Trump

I'm just glad political discussion isn't banned on this forum like it is on some others.

People complained it made them uncomfortable so any political thread gets deleted. [emoji849]

Too many people online turn into keyboard gangsters about their political views and that's why most don't allow it. If you can't have intelligent discussions about your beliefs without name calling you don't belong in the discussion. I'm glad we can talk about things here also.

Dude this is the absolute BEST FORUM there is. We ain't deleting shhhhhhhhhhittttt!
haha We should be able to have discussions of every nature, and luckily we do.
Presser and I have been on pretty opposite sides of discussions where we wanted to dead hand each other in the coin purse, but it doesn't get deleted. Everyone gets their input in, and we discuss

It doesnt take a political science major to instantly guage a persons objectivity within a few seconds of mentioning the name Trump. If they start spouting off insults left & right, I dont even bother to have an intelligent convo w them. And really same for Hillary before the election, remember the old saying:
Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.....how true

I gotta think with all the press and PR he gets, he really has to be possibly the most famous person in the world at least now. Maybe in the last 100 yrs. Maybe this is also what he wants,

I highly doubt he ran for POTUS for fame.

Prob not, that just a fringe benefit. Like him or not he does have an ego. I'm amazed at the amt of hatred there is for him, along the lines of ISIS. I've heard several people talk that want him dead.

Oh for sure he has an ego. But frankly that's part of what gives him his advantage over doing what's right despite what people think. Shit lol wanting him dead is ALL I see liberals post about him. But it's certainly not a majority no matter what CNN says.

Im not amazed at the hatred just look at the way the 98% liberal media covers him. Most of it is flat out lies and the rest is half truths. If you sat down 10 people that knew nothing about him and made them watch the liberal media reports on him all 10 would finish the watching session hating him. They are picking apart everything he says then twisting it in a way to cause animosity and please their watchers. This is great for conservatives though because the moderate Dems are going to get fed up with it over time and flip. Trump will never let up on them because he's a pitbull and I welcome that after 8 years of the chihuahua. I'm waiting to see how it shakes out after the executive orders slow and legislation begins in the house and senate.

Also if California declares themselves a sanctuary state they better get ready to lose billions cause Trump is going to bury them. Trump can use that money to build the wall though so it's a win win.

California seceding is the biggest fucking joke I have ever heard haha.
Like Texas while Obama was in, now Cali while Trump is in... so fucking dumb
YOU MOTHERFUCKERS HAVE NOOOOOOO WATER! Good luck.
Even if a State did secede, and did really well, built there infrastructure made it the bomb ass place to be, we would take it back, with ease. Good luck on having a blockade everywhere minus Mexico, pretty sure they don't have copious amount of water to be feeding these fucks haha

It's amazing how divided the country has become. Everyone is either far left or far right these days. There is no middle ground, no moderates, no independents. Even the media is biased. The judges are partisan. Every issue in America today pretty quickly breaks into the same two sides. So much hate between the two sides. I don't love Trump, but I certainly hate Obama, Hillary, Pelosi, and Reid. Trump basically represents my beliefs, but his methods are quite reckless. He needs to stay off Twitter and stop getting drawn into pissing matches with everyone who voices an opinion about him.

I actually agree with you regarding Twitter.

However, Trump is not "Far Right". As a matter of fact, the platform of bringing manufacturing and other skilled labor jobs back to the US, or keeping the few that remain here, is actually traditionally a darling issue of the left. This is a very interesting thing to bring up here. I sometimes work with some union guys in the power plant where I work. Pipefitters, carpenters, millwrights, etc. A good friend of mine and his son are both union electricians. These trade unions (and every trade union) ALWAYS officially back the Democrat candidate. They pour millions into the campaign coffers of the Democrats. The members - or at least the apprentices - are made to hand out fliers supporting the Democrat candidate during an election. Yet, ALL of the guys I personally spoke to about this voted for Trump! I aksed one of the guys if he knew how the general union population voted as a whole, and he told me it was about 50/50. Prior to the election, the UAW (United Auto Workers) president spoke in support of Trump after meeting with him. The UAW is another of the trade unions tjat has been steadfastly supporting of the Democrats for as long as I can remember.

My point is, Trump's platform is NOT "far right", as the leftist media would have us believe. This is yet another complete fabrication. Trump's platform is actually a combination of traditionally left and right issues - therefore by definition "moderate".

