William Bonac: ‘Hadi Choopan Will Repeat as 2023 Mr. Olympia, He’s Going to Take Another Title’

William Bonac: ‘Hadi Choopan Will Repeat as 2023 Mr. Olympia, He’s Going to Take Another Title’

William Bonac continues to deliver as a Men’s Open bodybuilder, competing twice in four months. In a recent The Menace Podcast, Bonac predicted Hadi Choopan would win 2023 Mr. Olympia and discussed what measures Nick Walker needs to take to become champion.
The Men’s Open division has endured major changes since 2022 Mr. Olympia. Hadi Choopan won his first title after outlasting a slew of threats in prejudging and the finals. Shockingly, Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay was unable to retain his throne in fifth whereas Derek Lunsford and Walker found themselves in second and third. Bonac, however, finished ninth, respectively.
At the 2023 Arnold Classic, Bonac redeemed himself with an impressive package, showcasing a blend of fullness and conditioning. While Bonac hoped to secure his third title in Columbus, Ohio, the veteran settled for seventh, proving himself against a lineup that saw Samson Dauda come out on top.

In light of his last two performances, Bonac suspended his current season. He set his sights on 2024 and plans to focus on rest and recovery. Looking ahead, ‘The Conquorer’ said his next show would likely be the Arnold Classic. Refusing to dismiss his Olympia ambitions, Bonac stated if he ‘brings his all,’ he could still retire with a Sandow trophy in the next two years.
In his latest endeavor, Bonac laid out who he believes might win the 2023 Mr. Olympia contest, scheduled for November 2-5, in Orlando Florida. Additionally, Bonac touched on what improvements Walker needs to make to reach the next level in his career.
William Bonac Says League ‘Going Away from Mass Monsters,’ Expects Hadi Choopan to ‘Repeat’ as 2023 Mr. Olympia
According to William Bonac, he’s ‘sure’ Hadi Choopan will win another title and believes he can definitely repeat at 2023 Mr. Olympia.
“I think definitely Hadi can repeat it, definitely. I think as you see… a lot of 212 guys are doing very good in the Open class. That’s something that I’ve noticed. They’re extremely good, maybe because they don’t look as big as Big Ramy, those mass monsters. I think they’re trying to go away from that. Not to say they are little guys, you understand. I also see that they are rewarding the taller guys. The few taller guys we have with beautiful aesthetics. That’s a good thing as well. No bloated guts you know, that’s what I see,” said William Bonac.
“We’ve seen him [Hadi Choopan] on the stage and he’s ripped to pieces. How are you guys backstage, you see more than we do. When you see Hadi, he is next level right?” asks Sarcev.

“He’s next level. Even with the pump up, when you stop pumping up, then he will come alive. The more he pumps up the freakier he gets. So, you know, I think honestly… last year or the year before the Olympia that he didn’t win — he looked way better. If he came even with that shape even now, that wasn’t even his best shape and he won it. So, I’m sure he’s going to take another title. If he brings the condition that he brought the year before, yeah,” Bonac shared.
Can Brandon Curry Regain the Mr. Olympia Title? Bonac Says ‘I Don’t Think So.’

Bonac believes his rival Brandon Curry will struggle to regain his Mr. Olympia title because he loses size in his legs when he shreds down before a contest.
“Brandon [Curry] is my dude man. I hope so [he takes another title]. I hope he can fight for the title like the direction that they are going — I think – I don’t think so,” Bonac added. “No because if he does that, he will lose the size then he doesn’t look so impressive. They have to play the size game a little bit because when he dials in too much, he will lose the size of his legs again.”
Bonac Says Nick Walker Needs Improved Quad Sweeps to Contend for 2023 Mr. Olympia Title

Milos Sarcev, Dennis James, and William Bonac agree that Walker needs more outer quad sweep for 2023 Olympia.
“Bigger legs, bigger chest, and I think his chest improved dramatically already,” said Sarcev.
“It’s just the legs, the sweep of the legs,” clarified Bonac.
“That quad sweep, that could be a genetic thing. I’m sure it’s not because he’s not working hard enough or he’s not doing what he’s supposed to,” Dennis James said.
Chris Cormier and Bonac also shared that Walker would benefit from some posing adjustments.
“From the side, he looks good, from the back he looks good, it’s just from the front or maybe maybe the way he stands on his legs, maybe he should turn it more like Brandon does, so you get more of the inner thighs [in the abdominals and thighs pose].”
“I would try to utilize my legs differently in those poses. The way he’s doing them is not helping him right now,” Chris Cormier explained.
Before confirming his one-year hiatus from the sport, questions about Bonac’s retirement circulated online. Bob Cicherillo, who serves as the announcer of the Arnold Classic and Mr. Olympia shows, said he would like to see Bonac receive a special invite for 2024 Mr. Olympia so he could retire on top.
As for Nick Walker, he recently argued that Choopan wouldn’t be able to successfully defend his title later this year. He believes the 2023 Olympia winner will be determined following a battle between himself and former 212 Olympia Derek Lunsford.

