Just what he said. If you don't want to "cheat" the weight up, then seated. One thing to really concentrate on is fighting the weight coming down. A lot of people will take the weight up and just let it come down too quickly, but if you fight the negative, you'll get more out of it.

I like standing just for stabilizer reasons, but I can see how it would give you more "isolation" if you were seated. Maybe I'll try that out next week.

I used to do them standing, but my delts need lots of help so I recently started doing them on an incline bench to provide a bit more resistance. I think I'll try mixing it up and add seated in there as well.

I normally do about 6 sets of side raises. Ill do the 50's bringing them slightly behind my back on the way down then force them up for about 10-12, but yesterday I through my whole shoulder game off and im sore as a mofo

Machine Press- 4 sets
DB Press- 85-10, 90-10, 95-6 then dropset 45-failure on last set
Seated side raise- 35-15 x 3 sets
Pre-Set bar Forward Raises superset w/ light strict ass standing side raise x 3 sets
1 arm light standing arnolds just to burn em out!

Ya boy is hurtin right now, cant even bring the spoon of oats to my mouth without being in pain

I do mine seated, Dorian Yates style. It doesn't take much weight at all, if you do them correctly. Like 20lb dumbbells and my lateral heads are blown up and screaming.

Last night was shoulders for me, and my workout was as follows:
Side lateral raises, 5 sets
Rear delts on the reverse pec deck, 4 sets
Barbell Shrugs, 5 sets
Shoulder press, 4 sets
Front db raises, 4 sets supersetted with front bb raises for 4 sets.

By time I got done, I couldn't lift my arms to wipe the sweat from my forehead. Then I did another 22 mins of cardio on the elliptical with the arm gimmicks, so I had to push/pull for that whole time, too. My shoulders are still feeling a little smoked today!

i pefer standing over seated

and lately ive been doing that old school tom platz motion when u lay on an incline bench and do halfs, probley the sickest burn ive ever felt!!

I've tried those before, and they will definitely smoke your delts!
