Hello everyone,

I have not found dedicated section for new members, and I hope it's not the wrong place.

I am 30 years old.
7 years of training practice (fight no BB).
2 years pause because injuries.
Currently I am fatty (91 Kg, 178 Cm. @ 20% BF.).
And now I'm back in business and I plan to train in 5/3/1 style.

Excuse me for mistakes, I'am not american/anglish native speaker (I'am from France).

Regards.

Thank you everyone!
I watch MMA occasionally, I preferr the early days of the* UFC, when fighting style was less polished.
I had a big sprained ankle, 2 displaced vertebrae and multiple sciatica.
I think I can't do heavy squat or deadlift now... :-(

Before, I trained with circuits and body weight excercises: all kind of Pullups and chinups, squats, jump squats, pushups, dips. Hypertrophy BB trainings tend to make me slow and break my cardio.
Now i'll try something like 5/3/1, i'want to be stronger (and biger!)

elaborate please? not sure what that is.

5/3/1 ??? When you tell me what that is I will probably feel like a idiot. lol Welcome.
Interesting, Martial arts started me lifting weights. Everyone said you would get muscle
bound. lol Where I trained believed that power came from speed AND muscle. If you
were fast as hell but no muscle, you could hit the guy 50 times and just piss him off.
If you were all muscle with no speed your punch was just a big push. You might knock
the guy across the street but he was going to get up and come back at ya. Muscle PLUS
Speed = Power. We only lifted dumbells and it was interesting because some courses
would make us slower but the next one would increase your speed. It was very interesting.
I have always lifted to suppliment my martial arts. I definitly feel the greater strength
made me a better fighter. I am currantly working out with a Pro MMA fighter. Kid from
brazil who's main style is Ju-jitsu. Kid kicks the crap out of me. Gotta love it. lol
Sorry to hijack the post. lol WELCOME BRO.

Happy new years guys!

mcgaret: In krav maga we are not specialized like sports fighters.
A real fight is rarely 1 vs 1 and often lasts less than a minute (15 to 30s generaly). We learn to hit the eyes, genital parts, throat ... And no state of mind to use nearby objects!
We also learn to use and defend weapons.
It's totaly different approach than fighting sport.

By 5/3/1 i mean 5/3/1 Jim Wendler workout, I'm reading is book, i search a simple workout like the "Boring but big".

I also think about Mark Ripptoe's novice workout:
Monday
3x5 Squat
3x5 Bench press / Press (Alternating)
Chin-ups: 3 sets to failure or add weight if completing more than 15 reps
Wednesday
3x5 Squat
3x5 Press / Bench Press (Alternating)
1x5 Deadlift

Friday
3x5 Squat
3x5 Bench Press / Press (Alternating)
Pull-ups: 3 sets to failure or add weight if completing more than 15 reps.

Advices are welcome :-)
