I haven't done rack pulls for a while now and finally did them again this past Monday and I must say that it was quite a humbling experience. I was only able to get 550 for 1. I used to be able to do 585 for 3-5 at my best, but that's been a while ago. I thought my strength was at an all time high, but this is one exercise that was quite disappointing. Everything else I feel like I'm lifting more than in the past

I'm sure if you did this exercise consistently for a few weeks your numbers would sky rocket!

I agree. I had to lay off them for a bit when I tweaked my side. Plus they aren't good given the condition of my spine, but damn do I love them!

Never done them. I have been doing a ton of deadlifts but not these types. I think Big WV posted a video once. Ill look for it. I need to bring up the weight. Im upto 465lb x1 pull but can do 405lb for many. Cant break past the 465lb mark?? Im being careful not to injure myself but would love to pull a 500lb dead or at least imrpove and do 465lb for 5 reps. I hate not progressing

All of the videos I've seen makes it look like you are only moving the bar 6 inches or less. Do you guys get a good back workout with them?

When I say rack deads I only mean that the bar isn't on or hitting the ground. The parrallel bars stop it several inches below my knees. The bar is only elevated maybe 4 inches more than if it were resting on the plates on the ground. I get a much better back workout from rack deads as I don't near as much glute and hamstring involvement.

Maybe the guys in the videos were doing way too much weight and cheating. lol. When I do dead lifts I don't rest the weight on the ground. I go down to about shin height and then back up. Maybe I'll try some of these slightly higher along with the safety bar.

Those are good numbers regardless bro. My best is 545 for 2. Now I'm doing a high volume workout though. If you think 550 for 1 is tough, try 405 for 20!!

I did post some videos of me doing these a while back, I'll try to get the videos bumped up to the top so you can see where they start, but mine start as low as mid shin, but with my doing sumos, it's closer to the bottom of my knee. But they are more or less simply used to build strength in the end movement of the dead lift. If you can get the weight off the ground and to your kness, but can't lock it out, these will greatly help
