Going to start Crossfit for 90 days.

The workout this morning was brutal. Ended up doing 92 deadlifts.

My back and hamstrings are destroyed. My entire body hurts.

I know it's been a short period of time, but what's your feelings on the impact on your body so far? Bodyfat? Functional strength?

Updates? You should really think about some before and after pics. When you get lean you look very different

Strength is no different. Its odd you say before and after pics. I've had three people today at work ask if I've lost weight. I'm down about 6 pounds and a belt loop. I started at 221 and I was just under 216 this morning. I've taken the past 4 days off from crossfit and any workouts. My hamstrings, particularly my left were destroyed from the workout last Wednesday. The 90 plus deadlifts killed me. I'm going to do a regular gym workout with cardio tonight and be back to crossfit in the am.

Update. I'm actually enjoying the torture of crossfit. And i mean torture... Nobody should ever have to workout this hard. Every workout is different and pushes you beyond belief. There has not been a workout where I have not left completely spent. I puked again this morning after another dead lift workout. Did close to a hundred dead lifts. It's nuts how different doing this vs working out doing a body part a day is.

Another good effect is I am way more flexible. The crossfit gym I go to always does a superb job of getting us warmed up and stretched out both before and after the workout. It's a small environment with anywhere from 5-12 people working out. They blast good music and everyone helps and pushes each other to do more. Just good people.

It's been only three weeks but I can feel the changes. 6 months from now I'll be a different person. Looking forward to 5-6 inches comming off the waist line and being ble to run distance again and still be strong.

Here is a sample crossfit work out called death by clean and jerk. Not a lot of weight, i think its only 115 pounds but what you do is 1 the first minute 2 the second minute 3 the third minute ect until you can no long go on.

This guy won the crossfit game a couple years ago and is a STUD.

He gets up to 14-15 minutes... Retarded

5-12 people in a classroom doing individualized training and motivating one another.... that's how it all starts bro. Before long you'll be getting $.50 coffee at McDonalds and sitting there for 4 hours talking about the good old days and driving a 2 ton Lincoln with your head barely over the steering wheel.
I'm just playing. That's awesome that you've stuck with it. I know I couldn't. I've seen it. That shit is intense!

So CH3NO2, I was a social butterfly today while getting a pedicure and started talking to the girl next to me. She was wearing gym clothes so I asked her where she worked out and she said she did Crossfit. I brought you up and told her how I hear it's brutal. She said she threw up today, LOL....Anyway, I got her number and I'm going to try it Monday morning. First class is free so why not...I'm scared! I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Awesome... Give it all you got and have fun. Post up the workout you guys do.

I almost died today. That class is brutal! They showed me some moves (I don't remember any names) and I've learned that I'm not coordinated. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I actually worked out for the entire class. The last 15-20 min kicked my butt. There were 5 stations (jump rope, walking lunges, sit ups, push ups and pull up ring rows or something like that) and you had to do each one for 60 seconds w/ 15 seconds rest in between...had to do all that 3 times! It was hard! I didn't know it, but I went to the girls class so I'm not sure if they had us doing the same stuff as the guys...either way, it sucked (LOL), but I did enjoy my Crossfit experience in a sick sorta way. Oh and CH3NO2, you're lookin good btw!

Will you be going back for more or did you sign up? It sounds crazy! My wife wants to try it out. I wouldnt mind trying to, ill bet you can get shredded in no time at all!

No I won't be signing up. I just wanted to try it out. Maybe in the future because I did like it...and still hurting today btw. I love training with the hubby so that's my priority. I wouldn't be able to do both. My work schedule changes every month, not to mention I work day shift and The Dude works evening so it's hard enough to keep a routine. If anyone wants a challenge, thn try it out cuz it's crazy stuff. I didn't throw up, but I was looking for the trash can just in case.

A friend of mine here in FL is looking to open up a CrossFit gym. From purely a profit standpoint it looks like it'd be a great concept with memberships in the monthly range from $150-200 a month + . But I was talking with an acquaintance in the gym yesterday and He brought up a few great points.

1> Doing compound/multi-joint exercises such as cleans and deads in under a certain time isn't good b/c as your striving to increase your reps in a certain amount of time, your form can slip.
2> The results that many people get from CrossFit initially they'd also get from most any good routine that combines proper diet, strength training, flexibility and cardio.
3> If your primary goal is to loose bodyfat and get really shredded then great or if you're looking to switch things up b/c you've 'plateaued' then its a good idea. Beyond that He posed the question..do you ever hear of any professional athletes that do crossfit? nope

It really got me thinking..and now doing research! lol

I have skipped this entire week. Besides I worked 15 hours on Monday, helped a friend who was in the ER with him until nearly midnight on Tuesday, and my right shoulder is killing me. I think I have a slight AC separation. I cannot ever grab a cereal bowl out of the kitchen cabinet that is just over eye level. I am eating Alleve like its going out of style and its not helping. I have no idea what I did. I did a cross fit workout last Friday. Had no issues and by Friday night I was in some major pain. Its gotten worse and is very painful in the AM when I first wake up. No way I could make it through a crossfit workout without doing more damage to it.

Sucks to be hurt. I was making good progress. Got to listen to my body and take it easy for a little bit.

Waiting for my IGF to arrive. Hoping it gets me back on the road. I've been doing nothing and hate it. I feel like a sack of shit.

I am going to go back to the gym and a regular lifting routine and get back into doing 1-2 days of crossfit a week if my shoulder comes back around.
