New Generation Super Drugs

A top anti-doping official has allayed fears over a new generation of "super EPO" drugs being used in sport.

Erythropoietin is a blood-boosting hormone used to improve stamina in endurance events, and drug companies are currently developing new versions.

But World Anti-Doping Agency science director Olivier Rabin, claimed Wada is well prepared for the new drugs.

He told BBC Radio Five Live: "We've been tracking them, and we're confident we can detect these new forms of EPO."

Also speaking to Five Live ahead of a scientific conference in Italy, German expert Professor Wolfgang Jelkman warned "super EPOs" will be far more potent and could prove a major headache for anti-doping agencies.

He said: "They have been developed for the benefit of patients because drugs with a long half-life would need to be given less frequently to them. But one of the problems we have to expect is sportsmen would use combinations of these different drugs, and then it would be very difficult to detect."

interesting indeed, if it wasn't for the side effects and the constant monitoring needed I'd definitely love to run EPO

How bout the ridiculous cost $$$$$$$

That is one I am staying away from. Maybe it is because I have a history of high bp. To combine the two would be pretty bad, IMO.

Very interesting read bro, it has the worse sides than AAS and HGH combined...Blood clot and High BP aint no joke,....but nevertheless if someone is well educated on dose and timing of it he could see some good results from it....

yeah the expense would be crazy, if I was to do it I'd be out running another marathon and with upwards of 80 miles a week I wouldn't have to worry about blood pressure or clots. I'd just do it for a short time leading up to the race and I would definitely tell a doc to make sure I am monitored... with that much cardio the RBC wouldn't be an issue. I still don;'t think there'd be that much application of it for bodybuilders though.