So, it is pretty funny that the truly far left media and those in the far left camp are actually successfully convincing a significant portion of tje poulation that Trump is "far right". If you think about it, if people were to shut out what the far left media is screeching about and instead focus on the things that are important to THEM, Trump really is doing SOMETHING that almost everybody should be able to be happy about!

I agree with Ox totally that he should dump Twitter. And basically quit mouthing off. However, I am VERY happy tjat he is taking action on many of his campaign promises rapidly and not backing down from the Mexico wall.

I have to retract what I just said about Trump should stay off Twitter. I just read an editorial in the lkcal newspaper that convinced me that he should keep it up. This was not the intent of the editorial. The jist of it is that Trump is bypassing the traditional media, and essentially that he he delegitimizing it.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, the mainstream media is already illegitimate. So, "delegitimizing" it can't be laid at Trump's feet. But you can't blame the guy for going around them.

Hell, the mainstream media was ridiculing Trump during the campaign because he had only spent a fraction of the $ "Slick Hilly" spent - on mainstream media advertisements - and declared he could never win because of this. Look what happened! He won without their help. Matter of fact, he won IN SPITE of the media.

The idea of a president creading his own media outlet isn't new. It's very old, actually. In another comparison to Andrew Jackson - and this is my own, not something I got from the media - Jackson started his own newspaper when he was in office. I disremember the name of it - I read a Jackson biography a number of years ago, probably 10, but the name of the paper escapes me. But the point is, he launched his own paper in order to take his message dorectly to the people.

Back then, newspapers were openly in support of one political party or another. There was a paper called "The Whig", an opposition (to Jackson) paper. Newspapers didn't pass themselves off as - or try to - "unbiased". If you wanted to know what the "other side" was thinking, you went and bought their paper.

Nowadays, the mainstream media tries to present itself as unbiased; as "the authority"; the sole possessor of the "facts". This is the biggest lie of all. They're full of shit.

So, good for Trump for yanking the rug out from under them. I do wish he'd learn what my Grandfather used to say, though: "Engage brain before putting mouth in gear!"

I was about to disagree with you about him staying off twitter till I scrolled down and saw this post. Yes he is bringing his message straight to the people and how transparent he is with everything, it's kind of refreshing. I do believe the tit for tat bs is tiresome but in my honest opinion the way the media is the tit for tat needs to happen. Remember all the negative press and nastiness towards Bush? He only fired back at the media two times in his entire Presidency and most will agree that it hurt him in the long run and diminished his Presidency.

Trump is passionate about his promises to his voters, how long has it been since we could say that about a President? I say full steam ahead and keep on draining the swamp baby.

Cali is so huge, if it were a seperate country it would have like the 8th largest economy, its population even more than Canada, its prob totally unmanagable.

That being said, really dumb question but seems like they have a somewhat large pond to the west of them, cant they build desalination plants like in the middle east?

The one thing about Cali that the majority of the people don't realize is that the entire state is being held up with Federal Dollars. Cut them off and the state is beyond broke. With all of their liberal policy's I am sure that the majority of business would leave then what would they have but beaches?

Exactly!! I call it keyboard activism, because it is always the jackasses who don't actually DO anything outside of "expressing themselves" online lol.

That said, I'm staying waaaaay out of this one, except to say the following: Trump is a monster, and Hillary and the DNC are all monsters. You guys really had a raw deal in this election (if you can even call it that?). We were all shocked when Trump got in, but I wasn't. Frankly, I would have likely voted for him too just to stick it to the establishment and stand up for the disenfranchised. I would have regretted it later, though. Clearly this man does not represent the best interests of the everyday American men and women who voted for him.

Bernie's my guy 100%. I wish Canada could trade Trudeau for him.

In regard to the bias of the liberal media, I'll agree there. A lot of what is said is valid, but obviously neglects or dismisses other sides, or skews/"spins" context. We get that up here too. It always reminds me of that episode of South Park where the Prius owners love the smell of their own farts. Liberal elitism - assuming moral high ground and using scholarly material and philosophy to back it up. Blows my mind that the right CAN play this game too, but always resorts to less effective ways to attack or defend against this. Of course, this only "proves" liberals right and makes matters worse. The result -- deeper polarization and the breakdown/divide of a nation. No one wins.

I think that when all is said and done, Trump will be a good president. The positive impact that he has made in the military along has been awesome. I just read that for the first time in 8 years there are Marines that are putting in to guard the White House, up until now they all had to be assigned as no one wanted the duty.

When you get down to the Paris Climate Agreement, it was all on the US. We paid billions, and had all of the regulations against us. I am not against clean energy but not at the cost of the American worker.
