John Romano The Media & Steroids. or Show me the bodies lol,

"Where are the bodies?" On the muscular development forum about 2 or 3 years ago, former Mr. Olympia competitor Shawn Ray posted a list of about 10 well known bodybuilders who died at an early age from suspected steroid abuse or diuretic abuse. I don't recall all the names, but Matt Mendenhall and Edourad Kawak were a couple. And Sonbaty Nasser was recent.
Then there is the case of Steve Mihelich, Mr America & Mr. Universe of the mid 70's. He gives his story on a You-tube video. He was quoted as saying he would do or take anything to reach the top. Since anadrol was the most powerful drug at that time, that was probably his drug of choice. He said in the interview that he had 2 large tumors in his liver that had to be removed. He had a heart attack and a stroke before age 50. He destroyed both his kidneys and had a kidney transplant. His health was so bad he finally committed suicide at age 62.
There is a story in the Dec. 2008 issue of Mus. Dev. Mag. about the USA lightweight champ Joe Pearson's death at age 39. He was actually one of Dave Palumbo's clients. Palumbo reported it to the author of the article John Romano. Pearson was working out at his gym in Kennewick, Wash. when he collapsed and died of a massive heart attack. An autopsy showed that 3 of his coronary arteries were completely clogged with plaque. He also had an enlarged heart. The article said he always passed his drug tests, but could have been using orals like anavar and dianabol, which clear quicker than injectibles.
There is an article in the Oct. 2009 Mus. Dev. Mag. about a study done on men who used anavar at 20 mg. a day for 2 months. Blood cholesterol levels were substantially skewed by anavar. HDL levels(good cholesterol) were decreased by 31.8%. At the same time, levels of LDL(bad cholesterol) were increased by a staggering 41.2%. Long term use of this drug is a recipe for a heart attack.
My own experience with anavar was 20 mg. a day for 10 weeks. My total cholesterol before using was 165. I had it tested right after going off and it was 310. I completely lost interest in anavar or any other oral steroid after that.
The fact about steroids is that used for a short time at low dosages probably will not do much harm to the body. Used at high dosages over a long period of time will lead to serious and even life threatening problems.

Theres steroid use and abuse. Like the video said, AAS dont leave any smoking guns. So really theres no 100% positive evidence, merely anecdotal.

Speaking as a chemist - I never understood the vilification of steroids. Acetaminophen can *kill* you...in hours. There is nearly no such thing as a toxic dose of steroids. Sure - long term abuse *could* make you sick and cause you to die young. Not nearly as likely as abusing tobacco, or alcohol....which are controlled, but legal. Oh, wait, there isn't any state with high-powered lobbyists where a large chunk of the income comes from steroid production - unlike, say Virginia - which fights against *any* measure by the government to restrict tobacco sales.

Any government that claims the reason for banning something is for the health of the population, but permits the sale of alcohol and tobacco has no moral leg to stand on - it is purely a control motive, *not* a health one.

i just dont argue anymore just smile and walk away and the funny thing is same guy comes again sometimes after few weeks or months lol and ask if i do hgh or test only what u recommend lol hahhahhaha
yeah right bitch , eat ur vegies on time lol

There is another body builder who died recently of heart failure. His name was Mike Matazzaro. He last competed in the 2001 Mr. Olympia and finished last. He had 2 heart attacks while in his mid 30's. Near the end he was a living vegetable. He had only 20% heart function and could barely walk. He had a Facebook page and a You-tube video where he blames anabolic steroids and eating large amounts of red meat for his heart failure. This is smoking gun evidence for steroids causing his death. It is the only logical explanation. he dosen't say which ones he took , but it's a good bet it was orals like anavar. It would be great if these guys would list which ones they took. It would be easier to pin point the cause. For anyone interested in heart health , the research shows that anavar is one of the most dangerous anabolics out there. Heart disease is the number 1 killer of adults in the US. Anavar just exacerbates the problem.

"Where are the bodies?" Well, I just listed some. John Romano's and Palumbo's credibility come into question when they knew of this light weight champs death of a massive heart attack at age 39. That was before he made the statement "where are the bodies". Palumbo is pro steroid use and he must have advised Pearson on what to take. In my opinion this is smoking gun evidence. Pearson obviously never monitored his heart health and it cost him his life.

Lyle Alzado who died many yrs ago also blamed AAS for his cancer. However his Dr went on record as stating AAS had nothing to do with his death. I would think one would become very self rightous about something like this and blame the perfect scapegoat: steroids

I dont bother arguing anymore w/my friends, they beleive what they want anyway. I have one friend who is morbidly obese and smoked for decades rip on steroids, I just let him rant and say "sure" and "so they say" and "yep thats what the media says" and roll my eyes.

The media has once again done a great job
