I have been going to the gym seriously for about 5+ years now. I have lost a bit of weight lately, about 15lbs or so. It sucks, I am going for my masters and while I have kept up with the lifting I stopped eating so much. I usually only eat 4x's a day now. It seems like I have gotten much weaker for some reason. I lost about 10-15lbs on most of my exercises. Is it the weight loss or what?

I would say that the reduced food consumption has a lot to do with it. Food is the most anabolic substance you can take and with less food comes less energy.

Bump the prevous comments.

I have found that if I cut while "on," I can keep up the strength when i cut, but i don't make a lot of gains (unless there is tren involved).

I would start adding a couple of extra snacks a day. I have started using some of the protein drinks in a can just for the convenience factor (or a tub of fat free cottage cheese) and they are easy enough that I will eat them when I am very busy and lack some of the discipline that I havve had in the past.

It's the weight loss. It's happened to me where my bench is just weaker - cant figure
out why - then weigh myself and am 5 or 6 lbs lighter. My first gym had a lot of
Olympic lifters - the owner was the coach for the Olympics every other one. I
couldn't figure out why those guys would get so mad when they lost a few lbs.
Shit, the heavyweights mostly weighed over 300 lbs. and I thought loosing a few
lbs of fat couldn't make you weaker. WRONG !!! your weight definitly affects your
strength. (it was the 70's and I also thought the handfuls of pills they were taking
were vitamins - man, was I green)

Ah with all due respect I must disagree with weight loss (in the form of fat) being a factor in strength loss. Fat plays absolutely no role in your muscles abilities in terms weight training. Water, yes…as well all know the effects of creatine supplementation (which causes water retention) and AAS etc…. but fat??? No way. Not unless your down around 1% bf but then of coarse strength losses would be the least of your concerns.

Well, usually with some fat comes some muscle...but to say that strictly fat loss shouldn't have an effect is correct. When most guys slim down they lose some muscle too so it usually has an effect on strength.

Yes , when you lost weight, due to a weak diet, a lot of the melted kilos were muscles And this will automaticly have consequences in the gym. Once you will get back into a proper diet you will very quick put all the lost mucle back in place, no doubt about it

Stress I Say Bro, I Know My Wife Was A Reck While Finishing Up Her Masters And The Gym Wasnt The Same For Her Either, But I Think Stress Might Be It
