alot of pros do get those, and im actually due for one myself.
i think it would def help in the sense of muscle recovery, streching, and growth...
but when to have it done is a good question... i could imagine right after the workout might not be the best idea, like you said CRG, a few hours later makes more sense
My girl gives me swedish massages alot, I swear she keeps me loose and my recoverytime to a minimum.
I've read about the benefits of deep tissue massage for muscle growth, but what about a massage a couple hours after training to help stretch the fascia, etc? Do you think that would be beneficial or could it have negative results in some way?
LOL!!!!!i prefer a quick japanese rub and tug myself .
But seriously deep tissues are godlike i love them and wanna marry a massage therapist. Regular massages feel better for sure and im sure would help to some degree.
LOL!!!!!
I was engaged to a massage therapist for a long time, and I have to say I kick myself every day for letting her go. lol. I now get deep tissue massages 2-3 times a month. In fact, this weekend is my next.
My girl normally focuses on the lat/rhomboid/trap area. She spends about 45-50 minutes on my back/glutes, then another 10-15 on my neck/traps with me on my back. Then she stretches me out pretty good, so by time I get into the chiro's office, I'm limber, loose, and he can pop the shit out of me and get me all lined back up. She usually complains that by time she's done with me, she's ready to go home because she had to work so hard and dig so deep. But I have to give it to her, and CH3NO2 can back me up on this, because I turned him on to her, for a little girl (who happens to be smoking hot) she can dig and apply incredible amounts of pressure. She's made me stop breathing a few times.Do you just pick a bodypart and go for that or do you get a quick one full body style? They normally have to spend like 30 minutes just on my back because i have so much shit in there ie nots etc.

That's what I'm talking about. Swedish is just a normal relaxing massage right? I know the deep tissue is good for you but it's so uncomfortable I would rather get a Swedish massage.
Bump for more input.
Do your massage therapists talk to you? When I go (which is rare... I really would love to make an appointment soon!), I want to go and relax. I don't want to talk... I went to Massage Envy once and the kid was trying to talk to me about music and my ink. Ahhh, shut up! I'm here to relax! When I started giving shorter responses, he finally got the hint and the second half of the therapy was much quieter. I prefer females though. Little emo boy was decent, but I rather have a woman digging into me.
The other funny thing is that people think because I'm small that I'm sensitive but I like when they dig deep and apply alot of pressure. Ever since I got the boobs, I need a towel to prop between them since it's awkward to have them being squished onto the table, but once I'm set up and comfy, it feels soooooooo good. I could care less about the rest of my body if they just focus on my back the entire time.
First, Steph, your avatar is awesome!!
Exactly! There are some that you don't want to talk to, and you just want to relax and let them work. Although, I don't know about your massages, but for the majority of mine, there's not much relaxing, because it hurts so bad as she's digging down trying to massage my lung. lolHa, thanks... wish I could say that it was me! Maybe one day!!
I guess it depends who's working on you. If you're a regular client, I could see how the normal chitchat could work its way into conversation. And I get how that could happen when you first meet a therapist, but for the most part, I just want to relax...
