Vince McMahon Steps Down As WWE CEO, Chairman Amid Investigation Into Alleged $3M Payoff To Former Employee
Vince McMahon has stepped aside one day after WWE board opens inquiry about alleged $3 million hush payment.
Vince McMahon has stepped aside as CEO and chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment after an investigation into an alleged hush money payment to a former employee. The report says that McMahon paid this employee $3 million over an alleged affair.
McMahon is cooperating with the inquiry and the WWE says he will “retain his role and responsibilities related to WWE’s creative content.” Stephanie McMahon will take over as the interim CEO and chairwoman.
“I have pledged my complete cooperation to the investigation by the special committee, and I will do everything possible to support the investigation. I have also pledged to accept the findings and outcome of the investigation, whatever they are,” Vince McMahon said in a statement.
A special committee of WWE’s board has begun an investigation into McMahon. the investigation is into money that was paid to a former employee that McMahon allegedly had an affair with. According to The Wall Street Journal, this agreement from January prevented the employee “from discussing her relationship with Mr. McMahon or disparaging him.”
The WWE released a statement saying:
“Special Committee of the Board is conducting an investigation into alleged misconduct by its Chairman and CEO Vincent McMahon and John Laurinaitis, head of talent relations, and that, effective immediately, McMahon has voluntarily stepped back from his responsibilities as CEO and Chairman of the Board until the conclusion of the investigation.”
The company is taking these allegations “very seriously” and will work with an independent legal service to help with the review. A third party will also “conduct a comprehensive review of the company’s compliance program, HR function and overall culture.”
WWE said there is no other comment expected until the investigation is complete. Vince McMahon bought this company from his father, Vincent J. McMahon, back in 1982. Since then, he has built the WWE into a powerhouse and has helped create superstars such as The Rock, Hulk Hogan, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
WWE is a publicly traded company where McMahon holds a majority of shareholders’ voting power. Shares have risen more than 30% year to date but did slide 4% before the opening bell on Friday.

WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes Went Through Hell In A Cell Match With A Torn Pec
Cody Rhodes sustained the injury just hours before the match occurred.
The Hell in a Cell match is one of the most exciting in WWE history. Cody Rhodes made sure that he would not disappoint when he was scheduled to appear. Rhodes, performing under the name “Stardust,” suffered a torn pec just hours before he was going to take on Seth Rollins in Hell in a Cell. Rhodes ended up going through with the match and put on a memorable performance.
The Hell in a Cell match debuted on October 5, 1997 when Shawn Michaels defeated The Undertaker thanks to an assist by Kane. Over the year, there have been many legendary matches inside this cage that covers the ring. The match between Undertaker and Mankind will always be near the top of the list as it gave us one of the best moments ever. With both athletes on top of the cage, Undertaker sent Mankind flying off through the announcers table.
Needless to say, there are big shoes to fill and Rhodes did not disappoint. He burst onto the scene in the WWE in 2006 and enjoyed a career that lasted a decade. He then moved to All Elite Wrestling and won the AEW-TNT Championship three times.

Despite being able to get through the match, it is clear that Cody Rhodes was in a great deal of pain. He entered the cage with a massive bruise on his chest, shoulder, and bicep. Following the match, Rhodes was able to walk off under his own power but needed immediate medical assistance.

Rhodes joins a long list of wrestlers who have suffered this injury. Most notably, John Cena ripped his pec off the bone in 2007, right in the prime of his career. Triple H also suffered this injury in 2018 during his match on the Crown Jewel pay-per-view.
This is an injury that is quite common for those who perform in a contact sport with plenty of awkward movements. In the WWE, these are quite unpredictable. It is also common during weightlifting if there is a huge amount of weight on the bar. Cody Rhodes will have to go through a long recovery to get back into the ring.

WWE Legend Triple H Announces Retirement From In-Ring Competition, Details Heart Failure Scare
Triple H was a 14-time World Champion during his legendary career.
Triple H built a career in WWE that spanned several decades. He is one of the best professional wrestlers of his time but that has officially come to an end. Speaking with Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s First Take, Triple H announced his retirement from in-ring action.
Triple H, whose real name is Paul Levesque, made his debut in 1995. His last televised match came on June 7, 2019 when he took on Randy Orton in Saudi Arabia. During his career, Triple H became a 14-time World Champion.
On ESPN, Levesque explained how he went into heart failure in September following a battle with viral pneumonia.
“I will never wrestle again,” Levesque said. “First of all, I have a defibrillator in my chest, which, you know, probably not a good idea for me to get zapped on live TV.”
Doctors told Levesque that he was not close to full strength and that he was in “bad” heart failure. This is what led to the decision to hang it u in the ring for good.
“I was nose-diving and sort of at the 1-yard line of where you don’t want to be really, for your family and your future,” Levesque said Friday. “There’s moments in there when they’re putting you out for stuff and you think, ‘Is this it? Do you wake up from this?’ That’s tough to swallow and makes you think differently.”
Triple H was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019 along with his former group, D-Generation-X. He was known for his work alongside Shawn Michaels terrorizing the WWE. Triple H also saw plenty of success as an individual known as “The Game.”
Triple H was a staple of the company during the Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Era. He won the WWE Championship nine times, World Heavyweight Championship five times, and Intercontinental Championship five times. During his career, Levesque also held the World Tag Team title, along with Stone Cold Steve Austin, and European title.
Levesque still acts as an executive Vice President with WWE. He is married to Stephanie McMahon, who is WWE’s chief brand office and daughter of Vince McMahon.
Triple H was known for his shredded physique, athleticism, and personality on the microphone. He will remain a part of the WWE and will forever have a legacy known as one of the top personalities the company has ever had.

