I actually feel bad for this guy now...

Used to think of him as a sellout until I read his book, and then it made more sense to me that he was the steroids scapegoat of the MLB. At a time when everyone was using, he took the brunt of it.

If you read his books, it's pretty sad his life in general. He had alot of issues with his wife, who clearly married him for money and then custody wise he struggled to retain his daughter..

For all he has been through I managed to find a little respect for this guy once I heard his version.

Still carrying some decent size if he would only rip it up a little...

Any thoughts on him??

I've met him SEVERAL times in the gym I used to workout at. He was a DICK. I mean of the worst kind. EPIC FUCKING DICK. You'd wish him a good season and hope you have a good game Jose, and he'd just look at you like you were some lower life form. Would not even acknowledge your existence. I'm not the kind to bug for an autograph EVER, but I've seen him tell little kids off. I mean he was a DICK. He was married to his ex at the time Jessica. She was about the nicest person in the world. I do not feel one bit sorry for him. You reap what you sow.

Thing is everyone is struggling one way or another. Rich people too, they just dont struggle for money. Everyone has something they are dealing with, no one is exempt. I wont judge him because I am dick myself sometimes. I like him him though as a ball player. He was a scapegoat and I read his book. Owners knew exactly what was going on at the time. Truth is they wanted the money from increase attendance. I bet you if you really dig they were providing it in a roundabout way. American public loves drama which is created from the evil media which formulates opinion among the masses.

MK, well said. It is funny you mention it..no matter how well someone seems put together, they too have their struggles, you are right on that.

I remember as a kid, Jose Canseco was fun to watch. I would wait for him to get up to bat, the stands would all get electrified waiting for him to hit a homerun..and he often did. He looked so big, he would just crush the ball it was awesome.

For me, he was to baseball like Michael Jordan was to basketball, Mike Tyson to fighting, Michael Jackson to music. Maybe i am just obsessed with the 80's? Good memories though

Oh he was a great baseball player. He and Mcgwire were great together on the A's. Canseco was baseballs first ever 40 40 man. I dont judge him for anything he used while in baseball, I judge him off my fist hand knowledge of him being a DICK.

They were called the Bash Brothers in Oakland IIRC. WHen I was getting my gear from HRT clinic in FLorida via mail, my rep used to tell me that Jose would come in there to pick his up. He really didnt comment on him being a dick but he did say he seemed like a real knucklehead, each time he came in, the staff had to re-educate him on how to inject or something like that

Wes, I saw him in a reality TV show that his ex-wife was on. She said that he didn't pay any child support bc the steroid scandal ruined him. She claims to have a successful business and he didn't pay her a dime. He was on the show also trying to get her back. I only saw 2-3 of the shows. He didn't have a lot of contact with his daughter. I cant judge him based on 2-3 shows. Also, Id imagine for anyone that had great talent, good looks and was making millions and having people flock to them,, I could imagine anyone would turn into a dick, especially if there young too. Its a lot to handle at that age. Now if he was 40 years old and still a dick, then ok, hes a pure dick and didn't learn anything

This is true. She was on a local radio station here and she said she actually still cares for him in that lost soul kind of way. She lends him money from time to time now that he is broke.

I loved to watch the bash brothers (right across the bay here) but we would laugh cus they said they just hit the
gym hard in the off season and put on 30 lbs of muscle. He is a dick. He wrote that first book and sold everyone,
even his so called friends, out. Naming names. Some things you just dont do especially to make a buck (moraly in
my opinion) He burnt all his bridges. No one would trust him. Few years back he was going to try to sue major leage
baseball because he was blackballed and no one would give him a job. He brought it all on himself. I always think of
Greg Anderson, Bobby Bonds childhood friend who went to prison (twice) rather then testify against Bonds for the Feds.
Conseco gave everyone up for a buck and it came back on him. Dont feel sorry for him at alll.
