Heel spur

Hey strangers! Life's been crazy for us unfortunately so I've been MIA for quite some time. My question for y'all is has anyone here had a heel spur? If so, how long did it take to heal? Did you have surgery to remove it or did it get better on it's own? My foot was bothering me for two months before I gave in and went to the Dr's. He took X-rays and that's of course when I found out the cause of my pain. He said it's a good size one and gave me stretching exercises and told me to get a certain type of insoles which I'll be ordering in the next day or so. It's been almost three months and I can't do any cardio or leg exercises that involves pushing with my heel. So aggravating and hard to stay motivated at the gym. Not to mention the pain from just walking around. If anyone has had the surgery, how long is the recovery phase and how long till you were back to normal as far as cardio, squat, etc. Also, any issues after surgery? Thanks in advance guys/ladies!

what exactly is a heel spur? Is it a crack in the bone or somehting?
I googled it, lol...
"A heel spur is a pointed bony outgrowth of the bone of the heel (the calcaneus bone). They are attributed to chronic local inflammation at the insertion of soft tissue tendons or fascia in the area. Heel spurs can be located at the back of the heel or under the heel, beneath the sole of the foot."
Mine is beneath the sole. It hurts to walk and of course pushing off with my heel. A squat for example, the thought makes me cringe...lol  Some are smaller growths that can be painless, but lucky for me (HA) the Dr said mine is a pretty good size.

No problem. Cant complain. Couple little ones running around now. I took some time off. Not willingly but just got a new home gym set up and easing back into it.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'll give the KT tape a try and let y'all know, but I hope nobody ever has to deal with this. If I were a couch potato it wouldn't be so bad, but it interferes with my leg workout and cardio so in that regard it's way more frustrating than painful. Thanks again CH3NO2.

yeah doesn't sound fun hun! Let us know how that Tape stuff works out for ya though, as I'm curious

The tape is not an overnight cure. in like 2005-2006 I had plantar fascitis so bad It took several minutes of severe limping around in the morning before the pain would subside so I could put on a shoe. Back then I had to use regular white athletic sports tape to tape my foot. Now the KT tape is the way to go. I used the tape for a couple months and it cured the pain. Its a slow process.

Since the first time I had this issue I've had it come back a couple times but never as bad as the first time. Each time I'll tape my foot and in a few weeks its all better. Good lick Silk.
