are you saying that the thighs should not go past a 90 degree angle? His are going clear up to his chest and am I to assume that is what you mean by incorrect? Thanks
Hanging leg raises, or the reverse crunch, should begin at the point where hip flexion BEGINS to flatten the curve in the lower back. If you start sooner you recruit the psoas (hip flexor). In the animation I posted, the abdominals are not engaged until that person's thighs ARE AT approximately 90 degress flexion (the actual angle will be different for each individual).
You see a lot of people in the gym performing this exercise, either bent or straight-leg, by throwing up their legs from the bottom position. Unless their are integrating psoas work with abdominal work their form is incorrect.
