I always use a shoulder width grip if I'm tarting delts. If I want to hit my traps I will scoot my hands in to about a thumbs length apart.
 
If I don't find the right spot on the bar it'll kill my wrists. I love doing these, but it's almost more painful than helpful
 
I love these on a straight bar. It's my main mass builder for shoulders. I go a little wider than shoulder width so at the top of the movement my wrists, elbows, and shoulders form a perfect right angle. My shoulders have improved tremendously since last year.
