I have some old ones from 25 yrs ago and now a guy has 4 100lb plates that are in pristine shape but still used...the color is gray which isnt the black I have in my weight room, but oh well...he wants $90 per plate, I know when I buy 1 inch plates for dumbells, I pay .50-.60 cents per pound when they are used and I have to sandblast and paint them....2 inch plates are about the same...what you guys think?? .90 cents/lb too high?

Probably a bit high if you have to put some work into them. You can get brand new ones for $120 (not including shipping). I'd try talking him down to $80.

True he wanted $90 per just for one and I'm taking four....I was going to offer him $280, or .70 cents per thinking he'd come back a tad higher and we'd settle in the $80 range...for some reason the 100lbers are hard to find and more pricier

yeah bro, i think thats way way too high! I must have searched craiglist for a week straight and many hours for weights, and what i know is this, people are hard up for cash, and selling shit so cheap it makes ya think something is wrong, but people are just hurting for money these days, so .90 cents per pound is way to high for used plates, regardless of the shape they're in.

I also am not familiar with how hard they are to come by as you stated, so maybe he knows that! But i would certainly offer him .70 per pound for all 400 lbs, and see what he says, shit i would offer him $250 and tell him you have the cash ready to go, he will negotiate , they always do, unless of course they are really that hard to find!

I'm on craigslist right now, and i see the 100lb plates for .90 per pound, and i also see a guy selling 2 of them and an olympic bar all for $120 , so you can find a better deal I'm sure brutha!

Link below to 200lbs and olympic bar for 120$ (crazy cheap)

well I'm searching everywhere to see what they go for brand new, and some brand new are only $95 with free shipping, so yeah you can do better, hell walmart online sells 100lbs 2inch olympic weight plates and they ship free as well for $90 per 100lb plate, and they look nice to me!

I've been searching Craigs for quite some time, I never see much when it comes to these...my local Wally World has them for $103 including tax and free shipping....plus I dont have to drive what amounts to 50 miles to get them...plus right color, not gray as what this guy has....I will offer him the $250 like you said, and settle a tad higher, as Wal Mrts price w/tax is $413 for four plates...$275 is my high bid, otherwise I'll either wait or pay $140 more, actaully about $115 factoring in gas
Thanks Bro for the research, mucho appreciated, times are tough in the gym biz these days and everry $ saved is a $ earned (not to get cliche in ya!)

yeah i noticed their wasn't shit when i put in wisconsin craiglist area, lol, i am only going by your profile location, as it says wisconsin, and yep , aint shit out there for sale, i looked at the major cities and nothing!

It has been a while since our gym got 100# plates, but i want to say they were .60 per pound back then but that was also like 10 years ago.

Wow, that's crazy high, but when he can't sell them maybe he'll come back around. I've learned that no matter something is "worth" it is truly only worth what you can get out of it

Yea what do they say, the worth of something is what the seller is willing to pay the current owner? Sometimes the best "buy" is the one you walk from

you'll find the greatest deal on them when your NOT looking for them brutha! thats usually how it works, and unfortunately its usually when you don't have the money for them to lmao