Bob Cicherillo Wants William Bonac to Retire on Olympia Stage & Explains Samson Dauda’s Rise to the Top

Bob Cicherillo Wants William Bonac to Retire on Olympia Stage & Explains Samson Dauda’s Rise to the Top

IFBB Pro League athletes’ representative Bob Cicherillo often lends his voice to educating bodybuilding fans on the judging of events and more. In a recent interview with Desktop Bodybuilding, Cicherillo talked about William Bonac’s exit plan from the sport and shared his thoughts on the rise of Samson Dauda. Bodybuilding veteran William Bonac has been…

William Bonac: ‘If Give It My All, Then I Have the Possibility to Win Mr. Olympia’

William Bonac: ‘If Give It My All, Then I Have the Possibility to Win Mr. Olympia’

William Bonac hasn’t given up hope on securing a Mr. Olympia title before calling it a career. In a recent interview with Desktop Bodybuilding, Bonac brushed off retirement rumors and said he’s taking the year to come back better than ever in 2024.
As a Men’s Open pro, William Bonac has participated at the highest level for over a decade. His thick compact muscle density and work ethic were vital components to his rise as a pro. Bonac is a two-time winner of the prestigious Arnold Classic, winning gold in 2018 and 2020. While proving himself as an elite talent, Bonac narrowly missed out on winning Mr. Olympia to Brandon Curry in 2019.

Last year (2022), ‘The Conqueror’ was unable to exact revenge against Curry at the Arnold Classic and finished second. The outcome was controversial and many pros like Lee Priest thought Bonac brought the winning package. Despite the setback, Bonac returned a week later to win gold at the Boston Pro, guaranteeing his passage to the Mr. Olympia show.
He went into Las Vegas’ 2022 Olympia as a notable favorite but failed to make the first call-out. Bonac finished ninth and his teammate, Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay, also came up short in fifth, which served as one of the biggest shocks of the night. Bonac attempted the latest Arnold Classic as well but finished seventh.
William Bonac Says He Can Still Win Arnold Classics and Mr. Olympias
During the video, Bonac said he was still in the running to win Arnold Classics and Mr. Olympias as long as he takes a year off to let his body recover.

“I do for sure [think] I can win the Arnold Classic; the possibility is still there. To win the Olympia… I don’t know man, where the judges are going with the kind of physiques that they want for that. But I think if I give it my all, like the next two years, then I might have the possibility to win the Olympia. Right now, it’s just taking time off, you know, let my body recover.”

“When you compete and compete and compete, your body adjusts to the system to your supplementation and diet, so it won’t react as it normally would be. Your receptors – everything would be sensitive. So I need to get rid of that. Once I have that and that’s what I’m doing now, so I’ll need a whole year off. Once I have that, then I can come back again and everything will feel fresh, my body will feel fresh because that’s what I did in 2022 as well at the Arnold Classic.”
According to Bonac, his ninth and seventh-place finishes at the Olympia and Arnold Classic were justified. He added that the judges made the correct decision and said the outcome could have been worse.
“It was the right decision. When I look back at the pictures, I was like I look shit. You know, so yeah, you can even say you have to be happy with your placing and what you got – it could have been worse. I looked like shit. At the Arnold, I looked better. Did I deserve my placings? Yeah. The judges put me there for a reason. I’m not a guy to complain about his placings. Of course, in the past, I had some issues.”
“I’ve grown, I understand the game. So, I don’t complain when I win, I’m happy when I win, so why should I complain when I lose some? It’s a big pie, everyone can have some of it,” added Bonac. “I know what I saw, and I was like [no], people told me I should have placed higher but I’m lucky that I got that place, believe me. It’s not the physique I wanted to represent at the Olympia.”
Bonac on Big Ramy: ‘Its Tough to Be 2x Mr. Olympia & Lose Your Title All in 6 Months’

