So how many of you have started a new career? Silk and I are hoping that we can move and leave our jobs in 6 years. We should have the cars, land, and most if not all of the house paid off. I've always wanted to work with my hands and be "skilled". I'd love to be like a general carpenter type. Like be able to do some work on the house, maybe general electrical stuff... It's years off, but I don't really know where to start. I don't have alot of free time now. Maybe some books? Any of you guys do stuff like this? What about schooling? Like a small Tech school?? Just thinking out loud here

any hands on skill-carpenter skills are great

electrician that's a lot of schooling and on job training-a buddy of mine is one and his apprenticeship was about 5 years

as far as books, I would look into physics books and get a general knowledge of how simple machines work and the principles of pulleys, levers, wheels, etc

Are you good at math?
LOL!! That's the beginning of my best pickup lines...

You good at math? Ill add the bed, subtract your clothes, divide your legs and then I'll multiply.

No I didn't make it up..and yes it works ONLY because a)shock value b)conversation piece 3)makes any girl laugh..

Back on topic, yes Dude, career change several times. I went to school myself for 6 years and pretty much gave up on it working in my Degree Field, because I wasn't happy. Wen't back into Training FT but the money is just not there..Finally went out on a limb and started the Supplement Company which is in the works as we speak. It makes me nervous. It's risky. But no one worthy of anything ever got anywhere without risk..So I'm all in.

It's tough bro but I know what you are going through. I made a career change and have loved it. More money with no overtime, different kind of stress that you don't need to see a shrink for. Let me know if you want to talk about it, I've met a lot of guys transition and have great success.

im not skilled for shit and hate it. I know landscape construction because my dad had a huge company and I helped in high school and college. I'm more of a thinker.

Tough one. I got my forst degree in Criminology... LOL, I first went to prison (short stay) and when I got out, I thought,, hey Ill go to school for Criminology. Damn that was dumb. I worked in a prison for 9 months and hated it. I got along better with the inmates than the officers. I just don't get any police type people. Arrogant fucks. Anyway, I went back to Med school and got my Clinical Pharm.D. degree. Yes it took me 8 more years. I don't really like it either. I do enjoy real estate and have done well. You could buy a duplex and try to make it work and leverage from there. I had 7 properties with 40 apartments and 8 garages. I wanted to open a property management company and get paid to landlord. I have thought about opening a gym, which you could as well. Mix my passion with business??? Im like you and Wesley,, always thinking of a new plan of business....... Hey lets start a new web-site, kinda like MC!!!, lol just kidding press

I know its what I want to do, I just can't take gambles. A few more years and I should be good to try it. I'm the guy that goes to Vegas but refuses to gamble even with other people's money!!
