Guard your guns, boys!

I think the point that is trying to be made is that being a free society is exactly that, a free society. Everyone has the right to make money and have no one tell them how much is too much. We have the right to eat whatever we want. And to get to the point we have the right to protect ourselves without any limitations.

To compare an American society to a Canadian or european one is not a fair comparison. Canada has a population of 33million compared to Amaericas 314millions. So the rate would sky rocket.

We are a different society and the conversation and debate will continue until we turn blue in the face. We just need to respect to disagree that there is more than likely no correct argument.

You are just flat out wrong. And I never disrespected your country. I just said I dont care where you are from and I dont care that you dont appreciate it. Thats what living in a free society is all about. I'm free to insult you and you're free to get but hurt all you want.

Again you are wrong. Look at the Norway killing where the guy killed 77 people and shot over 150. Norway has WAY more strict gun laws that the US and that is over twice the size of the largest mass killing in the US. Most of the people he shot were children.

Fact are facts and this is a terrible terrible event but more people will die today from car accidents, drownings, bee stings and accidental drug over doses than from being shot with a gun. The facts are that the media sensationalizes these kinds of actions for a political agenda.

You and I see the role of govt from different spectrums. Our rights do not come from govt and are not given to us from govt. Our rights are natural in nature and we as citizens lend govt certain powers and abilities. The largest atrocities in history are at the end of the barrel of a gun that governments had the power of. Here is just a small list of govt atrocities that could have been prevented if the citizens of these countries were able to protect themselves.

Pol Pot in Cambodia est 5 million killed.

Mao Tse Dung in China 40-60 million killed.

Stalin in Russia 20-60 million killed.

Hitler in Europe 6 million killed.

Tojo killed over 5 million people in China.

If these people had the ability to protect themselves from their governments by owning weapons then perhaps the world today would be a different place. Our founders knew that in order to have peace that the citizens needed to be able to arm themselves.

Here is a famous quote from Thomas Jefferson. I dont expect you to know who he is.

"When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

Oh .. I wonder how many more lives would have been lost by another idiot shooting up the theater in a smoke filled room . The act was random and by someone with obvious problems but tighter laws might have prevented it . No guarantee but worth ... No pun intended .... A shot ....

I can show you case after case after case where an armed citizen stopped a crime. I defy you to ever show me a case where an armed citizen shot an innocent bystander stopping a crime.

Want to make that bet? Again you are just talking out your ass. Read a history book and get back to me.

Clearly you are a " hothead " !

A little frightening since you posses so many guns . I ceased paying attention after you not only disrespected me by telling me you don't care where I come from but also shot your mouth off by not caring that I felt disrespected .
If it ever got to the point that the government or powers were attacking you I doubt that individual citizens would fare that well . I'm also pretty sure that it won't be a concern in your lifetime so your argument is wack . Paranoia .
You also are wrong about your " rights " ... Good luck on trying to talk rights to the cop that arrests you for speeding even though it's your right to own a Porsche and the car moves fast . You are misled to think that you have rights . All governments control your rights . Some more than others . You are lucky to have so many freedoms but you are not free to do anything you want . I think that's obvious .

It's a shame that you were so rude about my origins . We might have actually had an intelligent debate .

Btw . Thank you for your input . I do appreciate it . There is not a simple answer but he present situation is not working .

Either English is not your first language or you just need to take a reading comprehension class.

There is no debate. You are just wrong.

I know what I read .. Not a way to talk to somebody ... " I don't care where you are from " ... Rude and disrespectful ..

Tell all of the victim's families that the gunman had a right to collect those weapons . His rights overshadowed their right to be safe ..

It's getting pretty pointless guys. It's text, it's never going to come out how we want it sometimes.

Yes without a doubt he did have the right to collect those weapons. Fact is he broke no law in buying them. So using your flawed logic I should have my rights to protect myself and my property taken from me because he broke the law.

Again using your same logic, the next person that speeds and kills innocent people in the process I should have my car confiscated?

You are a very illogical person and your reaction to this tragic event is knee jerk. Facts are facts and the guy was perfectly within his rights to own these kinds of weapons right up until the time he shot the first victim. For his actions I should not be punished.

You seem to think you can legislate morality and you cannot. Guns do not kill people any more than spoons make people fat or brains make people smart.

Stop trying to advocate to my govt that my rights should be taken away and stick to your country and your archaic gun laws and leave me the fuck alone.

Sincerely Mr Hot Head.

I'll leave you alone with pleasure . You are boring me Mr Hot Head .. Yawn .. Discussion over .. Later " Bro " ...

Btw .. I can spend the whole night throwing insults at each other . I'm really good at it but I don't think Muscle Chemistry is about that ..

Difference is you care about being insulted I do not. You are a very ignorant, illogical, emotional and uneducated fool. You need to educate yourself on what a free society is all about.

Seriously ..... You are boring me with your insults .. I could throw them back but that would require me caring about you . I do not . We have a much more " free " country than yours . We have more equal rights and protections than you at the moment and we are way less influenced by your crazy Christian right . So you may want to climb off your arrogant mountain . You are not as free as you think .

Sorry boys but i'm Canadian and what the f* ck do civilians need with military rifles ? Who are you going to defend yourselves against . It's a deadly toy . I can see having a hunting rifle or a pistol for protection but when do you need a gun that can shoot multiple rounds ? You going to have 20 guys attack your house ? There have been so many killings by " nut jobs " lately .. Yes .. Anyone can get a gun illegally but at least it might prevent the shit that just happened this weekend .. Seriously ... Assault rifles ?

The right the bear arms for protection is fine . The right to be as armed as the military ... Not so much ..

