getnpd

New member
hey guys i have a friend of mine he is 6ft 240lbs @26%bf he has done cycles before but now that he is 40 yrs old he is getting lazy. he says now he is going to do a bulking cycle ,were i told him to diet down and get your body fat lower than what it is,then start your cycle, what do u guys think of this and also at what body fat percentage should you start to run a bulking cycle thanks maybe he will listen to what you guys have to say thanks j

Your post was moderated so no one scene it until I just approved it now plus I'll move it to proper forum

He shouldn't be considering steroids at all let alone to bulk at his starting point you listed above. He needs to diet his ass off, do loads of cardio and train high volume

I like to do a bulk when I am lean. I tend to get more out of it when I start at 10% or under. As I get older, the sides hit me worse as I get higher in BF.

To each his own.

I would say 15% as an absolute max. Your friend is carrying around 60 pounds of fat, which means his diet probably isn't great. Adding two excuses to eat more is probably a bad idea.

Yes well said above fellas! Lol Jeff at the two excuses to eat more! Haha. He needs to learn how to eat and do cardio to get that bf way down before considering aas and bulking. Otherwise he is asking for problems. Unless he is going for the powerlifting look. I'm sure those guys juice and they are likely around 30% bf.

lol, yeah powerlifters for the most part don't give a flying fuck about their BF% lol, not all but most

I lost about 40lbs, which got me to roughly 20%, before I took anything at all.
Honestly, I wish I would have waited longer, but the cat's outta the bag.

I thought my first cycle was gonna be a bulk, but ended up being a recomp.
I guess it just depends on what he intends to eat in order to "bulk".
I found that you can get bigger by eating a lot, but keeping a "clean" diet.

If he "bulks" by eating whatever he can get his hands on, it's just that much more fat he's gonna have to lose, and that SUCKS!!

What I did has served me well, and honestly I doubt I'll ever do a "dirty bulk" now that I've started leaning out.
I love the way it looks, and I can still grow!

I'd recommend going for a "recomp". That way he'll grow and lean out at the same time. Why wouldn't you want that?!

If he starts with that body fat percentage he's going to blow up with water and look like a pig. Follow the great advise given above and he needs to get down under 15% I would say even 12% then worry about cycling. I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure a guy at my gym just made this mistake and he looks like complete shit. To the contrary another guy came in and spent 5 months taking the fat off then started a sus cycle and moved to tren a and test p and he's looking great a complete body recomp done correctly.

Steroids work better when you're lean:
http://www.ergo-log.com/roiddiet.html

Plus your nutrition partitioning will be better when you're lean - i.e. over-eating will lead to a higher proportion of muscle gains over fat gains the leaner you are.

In fact, everything in bodybuilding works better when you're lean.

Get more out of your steroids – lose weight first
The lower your body fat percentage, the more effective your testosterone-ester injections will be. Endocrinologists in Muenster, Germany, discovered this when doing research on hormone preparations for male contraceptives. Their article has been published in the Journal of Andrology.

The aim of male contraception is to get the testes to stop producing sperm. The classic way of achieving this is to halt the production of the hormones LH and FSH by the pituitary gland – and you do that by administering sex hormones. FSH and LH stimulate the testes to produce sperm and testosterone. If you add exogenous androgens, the brain thinks that there are already so many hormones circulating in the body that the testes don't need to do anything, and then stops the production of the stimulating hormones – and thus the production of sperm. So far, most attention has been focused on slow-release testosterone-esters, and the German research is no exception. The researchers gave forty male test subjects slow-release testosterone undecanoate. [Structural formula shown above.]
The researchers gave the test subjects a thousand milligrams of testosterone-ester in two doses, six weeks apart. The more body fat the men had, the lower the increase in concentration of testosterone in the blood from the injections. In the figure below the grey curve represents the testosterone level of men with less than ten kilograms of body fat. The black curve represents men with more than eighteen kilograms of fat.

The units not shown on the horizontal axis represent time spans of two weeks.
It would seem that body fat inhibits the rise in the blood testosterone level after injections are given. You might argue that fat men tend to be heavier than thin men, but according to the researchers, body weight plays only a minor role in the inhibitory effect of the fat reserves. You see the effect more clearly if you look at the free testosterone levels.

That fat men react less well to testosterone can also be seen from the effect of the injections on the LH levels. These decreased by less in the fatter men.

The researchers do not know how body fat makes testosterone less effective. A popular theory is that fat cells are capable of converting testosterone into estradiol. The Germans found no confirmation of this, however, as the fat men had similar estradiol levels in their blood to those of the slim men.
If fat men are to use testosterone-esters as a form of contraception, they will need higher doses, the researchers speculate. The testosterone injections may also take longer to become effective in fatter males. And the same will apply to chemical athletes.
