I'll chime in here, mainly because I have some information that may have been lost to the depths of time....DNP was actually *prescribed* for weight loss up until the 50s....I had a materia medica of the era (which I have since lost
) which had dosing and side effects, etc.
Its use was stopped, as was that of methamphetamine for similar purposes in the 80's because of the same exact reason - people are stupid. "If one pill a day is good, 2 is better" logic. As a chemist, I've handled the stuff, and yes, if you get it in your system, you can run quite hot
But it *does* work, and does have risks. If you're dehydrated past a certain point, the metabolic pathway your body will take to break down acetometophen (tylenol) will kill you. Doesn't happen often, maybe a couple of times per year, but it does still happen, so the comparison to aspirin above isn't exactly fair - heck, you can be fatally allergic to aspirin, not know it, take one and die.
Like all powerful compounds (think insulin, for example) not knowing what you're doing will kill you, or at least have that risk. There have been bodybuilders/fitness models/muscle vid guys (zyzz and brett mycles come to mind) whose deaths have been contributed to by stuff as simple as ephedrine use, usually due to the "more is better" mentality...
Just my 2 cents....
