back problems

So I'm going to stick a leg out and say this is probably common for most guys and gals here but in the past 2 months I've pulled my lower back. One of which was so bad I went to the er assuming it was a kidney problem. I never pull it on back days and it's usually stupid things like getting up after a set of dumbell flat presses or something of the like. I've been trying to prevent it been doing the foam roller more often. Heat pads things like that. I'm just pissed for having to cut workouts short because my back hurts
Is there anything some of you guys recommend to prevent this in the future it's starting to affect my day to day life.

stretching is all i know to help with prevention of this happening again, and i too had a bad back pull in high school, I went to e.r and all, i thought i broke my back, i couldn't even sit on toilet and wipe my ass , lol, i literally had to roll out of bed on to my knees and then stand up with the assistance of pushing off on the bed to stand up, so i been there brutha, as have many guys here , the back is real tricky man!

But to answer your question, the only thing i know to help heal it is rest and to prevent it from happening again is maybe starching and warming up slowly!

Thru the years I injured my back numerous times. And 2 years ago I saw my ortho and he showed me a horrible X-ray.
it showed no discs in my lumbar region, zero, nadda. So I went to a neurosurgeon and had surgery 1 year ago. 5-level fusion. I have fully recovered and no pain is present. Yippee! I am returning to the gym at the start of the year. Yippee!
i will share with you that over time you will have the same issue as I had. I wouldn't have done anything differently. Honestly, I created great gains doing heavy squats, heavy deads, and heavy rows. It was good times. Now my return will be very cautious training. You should train carefully and do strict form on everything. Work on your flexibility everyday. Don't rely on drugs to mask the pain. Be smart brutha.

The above X-Ray is the side view of the fusion. 14 screws, 2 in the pelvic bones, they are 4 inches long.

Geez man that's insane! That's like seeing a baby and not wanting kids type of thing. Yea I mean in all reality for the past three years I haven't stretched once. Hardly get massages from the lady. And rarely foam roll. So I mean it's pretty much all my doing. I'm starting to implicate it more and it's been fantastic. I have noticed after like 10 minutes of stretching I can't really lift as heavy though for some reason

That's what I'm gonna start trying to do bro. I can't handle walking out of the gym all hunch backed lookin like an 80 yr old man and I'm not even half that lol I think I'm still to much in that "get in, fuck shit up, get out". Type of mentality and it's gonna end up doing real damage lol

fuck that X-ray scares me considering i need a fusion c4 through c7 yuck

After my sciatica finally got resolved, I begin every back workout doing back extensions on a ham/glute apparatus to warm up.

I've noticed now that I've been stretching before, after and at one point or another every day it's been great. Backs doing much better pumps have been nicer my hamstrings and lower back have been losing up a ton I can now touch farther than half way down my shin now lol

I seem to hurt my back every 6 months or so, whether I need it or not... The first time I can ever remember it happening, I was doing front squats to a bench when I was about 19. Went from the gym to the hospital, felt like someone stabbed me. Nothing showed up on xrays then, but ever since I've had issues periodically. I've no doubt made it worse over the years because of various things.

In addition to stretching, I find if I keep up with ab training - which I hate doing - my back feels better. The abs support the lower back quite a bit, apparently. My wife can attest to that as well. She would get major low back pain from standing around for any length of time. After working with a trainer for a few months who would have her do abs regularly as well as 'core' exercises, we went to Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats, which involves lots of standing around... She had ZERO low back pain aftwr being on the Salt all day.

Yea I've heard I should focus on some core stuff more often. I'm the same way though I really don't like abs because I'm not in high school thinking it's the only "get laid" muscle other than arms and it's just damn tedious

Seriously I have had 4 back surgeries and everything else in between. The two best things you can do for you r back is swimming or pilates reformer.,
