It's been forever since I've been on here, though I was a regular at one time.

I'm asking this for my wife. She's 66, 5-2, 120-ish and around 30% bf. She's been lifting weights for a long time. Currently works out 4-5 times per week total; 2x/week with a trainer (that's new as of a couple weeks ago) and does crossfit 1x per week. We hike together several times per week as of about 2 weeks ago. She tracks her food using Cronometer (I use this app also) and has been 100 to 200 calories below her maintenance calories for the past month or so. Maintenance calories for her is about 1400. Her goal is low 20's% bf.

She's on her second ever cycle of Anavar. First cycle was 12 weeks. Started at 5mg; gradually ramped up to 20mg/day and ran it for 12 weeks; then 12 weeks off. She's 3 weeks or so into her second cycle at 20mg/day. She's not seeing any result other than being EXTREMELY hungry. She's thinking she's probably going to stop taking it but is wondering if she should maybe try 30mg?

I've read all I can find on here about women and anavar and what I've seen seems to be 20mg/day is generally the max dose. Thoughts?

Hi @EMW14

Your wife shouldn't dose more than 10 mg/day for 5 weeks TBH - if she wants to avoid dealing with masculinization sides that include breast atrophy, hair growth, and clitoris enlargement.

anabolic steroids are not fat burners. they were mostly all designed to prevent muscle wasting.

if she is really 30% body fat and 120pounds that doesn't make sense. 30% is either too high or the weight is off.

Bros, you should get her to come on here and do a log. That's the only way she is going to get the best results.

It would really help if you posted a picture of her. Is she trying to lose weight? What are her goals? If she's trying to lose weight, Anavar is not going to work.

What was her intention of using Anavar in the first place? What was she trying to accomplish that she thought Anavar would give for her?

anavar is not a fat burner. that is her issue.

she should get on a GLP-1 and improve her diet and she will lose. but 120lbs doesn't seem heavy?

Thanks for all the replies.

It's highly unlikely she'll be interested in doing a log herself. I'll talk to her about it and see what she says.

What is GLP1? I don't know what that is.

She's very petite and small boned. I can touch the tips of my index finger and thumb while wrapped around her wrist.

Hers is a bit of a long story. The short version is that she has osteoporosis. She is on a doctor supervised HRT program that includes testosterone and estradiol, both in cream form, as well as a bunch of supplements and (I think) T3. The physician group who's treating her condition uses a very thorough approach including hormones, supplements, exercise and diet. It's extremely expensive and not covered by insurance. She's into her second year following this protocol and has increased her bone density enough to improve from osteoporosis to osteopenia except for one of the measured areas, which has also improved, but not yet enough to get out of "osteoporosis" territory. The first year, the protocol included a VERY knowledge nutritionist. We can't afford to continue her services, so she's in a less comprehensive program with the same group (still thousands out of pocket - no complaints, it's working).
That's the background. What are her goals:
1. Continue to improve bone density. This is accomplished by weight training and increasing muscle mass. Bones respond in much the same way as muscles to being "mechanically loaded."
2. Increase muscle mass (really included with bone density above)
3. Improve body composition. She's not been measured for body composition lately but last time she was measured (using "In Body" scan) she was right about 30%. When she started with this protocol, she was 35%. I'm estimating her current BF% at 30% based on the last time she had a body scan; her weight hasn't changed much if at all since then; and she looks about the same.

She started with the anavar primarily to help build muscle and thus increase bone density. We both had hoped that it would have a secondary effect of burning off some fat. That has not happened. She did get a little bit stronger, but had a bit of a setback in the form of a minor rotate cuff tear. This is pretty much healed at this point as a result of PT.

I'll see if she'll let me post pix and/or start a log for her. Again, I doubt it very much.

Am I on cycle? Not exactly, but I'm on a self administered TRT of sorts. I'm 56. I do a stack including TE; TP; Deca; and Mast E. I may start a log for myself, but that's a different story.

I gotta run, late for an appointment. I think I've covered the various questions and given background info and so forth. If more info is desired, please ask.
