This discussion is obviously futile. Buckns I am glad that you believe in your country's system of Govt. here we do not want the Govt telling us what to do. We do not want them encroaching on our freedoms, and we do not want them interfering with our lifestyle. It is unnatural and I have never seen it benefit anyone but the garbage of society.
I see the people that get Welfare and Govt assistance. That is wonderful that you want a Govt to take your money and spend it as it sees fit. To tell you what you can and can't have.
I do not and the Constitution in which this country is based does not. The Federal Govt was never supposed to have the power that you see today. Corruption is rampant in this country especially in Govt. I don't want to pay disability to Proffessional alcoholics, but I am forced to do so. I don't want to pay convicted Felons section 8, welfare, food stamps, etc, but I am forced to do so. The direction of this country is clear. Firearm sales are going up as are ammunition sales. Yes, I will protect my family when tyranny comes to my door. I may not win, but I will die a fighter and a free man.
I don't know why you are trying to impose your beliefs when they are fundamentally flawed. Do you have any idea on the percentage of lawful firearm owners that go on to commit crimes?! It according to a study in 2006 by the FBI of all firearm related crimes it is a fraction of a percent. Facts, not hype.
I find it disheartening that a grown man in these tumultuous times would not only agree, BUT PREACH the virtues of a Govt that controls everything.
It is our right as American citizens to revolt and overthrow oppressive and tyrannical Govt.
I am saddened by this debate. I make no secret that I have multiple firearms including an AR15 with armor piercing rounds. Rounds that would have easily penetrated the vest of this piece of shit. I have thousands of rounds of ammunition. I have ballistic vests, food stores, and nearly everything I will need when the time comes to protect my family from the monster our Federal Govt has become. You are entitled to your opinion just as every member of this board is.

Sorry man but talk about paranoia . Have any of your family in the last 100 years had to fight their own government with weapons to protect their homes . Do u own any rocket launchers ? Do you have a bomb shelter ? At the point of war whether it be revolution or invasion the world is pretty much screwed . They will just drop a bomb on your head . The collection of military weapons is ridiculous .

You are presently employed and obviously doing well with matching corvettes but what if you lose your job , wife gets sick , bad investments and start running out of savings ? Cant afford medical insurance ? You may need those food stamps someday or universal health care .

A " civilized " society needs to show compassion for its fellow man . Otherwise we become animals . You are young and strong at the moment but as you age do you want to be cast aside like a piece of garbage as you become frail ? Only the strong survive . Talk about cave men mentality .

And last but not least . Your government tells you what to do . I can't believe you are under the impression that you are free . You are required to pay taxes , license your car and obey laws . That is a reality . You are not free to do anything that you want . You know it .

Why is it many Canadians cone to America to get medical treatment? They would rather pay to get treated than use the Canadian medical services. That has to tell you something about the type of health care Canada has. Yea, great medical system there. Canadian docs come here to get treated!

Paranoia? I see society for what it is. There are no veils over my eyes. I have seen what the world has turned us into and I am not going to fall prey to it.
100 years is a generation. It is sad if that is what you look at as the historical rationalization for your opinion. I have lost a job and had my ex wife leave me. I didn't "qualify" for anything despite paying $30,000 in taxes the prior year.
I see what our society is everyday. I see all of it. It is wretched, corrupt, and failing. The idea that the strongest survive is evolution and Darwinism. It isn't pretty, but it is the law of our existence. Going against it corrupts our species. Look at the rising number of children born into poverty, look at what "class" of people are the fastest growing population. My wife and I make a very good income, but we work our asses off and take risks that others don't. We can't afford kids, yet twenty times a day I see unemployed crack heads with six kids. How is this right in any way?! How can you defend this??
These are the facts. It is not societies burden to care for me, just as it is not my burden to be forced to care for them. We are given free will by birth.
I know this country is not free. Do I in anyway seem happy about the state of this country?! Isn't that the point of this thread. You seem like an intelligent person, I do not understand why you are purposely trying to argue facts that you know are correct.

How many American die a year because they have no health care ? How many people lose their house or our debt up to their eyeballs trying to pay for their hospital bills .
Our system is not perfect but at least people can get care .
Your health care is based on your ability to pay and the wealthiest get better care .. It's sad

Dude .. It was never my intention to get into personal attacks . Our society is breaking down and we have evolved none in 2000 years . What are our options . Kill the sick , weak and poor ? I suppose someday that might be the solution . Some wacked out science fiction movie . I understand your concerns about protection but I think at the point in which it came to that we are all doomed . This whole thing started when some guy pissed me off by telling me " he didn't care where I was from " when I was just expressing my beliefs .. When I told him that offended me . He let me know he didn't care . Talk about being a" bro " ...
Obviously we have a difference of opinion and the best part for me is that I really don't have to concern myself with the debate as its already in place for us .
I do feel that if that kid had a harder time buying the weapons he might not have been able to kill all of those people . Of course there are so many alternatives that it might not have made a difference either . The while thing is sad . I watched a report on it last night

Not sure if you were present with your gun you might have stopped him . The weapon he had sprayed rounds . You might have been killed before you could have even reacted . Just thank God you were not there and make every second count with your beautiful wife . You never know what a day brings

Guns cannot be on your person on a commercial plane but can be checked in your baggage. And yes I have my gun with me when I go to the gym. It stays in my car however. I know people who do have thier piece on them in the gym.

And why carry it everywhere? Because I refuse to die a victim. I honestly hope I never have to use my gun but ask anyone in that movie theatre if they wish they would have gad a gun that night.