Are you serious or are you being facetious? I'm hoping for the latter. The fact that you're Canadian shouldn't mean a thing. I've got a good friend in Calgary who thinks Canada has asinine gun laws and hates that he can't properly defend himself, his family, or his property while criminals carry all sorts of guns, because criminals don't give a shit about laws. I can kill just as many people with my revolver than I can with my shotgun or my so called assault rifle. In fact, I've got multiple confirmed kills with a vehicle. So I've killed more people with a truck than most people here have with a gun. So should they ban "off road vehicles" now? Your really don't make sense kid.
The government has far outgrown itself and has overstepped their bounds by a long way!!

When have you had to defend your home or property with a gun ? How many personal attacks have you had against you and your family ? What if your kids play with your gun while you are out of the house ? Just asking .

Yes .. The government has overstepped their boundaries by actually taking away freedoms but good luck on a modern day revolution . They would squash your ass before you even got started . All you can hope for is the democratic process and protection from invasion .

There may not have been a solution for the events that have happened this weekend . I do feel however if he had less access to military weapons and much more " red tape " and delays to purchase it might have had a different outcome . Although as you said ... Maybe he would have run them over as they left the theatre . He was a pretty messed up cookie

I have and that's when I was a cop and someone decided to pay me a visit with bad intentions.

I went to many home invasions, ex's breaking into the womans home and kills or beats them. Yes I've physically seen the end results, I've sat and wrote out the report, held a crying father when his daughter was rapped on her college campus. My wife see's this on a daily basis in her line of work to my friend so to question the necessity is futile.

Not far from us at all:

A 14-year-old Phoenix boy shot an intruder who broke into his home while brandishing a gun as the teenager watched his three younger siblings, police said.
The teen and his brothers and sisters were at home alone at their residence at 55th Avenue and Baseline when a woman rang the doorbell Friday. The teen didn't open the door because he didn't recognize her, Police Officer James Holmes said Saturday.
Soon after, the teen heard a bang on the door, rushed his siblings upstairs and got a handgun from his parent's bedroom. When he got to the top of the stairs, he saw a man breaking through the front door and point a gun at him.
The boy shot the 37-year-old man, who is in critical condition but expected to survive and be booked into jail.
Holmes said the suspect did not get a shot off. He declined to release his name until he is booked into jail.
The woman who rang the home's doorbell got away.
Holmes hailed the teen's actions and his parents for teaching the kids to never open the door to strangers.
"The police and indeed our community does not ever want to see a situation where a teenager of that age has to take a weapon to protect his family ... but this young man did exactly what he should have done," he said. "I'm not sure he gave full thought about what he had to do. He just acted."
Holmes said that the gun the teen grabbed was his father's, but did not know whether the boy had been trained to use it.
He said the family, whose names were not released, is declining to speak to reporters about the ordeal, saying that they "are all pretty traumatized."
"The dad was pretty much out of his mind with distress, officers couldn't even talk to him," Holmes said. "It's going to take them a while to recover mentally."
He said police don't yet know what the suspect's intentions were and that will be one of the first questions they ask him when he is well enough to talk.
"This was mid-block in a neighborhood, at 4:30 in the afternoon in summertime and children are there," he said. "They just took a heck of a gamble for this particular house, and we've got to try to figure out why."
Holmes added that the family is lucky that the teen acted so swiftly and effectively.
"As ugly as this is, and as much as this family is going through, we don't have injured children on our hands," he said.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Like I said earlier, we're 314 million people here, not everyone lives with good intentions.

Like I said earlier, we're 314 million people here, not everyone lives with good intentions.

The fact that you were a cop I would think you should give you more right than anyone to possess one . I am sure you went through extensive training on the handling and when to reach for your weapon . It's great that that story ended with the teen defending his family . In this case a pistol purchased for self defense is a good idea . Unfortunately in some situations I think criminals have taken the home owners weapons and used it on them . I also believe there are countless reports of kids accidentally killing kids with their parents weapons . Of course that was the carelessness of the owner in not securing the gun .
I am not arguing taking away present gun owners weapons . It would be impossible . I do however think that moving forward hunting weapons and guns for protection should be sold .. I just think the concept of selling a military weapon capable of firing multiple rounds at high speed is a little irresponsible . Especially with the number of crazies out there . I don't think anyone is going to be in a position where that kind of gun is needed . Seriously at the point when this happens . You are pretty much screwed unless you are fighting off zombie attacks

I've defended my home twice with a gun... The first time in 1989, when 2 assholes decided to rob my house and assaulted my girlfriend. They didn't know I was upstairs. I confronted and drew down on them as they were beating a 17 year old girl as one was talking about raping her. I put a round in the wall and screamed the next one that moves gets the next round in their head. They froze, my girl called the cops and they went to jail.
The second time was in 1991 when my cousins ex husband was beating her to a bloody pulp, which ended up putting her in the hospital for a week. I grabbed a side by side and put it to his head after I kicked him off of her.

My kids don't play with guns, because u taught them at the age of 5 what guns were and how to handle them. My son was 8 years old and putting rounds on paper at 25 feet in a 7 inch group. He's gotten better with age, btw. My kids know how to handle, clean, and utilize guns, and how to maintain a completely safe situation. It's all about education and proper upbringing.

Let me ask you this, since it seems to be your point of view... If 3 gay scumbags (aka the govt) wanted to rape you, are your just going to bend over and take it, or are you going to fight as hard as you can to protect your anal integrity? Answer honestly! The way you're talking, since the odds are in their favor, you'd just welcome the butt fucking.

Lastly... No amount of red tape will stop a criminal from being a criminal. It may slow them down, but it will never stop them.
