Great thread. I think people forget that AAS have legitimate medical applications way beyond bodybuilding.Personally I started with TRT at 32 because my natural test was at 280 ng/dL — barely functional. Doctor put me on 150mg/week and it changed my life. Energy, focus, motivation, libido — everything came back. From there I started learning about cycles and blast/cruise but my primary reason has always been quality of life, not competing on stage.Other non-bodybuilding reasons I've seen in this community:→ COMBAT SPORTS: MMA guys and boxers running moderate test with Anavar for strength without excessive mass gain. They need power-to-weight ratio, not size.→ LAW ENFORCEMENT / MILITARY: Guys who need to maintain high physical standards year-round. TRT+ keeps them operational without the crash of natural hormonal fluctuation.→ ANTI-AGING: Men 40+ running low-dose test + HGH 2-3 IU for skin, sleep, recovery, and cognitive function. Not trying to get huge — just trying to age better.→ INJURY RECOVERY: Nandrolone at 100-200mg/week purely for joint healing and collagen synthesis. I've run therapeutic Deca twice for shoulder issues and it was genuinely medicinal.→ ENDURANCE ATHLETES: Cyclists and runners using Equipoise at low doses for red blood cell production and recovery between training sessions.→ MENTAL HEALTH: This one gets overlooked. Optimized testosterone levels have a direct impact on depression, anxiety, and motivation. Some guys are essentially self-medicating what should be prescribed TRT.The bodybuilding community gets all the attention but I'd bet the majority of AAS users worldwide aren't bodybuilders at all. They're regular guys optimizing their health and performance for their specific life demands.
