Aveed is a relatively new drug in regard to it recently being approved. Its testosterone undecanoate in castor oil to extend the active life. It's 250mg/ml and contains test U, castor oil, and BB. It does not have BA as it is only supplied in 3ml single dose vials. They will not give it to you at the pharmacy, rather they give you shots at the docs office. One starting dose, one 4 weeks later then one every 10 weeks. They say steady state levels are achieved after the third shot and after the first two it one 3cc shot every 10 weeks. The breakdown given in the literature is: "Each single use vial contains 3 mL of 250mg,mL testosterone undecanoate solution in a mixture of 1500mg of benzyl benzoate and 885 mg of refined castor oil." By my calculation this comes out to 1.3cc BB, .9cc castor oil, .8cc test u. This comes out to roughly 43% BB which is well above the standard 20% used by most homebrewers.
Powderguy's recent post about BB and BA says a concentration this high will lead to negative effects. I'm looking to make this shortly but with the addition of BA because I will be using multi-dose vials instead of singles. My question to you all is have you ever tried anything like this and how did it work. I would assume that if it has been approved by the FDA the recipe should work and be safe. I'd love to hear from powderguy on this and anyone who has experience brewing with castor oil or high BB concentrations.
