Got some bad news today

Big Beef

New member
During a scheduled dr visit, I decided to get his opinion on all these shoulder issues I'm having. He USED to do some weight training himself, which I did not know til now. I don't hardly ever go to the dr, so I figured I would just ask him what I should do while I was in there.

I told him what was going on with it & after he had me do a couple movements for him, my shoulder made a loud pop & moved while my arms were extended in front of me. Obviously, a shoulder is not supposed to do that. He said that was a lot of movement in my shoulder & immediately scheduled me for an mri. He thinks my labrum is tore & said some other things about my rotator cuff, but it was hard to follow all his medical terms honestly.

I know that some of you all on here have had similar issues with your shoulders or at least know someone who has. I know he knows his shit & he seemed pretty confident it would result in surgery. If they do have to cut on me, what does this mean for me lifting weights afterwards? Specifically going heavy & will I be able to? I put this off for about 10 years becuase I figured I would end up having to get surgery. Guess I gotta just suck it up & deal with it...

Man that sucks. Keep us updated on what you find out. My shoulders are both shot and torn but I just have to go light and do the best that I can.

Yep that sucks. I would get a second opinion. Too many Drs are too quick to recommend surgery. If it come down to it get it done and get back at it.

Sorry to hear about that, man. I've been lucky in that I have never really had any shoulder problems. It probably wouldn't hurt to get two different opinions, but, it sounds like it will need to be corrected with surgery. That is in by no way normal and does not sound like something that can be manipulated by a chiropractor or a physical therapist. It sounds like something that will need to be repaired. But, just to be sure, get two different opinions.

Thanks fellas & I appreciate the advice. I've always had a lot of motivation & drive to hit the weights, so not matter what happens... I'll be hitting it hard again! Just don't know how much of my current strength & size is gonna be around after all this & if I'll be able to lift weights in the 3 to 5 rep range again, without risk of injury.

I also have shoulder issues. I've done physical therapy but It doesn't help much. Steve Maxwell (MMA strength and conditioning coach) says doing body weight hangs with palms facing out is a cure all if it's not bad enough that surgery is a must. He mentioned an orthopaedic surgeon (can't remember the name off hand) that stopped doing surgeries all together. Another option may be stem cell injections. Best of luck man. Shoulder injuries suck

Mine popped for months. Any tear can heal with a tag on it. When joint is inflamed or dry it gets stuck between just reaching in cabinet and pain intense move back and loud pop!!!
The way I deal with it is rest and don't use AI's estro too low can ruin joints!!!

I use something to stimulate healing like anavar or primo low test hgh and other healing peptides like ipamorelin, cjc1295
My shoulder is noe better than ever but I don't push that hard anymore.
I go heavy enough then work for fatigue.
The worst thing to do is let joint do nothing. But I went easy on bench. Shoulders, couldn't even flex that bicep.

Drs all push for surgery, I have over came some things they told me I wouldn't.

I know when it's time when I can't go to work at all then it's time for surgery.

Pct is bad for this. Testosterone make tendons weak then during pct is it horrible until we have enough test to have estro and get joints right again.
Estro good for joints test elevated with an AI keeping messed up ratio to testosterone will tear u up.

10mg nolvadex mast and proviron estro control
Even better I use less bulkers and worry about estro less and chances of lowering too much don't occur!!

My personal experience and research

Right on man. This was going on long before I considered even doing gear & I am not taking any ai's. I took a whole year off from weight lifting back in 2011 & as soon as I started hitting the weights again, it flared up bad! I've got a good tolerance for pain & that is the only reason I've put up with it this long, but enough is enough.

The dr I see is usually against surgery & he is the one that recommended me hold off on getting neck sugery to fix my hurniated disc, until it is untolerable. We are working extra shifts at work & I am not giving up the gym, so it is just going to get worse. No offense, but I don't think peptides & hgh are going to fix a tore labrum. I know guys that have had similar procedures done & have done everything you can think of to fix it, but it always seemed to result in surgery. None of em lifted heavy weight or were bodybuilders. Would like to know what the recovery process is like for a someone who plans to get back into heavy lifting.