“My heart is broken and I’m so very fucking sad. I love Scott with all my heart but now I have to prepare my life without him in the present. I’ve been blessed to have a friend that took me at face value and I him….See Ya down the road Scott. I couldn’t love a human being any more than I do you.”
Scott Hall and Kevin Nash spent years together in the NWO in the 1990’s in WCW. Hall, known as Razor Ramon at the time, teamed up with Nash and Hulk Hogan to create a group that completely changed things up in professional wrestling. The schtick became so popular that the group translated to WWE action.
Nash discussed the translation into wrestling in his post and how Hall helped make it all happen.
“When we jumped to WCW we didn’t care who liked or hated us. We had each other and with the smooth Barry Bloom we changed wrestling both in content and pay for those……alot that disliked us. We were the “Outsiders ” but we had each other.”
“Scott always felt he wasn’t worthy of the afterlife. Well God please have some gold plated toothpicks for my brother.”

Vince McMahon On Threats Over The Years: ‘I Don’t Know How Many Rivers I’m Supposed To Be At The Bottom Of’
Vince McMahon has heard the outside noise but does not let it get to him.
It is unfortunate but threats are common to those in a position of power, especially when they do not do something that the public likes. In the case of Vince McMahon, he created the WWE taking some of the top professional wrestlers from all over the sport and making one league. Since purchasing the WWWF from his father during the 80’s, McMahon has received plenty of death threats.
This is not surprising given the fact that McMahon has built the WWE into a multi-billion dollar corporation that does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. McMahon, who’s net worth is $2.2 billion according to Forbes, has seen the threats and is unphased. He recently sat down with Pat McAfee and discussed this topic.
“I don’t know how many rivers I’m supposed to be at the bottom of,” McMahon said.
“Death threats are what they are. I always felt like if you can know off the president of the United States, I’m easy to get to. I’ve never had a bodyguard or any of that stuff.”
Vince McMahon explained that this was part of the territory for testing the system. He took a chance and combined professional wrestling leagues, which aggravated promoters, but it ended up turning into a massive success.
This did not stop the threats and Hall-of-Fame analyst Jim Ross even stumbled upon a conversation before his days with the company. Ross was in a bathroom stall when he overheard some men discussing how they were going to put a hit on McMahon.
“They were talking about how they were going to off me. ‘This guy knows this guy. I know a guy who can do this. This guy has done this. It was really impressive.’ They all know people, so they’re talking about who was going to off me,” McMahon explained.
“So imagine Jim Ross. He doesn’t give a shit about Vince McMahon. He’s thinking about himself. He’s on the throne. He hears this and thinks he’s gonna be an accessory to murder. He takes one foot, puts it on the seat. Takes the other one, puts it on the seat, so now they can’t see his feet below the stall. And of course, Mother Nature is calling at the same time.”
During the interview, Vince McMahon even offered Pat McAfee a match at Wrestlemania 38. This would come against McMahon’s protege Austin Theory. It is unknown if unknown if this is confirmed just yet but McMahon would kick off the feud between the two. Of course, McMahon knows a thing or two about stepping in the ring.
McMahon has not competed at Wrestlemania since his street fight against Bret Hart in 2010. It is unlikely that the 76-year-old will take on a huge role in the ring but he has been able to keep himself in tremendous shape over the years.
Vince McMahon is an owner who always has something up his sleeve. This is how he has been able to turn the WWE into a billion-dollar corporation. As for any outside noise or threats, it just comes with the territory.

WWE Superstar Seth Rollins Tackled During Show, Fan Charged With Attempting Assault
The fan who attacked Seth Rollins during Raw will be charged for incident.
Anything can happen during a live television event. That was seen on WWE’s “Raw” on Monday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Following a match, Seth Rollins was tackled by a fan on the ramp. The fan was quickly taken by security and brought backstage. That fan has been charged with attempted assault and attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs for their actions, according to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi.
The incident occurred after Rollins, who is one of WWE’s biggest stars, defeated Finn Balor and was walking back to the locker rooms. The fan seemed to blindside Rollins and attempt to spear him in the midsection. It turned out to be more of a tackle and Rollins quickly put the man in a headlock before security arrived.
The broadcast caught a quick glimpse of the incident before cutting to Balor, who was laying on the mat in the ring. Seth Rollins did not need medical attention after the incident after suffering a bruised lip.
The WWE made a statement to ESPN following the incident.
“WWE takes the safety of its performers very seriously,” WWE said. “The individual who attacked Seth Rollins has been turned over to the NYPD and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
WWE is scripted entertainment but every now and then, there are incidents that come as a surprise. This could be an unexpected injury in the ring or an attack by an outside person. For Seth Rollins, this is not the first time that a fan has tried to attack him while performing.
Back in 2016, Seth Rollins was in the middle of the ring cutting a promo when a fan jumped the barricade and attempted to approach him. The man got in the face of Rollins before being shoved away and taken by security.
Seth Rollins made his WWE debut back in 2012 after helping CM Punk defeat John Cena to retain the WWE Championship. This was toward the end of the career of Cena and the WWE began introducing some new stars. Enter Rollins and Roman Reigns.
Rollins quickly rose to the top of the WWE and this put him on the radar for any crazed fan looking for a quick 15 minutes. The organization has made it clear that they do not condone this behavior from fans and there will be a proper punishment.