Bonac sympathizes with Big Ramy since the Egyptian native lost his title after holding the honor for two years.
“To be honest with you, if I did qualify for the Olympia, I would have probably gone to the Olympia as well. For him [Big Ramy] to go, is a good thing as well. I wouldn’t be demotivated because of his placings that he didn’t maybe expect it at the Olympia and then maybe the Arnold. It’s tough you know, to be two-time Mr. Olympia, losing your title and all just in sixth months’ time. Losing your title and placing fifth and then going to the Arnold and not even placing in the top three, it’s kind of tough to be the king and then… you know,” said William Bonac.
“I thought he looked better at the Arnold and I think at the Olympia he didn’t look that bad. We all looked — we all didn’t look perfect. None of use except maybe three guys and those three guys were in the top three, simple as that. I think Big Ramy should maybe have a rest for this time now and start his prep for Olympia and then maybe after Olympia take a rest and go forward again. We are not as young as these guys anymore.”
The last time fans heard from Bonac he discussed his future in the sport. Given the strain his body has been under, he decided to take a year off for the sake of longevity. He believes the time off is exactly what his physique needs following a busy season. Considering how illusive the Olympia title has been for him, Bonac set his sights on another Arnold Classic victory next year.

William Bonac Wants To Enter 2022 Olympia “As Heavy As Possible” To Compete With Big Ramy

William Bonac discussed plan to add weight while sharing his favorite cheat meal.
William Bonac continues to be an elite contender in the Men’s Open division. He is preparing to compete at the 2022 Olympia and plans to add some extra size in order to compete with reigning two-time champion Big Ramy.
Bonac burst onto the scene thanks to his conditioning on stage. His shredded physique earned him second place during the 2019 Olympia and has had great success since then. In 2020, Bonac won the 2020 Arnold Classic and was a top-five finisher at the Olympia that same year. In 2021, Bonac earned sixth at the Olympia. Now, he shared his plan to add some more weight heading into this year’s competition.
Bonac finished as the runner-up during the Arnold Classic this year. Brandon Curry, who defeated Bonac at the Olympia in 2019, was crowned champion. Just one week later, Bonac won the Boston Pro and earned his qualification for the biggest show of the year.

William Bonac Has A Goal To Hit Moving Forward
In a recent video shared on his YouTube channel, William Bonac sat down for his favorite cheat meal and shared his plans to put on some extra size. This, paired with his exceptional conditioning, will help him take a step up come December.
Bonac revealed that his favorite cheat meal is Shawarma. This is a Middle Eastern meal of thin slices of meat slow cooked on a spit. Bonac prefers this meal because it is not too fatty and goes well with bread. He keeps his diet clean and has to force some meals in at times.
Bonac is currently in the midst of his preparation and believes he will hit his weight goals.

“I have the feeling that today I’m going to hit my goal. Because my goal was to hit 120-kg, before we started the prep. So, we already had enough with the offseason prep. Now, my coach wants me to hit 120 kilograms. My weight is up to 118.3 kilograms,” Bonac said.
There are many who believe Big Ramy is going to be difficult to beat if he enters the Olympia shredded at his current size. He has shared his weight different times and is around 330 pounds. This is why William Bonac believes size is going to be the difference.
“The condition is not something that I have a problem with. It’s more the size. Now, I will have the size to be comparable with those beasts on stage, like the region’s champion Big Ramy. It was the only thing that I was missing probably.”
This plan will is to make William Bonac as heavy as possible so he brings his best package to the stage.
“I want to gain extra muscles and try to be as heavy as possible or on stage, so we can’t be denied.”

William Bonac Shows Off Huge Physique He Is Building “Brick By Brick” Heading Into 2022 Olympia

William Bonac Shows Off Huge Physique He Is Building “Brick By Brick” Heading Into 2022 Olympia

William Bonac looks like he has made some significant improvements in his latest physique update.
William Bonac is not one for summer physique updates on social media but he decided to sneak one in recently. He is one of the most-conditioned athletes in bodybuilding and has made even more improvements to his physique in preparation for the 2022 Olympia.
Bonac was able to return to the Arnold Classic stage in 2022 after having issues with his travel last year. He finished second to Brandon Curry but will have another chance at the biggest show of the year. Bonac was able to win the 2022 Boston Pro and punch his ticket to Las Vegas in December.
In Men’s Open, there is a large group of competitors that can finish in the top three or five at this year’s Olympia. Bonac is in that category. In 2021, Bonac was right on the cusp as he finished sixth. This year, Bonac will be looking to bring his best package to the stage.

William Bonac “Leaving No Stones Unturned” This Offseason
William Bonac took to Instagram to share this physique update and his current weight go 260.8 pounds. He is looking extremely shredded at that weight and will certainly take some of it off before hitting the Olympia stage.
“Was not supposed to post my recent pic, but im so excited with the improvements I made in a few months, that I felt like sharing it with my IG family, fans , & supporters.
Went from 105kg to 118,3kg since I started my off-season prep with my coach @thedietdoc & trainingspartner @candrick29
I have 2kg more to go 2 reach our goal!Brick by brick, leaving no stones unturned in December @mrolympiallc 2022?”