Unfortunately, its really bad news for you man.. Wish you won't have any health problems and you will not be needed in any surgery.

If u didn't do an MRI, a pop could be alot of things. I am optimistic and my wife hears something totally different than I do when a Dr says it may. Or....

Think's u have and having by mri are not same. So don't see cup half full and be more optimistic!!!
If u still can lift weights alot if things will help and u have posted about adex and lose of sex drive wondering about eq.
Any injury related to joints and tendons steroids will greatly impact. You get stronger faster than tendons and joints can adapt. And estro is needed in these areas. If estro becomes too low your joints can grind become inflamed swell and popping will occur and when the nerve is impenged it will hurt bad in those positions!!!
I have had trouble since I was a little league pitcher with right shoulder and I am 42 and have had MRI with torn rotor cuff
And back then I had no insurance so....
I paid mri but lost insurance with job 15 years ago. I have insurance now. Our body is resealant!!! Kids go thru alot mine do teenagers too. A person in their 30's can never recover from these trampoline falls that bend body parts backward and I 2 weeks they good!!! Their hgh levels are at optimum level from growth repair and developmen.
Hgh heals all these tendons ligaments and joints.

I understand bro. I haven't taken an ai since before that eq post though. I stopped that because of the other issues. Actually, my shoulder was bothering me more before I killed my estrogen & when I was actually lifting heavier. I have not been dipping below 7 reps for several weeks on chest & arms & it has helped my shoulder a little. It still throbs at work & I just feel like I'll be better off not messing it up anymore. Since I'm in my early 30's, taking care of it now leaves me plenty of time to bounce back. At least I am hoping so... I'm not saying I have all the answers.

Besides, that dr has been good with really just about anything I've went to see him about. I'm just trusting his judgement at this point & hoping it doesn't come to surgery. He is not as quick as some to recommend surgery though. I will say that. I will be lifting very intense, until I find out what's going on, but not as heavy as I have in the past.

Just stay hopeful! I am just getting u to realize it may not be too bad. And these things contribute. Remember last year when I told u to be careful and I was suffering. Lol!
I hope it gets better. And I thought I was done. I slept with pillow under that arm on my back seemed to help mine. Lots of massages and ice.

I got lidocaine aspercreme used everyday and I tried to put things back into joints.
I did alot of stretches with those tube things. And I even got a buddy to pop may upper back and put hurt shoulder arm behind head and tug hand with other hand
Then same behind back.
Prednisone or medrol can help with inner swelling

Get second opinion and a third.

You will regain much function status post surgery, just takes time. Had mine worked on few times.

Dr B

Just try and rehab it yourself. Avoid anything that hurts. Let it heal. All basic stuff. I had my right shoulder cut on. It took 1 whole year for it to heal. It is good now.

I will stay optimistic. I'll get it checked out & just go with the flow. I will definitely keep you all updated with what I find out from the mri. Even if I eventually have to give it up for a short time, I will be right back at it, as soon as I get a chance. I'll never give up lifting for good!

Tell me what movements hurt the most.
From my issues I may be able to tell u what has helped me.

I have those stretch tube things, I stretch and used therapy with them.
Ice packs 3 times a day.
And sleeping on back with pillow under that arm to hold it up.
Getting re-alligned to chiropractor all are something's that help

Apparently, my cholesterol is shit too. They are following up on some blood work as well. She said "it's a mess". I'll have to do some research into that because I know pretty much nothing about cholesterol. The bad cholesterol is high & good cholesterol is low

Curious as well. I used to frequently bench heavy- high 400's on flat and incline twice a week. Shoulders just started screaming at me, training delts daily for 8 months didn't help either I imagine. I had been stuck benching 135 for a couple of months and now feel 300's are back on the table after a proper warm up.
