In about a year I've lost some bf and gained some decent size. It's a great thing to do when you turn 40. Stats: 6', 210, 40. Goal is to swell up the arms... and the rest of it, and lower the bf.
Main suppliment: Protein. I mix whey and raw egg whites (not just any egg whites). The egg whites have made a huge difference. Mix with whey in the morning and before bed. I'll continue that for ever. I get them at http://www.eggwhitesint.com by the gallon and would recommend them to everyone. They are sent frozen and kept in the freezer. They don't need cooking as they're flash-pasturized. Great customer service.
Other than that I eat as clean as possible... most always a protein based meal, moderate carbs, low fat. I take Universal Animal Pak and am finishing up a tren/prop cycle.