Following the 2022 Arnold Classic, there were talks of William Bonac’s Gynecomastia on stage. This, along with some bloating in the midsection, could have cost him the title but Bonac addressed the issues. He vowed to fix them and by the looks of it, he is well on his way.
There are many who believe that this cost Bonac the title and some who are surprised at the fact. Either way, he is building a championship physique in many ways. There is no doubt that William Bonac will be looking to rebound from the 2021 Olympia and Arnold Classic in March. This could be scary for the competition if Bonac comes in at his very best.

William Bonac Will Commit to Improving Abs And Gyno Heading Into Olympia

William Bonac shared this message following his victory in the Boston Pro.
William Bonac has been busy over the last two weeks. After a second-place finish at the 2022 Arnold Classic, Bonac quickly returned to stage on Saturday. Following his victory at the Boston Pro, Bonac explained that he will make improvements to his abs and gyno before the Olympia, which will take place in December.
There were talks of Bonac finishing as the runner-up during the Arnold Classic because of his abs and gyno. Bonac seemed to hear the noise and vowed to improve in certain areas before going into the biggest bodybuilding show of the year. He spoke after his victory in Boston.

“Yes, I know I had some problems with my gyno (Gynecomastia). I know that I had some problems with my abs as well. I know that I can fix it once I get the qualification. So thank god. Now I have the time to go and do the operation and fix everything that’s needed so I don’t have any excuses at Mr. Olympia.”
William Bonac wanted to focus on gaining his qualification to the Olympia so he could fully prepare for the event. Even with some of his areas needing work, some thought that Bonac could have won the Arnold Classic.
Bonac emerged during prejudging in Columbus as one of the favorites on stage. This was expected heading into the event but it was confirmed during the Friday night session. Bonac came in looking like a mass monster and was head-to-head with champion Brandon Curry. In the end, it was Curry who emerged as the winner with Bonac right behind.

Now, it is up to Bonac to make the necessary improvements to compete at the Olympia. It was so serious that Bonac explained that he thought about retiring from completion. He was also put in touch with Chad Nicholls, who is a renowned bodybuilding coach. Nicholls was able to put Bonac through a five-week camp in order to get back to championship shape.
William Bonac has a busy year ahead of him and could look to build on this victory and his performance in the 2021 Olympia. With this qualification and if improvements are made, Bonac will be a force once again on the biggest stage in the sport.

William Bonac Reflects On Second Place Finish At Arnold Classic: ‘What In Gods Name Do I Have To Do More?’

William Bonac Reflects On Second Place Finish At Arnold Classic: ‘What In Gods Name Do I Have To Do More?’

William Bonac finished second to Brandon Curry during the 2022 Arnold Classic.
The 2022 Arnold Classic is officially in the books and it is now time for athletes to reflect on their performance from the event. This is exactly what William Bonac is doing and he shared a post on social media Sunday to speak on his showing.
Bonac took to Instagram early Sunday to make a statement. It was a bit of a controversial result as many believed the 39-year-old was good enough to win the competition. In the end, Bonac finished as the runner-up to Brandon Curry. In his caption, Bonac took the time to thank his supporters and say he will return better than ever.

“MY FATHER!What in Gods name do I have to do more??
One thing I can look myself in the mirror knowing me and my coach @thedietdoc and trainings partner @candrick29 and my wife @sueyenne7did everything we possible could do to get this win. Unfortunately I wasn’t good enough, and came short in the eyes of the judges.
We will get back to the drawing board and come back, and keep coming back until I can’t be denied! ?
Huge thank you to everyone who supported me from day one, who never doubted me even when I was on my low.
May God blessed those who threw me in under the bus and put dirt on my name.
NEVER GIVE UP NOMATTER WHAT!!”

William Bonac has had great success at the Arnold Classic. He won the competition in 2020 and was unable to defend his title last season due to travel restrictions. During prejudging on Friday night, Bonac looked to gain a bit of an advantage over the competition but that changed during the finals. It was a close contest but Curry was given the advantage in the end.
In a backstage interview, Bonac said that he believed this was the best he has looked at the Arnold Classic. There was not much more he believed he needed to do to win the competition. Before the final results were announced, Bonac was handed the most muscular award as well.

Curry has been a monster in the sport in recent years winning the Olympia in 2019 before finishing as the runner-up in each of the previous two years. Bonac will look to improve his showing come December. Steve Kuclo finished third in Columbus as Samson Dauda and Justin Rodriguez rounded out the top five.
The Arnold Classic being back in March after a delay last year to the pandemic marks the beginning of the bodybuilding season. The Men’s Open division is going to be an exciting one once again and William Bonac is believed to be in the mix. It is clear that he is happy with what he brought to the stage but will continue to work to make improvements.
