Using chains for training...

I've really been considering making some. I know that I can get the chains easily and I can find someone to weld them to a collar, but I'm just not sure how much I want to go with. I was thinking a pair of 25#, 50# and 75# chains so it'd total a set of 50, 100 and 150 pounds worth of chains. The problem I'm facing right now is that I'm not going to be dragging in 150# worth of chains everytime I wanna use them so I'm not sure what to do.
 
This is a west Virginia thing, haha. What about ropes? Seems like you could get the same weight with less gasket. I really don't know though, it depends on your goals.. should be great for strength

Yea I'm going for strength at this point so this is something that'll help out tremendously

Oh and no my gym won't let me keep a bunch of chains there even if everyone had access to them because only a few would utilize them

That would suck lugging them around. I would think there would be some benefits for size as well. I'd like to give them a shot some day. I'm surprised your gym doesn't have a little closet where they could store them
 
They do, but I hate to ask the owner because he's an older Italian and everything that doesn't benefit him is just a nuisance. And I just don't wanna hear the old prick argue or bitch that I just asked him to do me a favor. Hell he'd probably build me a small box to place them in then charge me the price of the supplies and a storage fee based on square footage lol
 
I used to lift with some power lifters about 6 years ago and it works. We would train with chains one week, bands, one week, and board pressing another, I believe we did them every 2 weeks and then maxed and it help with the exploding up on your bench.
