Well, my parents have gotten into their mid 50s and have both decided to get into shape. So they asked if I minded helping them out with what to eat, cardio tips and the such. These are the same family members that bought a Total Gym XLS because my dad is an infomercial sucker lol. But to their credit they've both been using this and seeing results. They're only doing that as far as any type of "lifting," but they're both making strides. Which isn't hard when you did nothing to begin with though. I'm kind of proud of them, my dad has come down from 235 to 201 in a little over 3 months. He's actually listening to my advice with the exception of getting him to eat 5-6 meals a day. He's being stubborn there, but he's been eating 3 clean meals a day with snacks (fruits, beef jerky, nuts) in between. That's about the biggest thing I can gripe about with him. He's stuck at 201 and I've told him that simply getting in more meals will get him to break that 200 threshold. My mom just started into everything about a month ago and she's not seeing any weight loss weight, but she has been noticing that she's tightening up (losing the flab in the tricep area, waist is getting thinner....). She's happy with the visual changes, but like a typical woman is gauging things off the scale a little too much. She's only lost 2 pounds, but I've tried explaining that it's typical to gain weight at first because of the addition of muscle and that you have to go off the mirror first and foremost and to forget the damn scale. Overall I'm happy that they've asked me to help them out as needed instead of paying some stupid shit head a bunch of money to just run them through the same thing their last 10 clients did.
Has any of the trainers out there ever been approached by family members? I'm no longer a trainer, but I still find that this is the hardest set of clients I've ever worked with simply because I feel over scrutinized. It's one of those things where you know you'll get to hear about how bad you suck if it doesn't work lol
