
Powerlifting consists of dozens of federations who host their own competitions and have their own records. On the other hand, the phrase “All-Time World Record” has a specific meaning when it comes to powerlifting records. It stands for the most weight that has ever been lifted successfully in a competition that was sanctioned by any international federation. This indicates that the record is acknowledged on a global scale and is not restricted to a particular organization or area.
There are four events in which an athlete can set an All-Time World Record, and those are the Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift, and Total. In addition, there are raw and equipped divisions, as well as multiple weight classes.
“Raw” powerlifting competitions typically allow athletes to wear lifting belts, singlets, wrist wraps, knee sleeves, and chalk. On the other hand, equipped powerlifting allows the use of pieces of equipment which have a much more significant impact on the weight of the lifts. Examples of “equipped” powerlifting are bench press shirts, squat suits, knee wraps, and more.
Raw Squat — Men
Ray Williams is the man who set the mark to beat on the raw squats, as he holds the All-Time World Record of 490 kilograms (1,080 pounds). He set this record at the 2019 USAPL Arnold SBD Pro American. While Ray set the record for his +140-kilogram weight class, it is also the heaviest raw squat across all 12 weight classes.

Powerlifter Pablo Olivares Sets 400-kg (881.8 lb) Raw Squat PR In Training
One of the most popular athletes in powerlifting currently is Jesus Olivares, but what many don’t know is that he has a younger, but almost equally impressive brother, Pablo Olivares. Pablo is 23-years-old and resembles his brother quite a bit. Like Jesus, Pablo possesses incredible squat strength and he has just reached a massive milestone. During his recent training session, Pablo worked up to a 400-kilogram (881.8-pound) squat, which is a new personal record (PR) for him. He caught the achievement on camera and shared it on his Instagram.
Pablo Olivares only used a lifting belt, knee sleeves, and wrist wraps. All of these are utilized to prevent injuries without affecting the lifting abilities in any significant way. So, Pablo’s new 400-kilogram (881.8-pound) PR is also raw.
Pablo Olivares exhibited no signs of struggle during the lift, making the new PR appear effortless. Moreover, he was very proud of his achievement, so he couldn’t contain his excitement. He let out a few loud screams and spat out his mouth guard.

Pablo Olivares impressed quite a few people with his new 400-kilogram (881.8-pound) squat PR, including two powerlifting World Record holders. First of the two was his brother, Jesus Olivares, who stood behind Pablo as a spotter. Despite his adoration for his brother, his reaction shows he was awed by his strength as well.
The other World Record holder who was impressed by Pablo Olivares was Ashton Rouska. Ashton is particularly known for his squat prowess, so a compliment from him goes a long way. He left a comment under Pablo’s post, saying:
“Too damn easy!!”
Pablo Olivares replied to Ashton explaining how his next goal is squatting 410 kilograms (903 pounds).
Pablo Olivares’ Powerlifting Career
Pablo Olivares has been competing in powerlifting since 2015 when he was just 15-years-old. In addition, during these eight years of competing, Pablo has consistently improved. If this trend continues in the next one or two years, then he will become a Squat World Record contender.
Overall, Pablo Olivares has taken part in 12 sanctioned competitions and won just four of them. However, all of his wins have come in the past two years, which proves that he is just now fulfilling his potential.
