Wild Sign Defenseman
The Minnesota Wild have signed veteran defenseman Sean Hill, despite the fact that he will miss the first 19 games this season after violating the league's drug policy.
The one-year deal is worth 475-thousand dollars.
Hill is the first NHL player suspended for violating the policy. He played for the New York Islanders last season and was suspended for 20 games just hours before their Game 5 playoff loss to Buffalo in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
The Wild said Hill acknowledged using a doctor-prescribed testosterone booster approved by the NHL. But he tested positive for the anabolic steroid boldenone, which is banned.
